    My 1987 EF 50mm f/1.8 started having focus motor issues, so I picked up this new STM model with Best Buy points. What a value! The quality is much better than the 2nd gen. model, and even better than the 1st gen. Anyone that wants to learn photography needs to get this lens. I use it on a APC-C SLR for indoor middle/high school sports.

    For the price, this lens really can't be beaten. Great portrait lens with excellent picture quality. Feels well made. Only complaint is that the focusing motor is a little too loud (compared to other Canon lenses).
