I do not know a lot about cameras, but this was a solid $100 investment for my wife's Canon Rebel T5. Pictures have a great look, and it is very easy to use.

I had to replace my 50 mm lens. It took me a while to find a compatible lens for my camera. The lens arrived in a timely time frame. Easy to use. Easy to mount to a Canon D 40 camera. Very clear photos.

With this lens you can get a butter smooth background blur for under $150. While the aperture is wide open, there is some purple fringing, so I shoot around f2.8 to minimize the fringing while maintaining a nice background blur.

Excellent image quality, compact form factor and affordable pricing, but with few minor issues with AF performance. Too be honest for the price you get a great lens. It works great in low light and produces sharp pictures. This lens is excellent in value for just above $100 and the new STM technology definitely makes focus noise quieter, but not as silent as 18-55mm, 55-250mm lenses. Pictures come out sharp and the new version has metal mount that makes the entire lens feel much more premium with a little more weight than the previous version. The 5-blade improved to 7-blades inside the lens and has a more pleasant coating on the lens which is supposed to make light flares nicer. I think it's a little odd that the filter size went from 52mm to 49mm, but no biggie.

GREAT IMAGE!!!! This lense captures images better than a normal lense for the EOS during the day as it takes in a bit more light so your image comes out crisper. The contrast is the autofocus is a tad buggy, however because you cannot zoom in or out it is a fixed length so you will want to make sure you are having a good distance between you and the object or person you are shooting. very happy with it :) Great for the price!

This is my first time using a lens like this and I gotta say I love the shallow depth of field that it can give your pictures and the larger aperture that it has is also nice when shooting in lower light places.

For the price, you're getting a lens that will exceed the cost. The wide aperture will allow for better low light performance and the ever popular shallow depth of field. Great for portraits.

Very small and light weight. The pictures are very good. I have zoom lenses that cover this focal length but this one is much faster. It works as expected. There's a reason they call this the "nifty fifty".

I have always been a fan of 50mm lenses. This one is sharp and really everything you could want in a fast prime. Wide aperture, quick and accurate autofocus, and great depth of field. Even if this is not your main lens, its great to keep in the camera bag as an option. For the price, you really cant go wrong!

I wanted a larger aperture for a better bokeh for portraits, - 1 star because of auto focusing on subjects. Even with the aperture wide open, still needs plenty of light for the result I desired. Ended up using manual (of course) and results were acceptable. I've used this on a cropped sensor and full-frame, and it works best on a full-frame. Still a decent lens to have in the bag, worth the purchase.

Got this for my wife to shoot family portraits of my nephew and my sister. There is not much to lens but its great at what it does. Easy go use and captures clean images. Used in conjuction with a canon 70d.
