This is definitely a great little lens. I use it for videos. My only thing with the 50mm is you have to be across the room from the camera and it's very hard to get in focus if you aren't behind the camera. So often I've filmed a video just to upload it to my computer to find the background in focus and myself completely out of focus and blurry. Tethering helps. If I were behind the camera I would love it more. When in focus it helps take beautiful video and gorgeous still images!

I was getting bored with the kit lens that came with my camera, so I looked for a cheap upgrade to practice portrait photography. I definitely recommend this lens for that as well as interview-type videography.

It's a great lens. It is very fast so you may want to avoid any shaking. However, it takes gorgeous pictures and photos will look very professional. Highly recommended.

It’s wonderful. I just got into photography and it’s really simple to use. It doesn’t zoom in or out but it’s perfect. It had auto stabilization and so you don’t have to worry about trying to figure it out.

Great lens. Nice bokeh and pretty sharp image. I soon replaced it with the larger Canon 50mm f1.4 USM lens though, which honestly I quite regret. 1.4 was nearly triple the price and the performance and image quality was nearly similar.

I wanted a lens where I can take crisp action shots of basketball games, as well as portraits and this lens delivers it all! I don't even have to do much editing. Vibrant color, crisp shots, a great lens all around for a great price!

I love my 50mm 1.8. It's a lot of fun to shoot with and the images are great. I accidentally dropped mine and broke it — so when I needed one fast, Best Buy was just down the road and had it in stock! Thanks guys!

I love this lens! It automatically blurs put the back ground of the photos. Also it gets a really great up close snapshot.

I love this lens. I practiced using by taking pictures of my wife and my Halloween decorations. The pictures had great focus and a beautiful blur behind the subject. Its a must have for the camera bag.

The revised Canon 50mm is a nice improvement from the prior model - with a larger (and more quiet) focus ring and better auto-focus (along with sharp photos and a great price) - this one lens any photographer should not be without.
