grabbed this little guy prior to a portrait photoshoot I was doing and the results couldn't have been better. I've added one of the photos for reference. Shot on a Canon EOS Rebel T7

This lens is amazing and extremely affordable. Paired with my RF, I’ve taken some beautiful shots. Will definitely be a lens that comes with me to every shoot.

For what you’re paying for this lens, it’s just silly not to buy one. Produces great photos, it has a wide aperture, and a very nice and snappy auto focus. There’s a reason it’s called the Nifty Fifty, practically any photographer you ask will have or have had this lens at some point. You don’t have to use it just for portraits either, go out there and play with it, you won’t be disappointed! Note to buyers, it does NOT have IS so it’s not exactly the greatest for making videos unless you use a tripod. Also the AF isn’t exactly whisper quiet and the noise will definitely be picked up by a mic mounted on the camera.

This lens produces nice images, fantastic quality, and an amazing bokeh effect. Its very light weight and can hardly tell you have a lens on the body. Depth of field and apeture variety is brilliant. Good lens for the price.

Very nice quality lens at a great price. I bought this lens to start my young budding photographer with a good camera body (canon 6D) and a nice affordable lens that is both easy to be successful with but that she won't outgrow. Being able to get good results just feeds the interest. It was recommended to us by pro photographers as a must have for her kit, and I agree.

I have a rebel t7, with the lens that came with the camera years back. I've done individual projects and a couple hired projects. I had a client for Prom and wanted to upgrade my camera set up for that and in general.. this was a great step up. Great clear focus on subject, professional look in budget, background has 1-10 0.5 blur sometimes on zoom out for a soft candid intimate image. Highly recommend. I will be switching between this and my 18-55. Made me excited to do more hired work with confidence in my equipment.

Great affordable lens. Its lightweight and takes great pictures.

This lense produces great images with a great shallow depth of field all while being incredibly cheap. Would recommend for any photographer, new, or experianced.

Was looking forever for a good fixed prime lens to shoot portraits. Wasnt too sure if i should get the 1.4 or the 1.8 stm, so happy i went with the 1.8 stm, its lighter and way cheaper!!!

This is a great lens. Some of the reviews said the motor is noisey, but I don't here it. The picture quality is good. the price was reasonable.

Great quality and ease of use. Very good for portrait mode. Captures objects very well and captures depth automatically.

I got the RF50 which is basically same thing but for the EOS RF and its like a 3x zoom portrait on iphone with tons of bocha. A bit too zoomed for indoor shots and having good lighting is very important. Works best out doors.

This lens should be a staple in any photographers kit bag. The background blur is off the charts, you go from looking like an armature to a real pro real quick with lens. It has a metal connection ring which fits nice an snug against the camera body(previous versions had plastic). This lens does not has IS(image Stabilization) , so you should have a steady hand or tripod in use. It is pretty solid and dead on throughout all the aperture stops. And for under 130.00 you get a lot of bang for your buck.

I just bought a Canon 80d only the body, I didn’t want the kit lense. So I did my research and everybody raves about this lense. And for good reason, Best purchase I’ve made. It’s cheaper and the quality is so good. Highly recommend it!

Great Lens for the Portrait Shoot. crispy clear pics. It will not replace 18 55 mm lens for its easy to use. Easy to focus and very light weighted. Easy to carry;

My experience with this lens has been nothing but amazing! I love the way it focuses on the subject and how clear the images turn out with it! The different levels of background blur it is able to acheive are absolutley amazing as well! Definelty recommend this to anyone who does a lot of portraits, or photos with main subjects in them!

Got this to supplement the kit lens with my T3i and I’m really impressed with the quality and ease of use. Great focus and background blur.

This lens is a awesome lens for the price. The f stop is really low so you can get the blurred background effect really easily

I picked this up because I have read so many good reviews about this lens and because the price point is very affordable. This now might be my favorite lens to shoot with because it is so versatile. It's smaller form factor allows you to take it anywhere and the quality matches those of more expensive lenses. This also does well in both low lit and bright areas. The auto focus I thought was pretty quite and fast and the overall construction is excellent. No reason why this shouldn't be in your arsenal.

If you just bought a canon camera and you've been using the lens it came with, this is the first lens you should get. You just can't beat the value for money here. It's small, light, lets in a ton of light, and it's cheap. what else do you need?
