Great lens for portraits. Definitely a must. Great price and warranty

Upgraded from the 1.8 I've owned for a few years. Definitely worth it and I would recommend it to anyone else who is thinking if it's worth the upgrade or to sticking with the 1.8. GO FOR THE 1.4! Unless you have another LENS that you may need.

I have purchased this lens for portrait photography - and have not been disappointed with this prime lense. I had a kit lens but this get the pictures on altogether a different level. i would recommend this for any DSLR owner. It is worth the price.

Great Lens for the money, Very sharp and fast. F 1.4

This has quickly become my favorite lens, especially for shooting portraits. The f/1.4 will give you awesome blurred backgrounds. It's a prime lens so you won't be able to zoom, but I like having to be active and move towards and away from the subject to get the shot. This will be a great addition to your bag!

I bought this lens to supplement my other array of lenses. The f1.4 is a great addition. Colors and clarity just seem to be so much better in low light conditions as compared to a flash picture. I haven't taken a lot of pictures with it as yet, but will be enjoying it on vacation shortly.

Great lens for close up macro type shots including bokeh. More useful when planning what subjects you intend to shoot, such as in-studio shots. Not so much a carry with you at all times type of lens, such as when hiking, as you'll seldom find use for it in an ever changing outdoor environment.

Great lens for beginner or pro. Hadn't had any issues or dislikes about the lens. Every shot I've ever taken is amazing with it. Very sharp. Fast AF. Precise MF. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a sharp prime under a million bucks.

Love this lens, I used this to get my photography business started and its a great starter lens. The pictures are crisp and clear. You do have to stand a little further back to get the picture you want but its great.

I love my Nifty 50, but it was noisy and called attention, didn’t seem professional. Got this lens $100 off regular price and it is the N-50’s big brother, with some extra perks, I’m glad I got it! I LOVE it!!! Wish I just would have got this one in the 1st place.

This is the best canon 50mm lens for the dollar. The 1.8 I've heard has some noticeable problem areas, and while the 1.2 is definitely the best quality lens of the three 50mm that canon offers, but it's also upwards of 800$. I love the low light performance and night time photography.

I use this for blogging. I am looking for another lens that creates more depth between the subject and background without me having to be so far away from the background, but I do like this one

Love the 50mm. Great for portraits and headshots in a small space and the look it creates is always desirable for my style or work. Its a fast lens for the studio which is great.

This is such a great lens. I see a lot of reviews that complain about its sharpness, which is just ridiculous. I'm guessing a lot of people just don't know how to handle such a low f-stop. This is my go-to lens for a lot of situations, not just portraits.

Lens works exactly as intended. Portrait pictures are clear and clean absolutely on point.

It is a step above the 1.8. The build quality, an actual focus ring, and almost a full stop of light extra set this lens above the 1.8. I do mainly video and recommend this lens over the L series 1.2. As far ad video goes, there is no difference between the two other than prestige.
