Great price for a even better camera lens. I got exactly what I was looking for with this lens and the shipping was quick (2days)! No problems with the lens and the picture bokeh is very nice with this telephoto lens.

I own a Canon Rebel T5i and a 60D. I have been shooting semi seriously for about a year and it was time to step up my game in regards to lenses. I did a lot of research and chose the "Nifty 50" as I have heard it referred to. It is great for portraits and getting really good depth of field. I also like that it works with a full frame came if/when I decide to make that transition. For the cost you will not find a better lens.

If you’re looking for a bang for your buck in terms of image and video quality, the f1.8 aperture is incredible for the price. The auto focus is quick, a bit noisy as you can hear the motor every time but you’ll be wanting to shoot manual for the best quality. Plastic exterior with a metal base, it’ll last you a longtime if you take care of it.

I purchased this lens for it's wide aperture so that I could achieve a shallow depth of field with my camera. I found it to be a great price but you also get what you pay for. This lens does not include image stabilization and does not take the sharpest photos, however, it does exactly what I expected it to. I find that this lens performs best when the aperture is not fully open and the shutter speed is set to aminimum of 1/100th of asecond. The focusing motor is quite noisy but for $125 it does its job. If you're still using a kit lens that was included with the camera you should definitely give this lens a try!

This is a must-have lens if you're looking to buy your first prime. Bokeh is excellent. The new metal mounting surface is an immediate upgrade compared to the older f1.8 II. The STM motor focuses very fast, though hunts a little bit in low light settings, even at f1.8. You'll experience some ChromeAb wide open, but that's expected. For the price, you can't deny the value of this lens.

The EF50mm F1.8 STM Standard Lens for Canon EOS DSLR Cameras is like a magic wand for photographers. With its wide aperture of f/1.8, it's perfect for capturing those dreamy portraits with a gorgeous blurry background. It's so small and light that you can carry it everywhere and never miss a moment. And when it focuses, it's like a silent ninja – super quick and gentle. Whether you're just starting out or a seasoned shooter, this lens adds a touch of pro to your photos without breaking the bank. It's basically a ticket to awesome pictures, and who wouldn't want that?

Its tried, true, and cheap! Sure the 1.2 offers more light but 3x the price. This is the first lens a new owner should buy so they can see the difference the f1.8 offers over kit f4 lens. On a crop its 80ish which is still a good length while still blowing out the background. For the price it really is a no brainer!

This is a truly remarkable lens. It has not left my camera since the purchase. The aperture is amazing and the price is even more so. Pictures are sharp. It is not totally silent like the kit STM lens. Minor gripe. There is no optical stabilization, but the lens is fast enough for the challenge. The mount is metal and not plastic. Long live the nifty fifty.

This lens is a great improvement to the "nifty fifty" line. Compact, lightweight, and very affordable. Image quality so far is superb. The 7 rounded aperture blades help to improve the look of the out of focus areas of your image. Also, the upgrade to the metal lens mount is nice. It makes the lens feel less cheap than the 50mm 1.8 II. This is just one of those lenses that you have to have in your bag if you shoot a Canon DSLR. It's just so compact and affordable that you can't not have one!

I purchased this lens mainly because of the larger aperture. I really like how it provides a more shallow depth of field and is used more easily in darker lighting (beacuse of the larger aperture capability). Takes very great shots. You do have to keep in mind that this lens does not zoom in or zoom out, downside, but definitely worth it in my opinion.

I shoot a Canon 70d. After viewing several tutorials and reviews, I decided to supplement my previously acquired Canon lenses with a prime lens for portraits. I had previously used an 18-135 zoom as a primary all around lens, to include portraiture, and occasionally a 70-200 luxury zoom. The Canon 50mm prime in short fashion has proved to be an excellent prime lens in terms of performance at an excellent price point. The focus speed, the wide aperture and the utility of the lens are definite highlights. In using auto focus, I can not speak to use of manual focus with this lens. The lack of image stabilization was a concern but has not proven to be problematic. The small size of the lens has been an asset in terms of not being a distraction to the subjects, carrying my camera and in storing my camera bodies and gear. There was an adjustment to shooting with a shorter barreled lens. Thus far I have not experienced any durability issues with the lens. To date, this has been an excellent addition to my gear.
