The 50mm lens is a great all around lens. Good for portraits, landscapes or close-ups.

Great lens! Take good care of it. Wife set down her bag and it rolled out and down a hill into a river! Cost to fix, was as much as a new lens. Here we are for round two. Please note, lens is not water or sand proof. TAKES GREAT PORTRAITS!

My second 50 1.4 lens. I sold the last one because I had to sell my equipment. Got back to photography and had to get it again. When buying lenses think about their reselling value. Canon Prime lenses and this lens do not lose much value.

The lens is the perfect size and takes great pictures. It does an exceptionally good job on portraits.

I owned the 1.8 before purchasing this lens. This lens is much faster at focusing and QUIET! The 1.8 is fantastic but the 1.4 is faster for my purposes.

I bought this to take better pictures of my kids in our daily life and love it. I can move forward rather than zoom and slowly learn to manipulate some of the manual features on my camera.

Great mid level lense, the lense is slightly bigger than the higher aperture sister lens, but takes great photos. Very pleased with this purchase!!

Great lens for a beginner easy to use an good product all around

If I had to redo this decision I would have gone a different mm. This compared to the Zeiss version or red band version is the same in my eyes. I tested both models out and went with this one. I only wish I had saved and gone all out and gotten the telephoto. If you had the money stick to USM telephoto lenses but be prepared for the cost.

My wife uses this lens to take pics of family photos or kids photos for their parents etc. while not used all the time its a nice piece to have if you do photography as a side business or even a hobby but are a perfectionist.

I love this lens.. its a great portrait lens and its not that expensive.
