Been stuck with the kit lens for a few months have finally started to invest into some better glass. Upon first inspection of taking photos, wow, what an improvement this is, clarity and that shallow depth of field at 1.8 is truly magnificent. I have the t7i (800d) and I can finally let my camera shine. Yes, it isn't an exact native 50mm as I'm using on a crop sensor camera, however, I just have to adapt to the slight zoom and I'll be good. 5 stars all the way. I attached some photos that will present capabilities of the lens.

I purchased this prime lens because I wanted something that would perform a bit better than the kit lens in darker conditions; think indoor parties, clubs, concerts, and night street photography with no flash (I HATE FLASH).
I am quite pleased with the lens. Definitely better than the kit lens for the situations mentioned.
There are two drawbacks that keep me from giving a five star review. First, I feel like the auto focus is quite slow in the dark (which is not all that surprising). Second, the field of view is really more limiting than I thought.
Still and all, this will be a valued addition to my camera bag that I would heartily recommend.

The Nifty 50! One of the best all-around street and people photography lenses. Fantastic lower light capabilities and so physically light and easy to use. The product was brand new in the box from Best Buy. 10/10 would buy again if I needed to.

First ever lens purchased. Very affordable. Got it for $99 and can’t expect more. Very nice and sharp images only thing is it has a crop of 1.6 x which will make you move around to get the perfect shot.

This lens brought new life into my basic rebel T5. I had been using the kit lens my camera came with and I had no idea how much better a new lens could make it look. The focus is quicker, captures more light, and the depth of field is amazing.

I'm new to these lenses and dslr camera. This type of lens obviously doesn't have a zoom. It's fixed at 50mm just like it says it it is. It's great for my stop motion projects with small figures like Legos. There's definitely more light coming in using this lens compared to the zoom zoom lens that came with my camera. Much sharper too.

Just getting into photography and this lens is way better than the ones that came in rhe starter kit. Came out clean without messing with the settings so will come out even better after

For the price you just can’t beat this lens if you are looking to do any kind of portrait photography. After switching from a Nikon it took me a while to adjust to this lens but once I did I love it. Sharp pictures, fast autofocus. Very pleased. Rarely leaves my camera as I mostly use it to photograph my daughter. Not the best photo for me to add to the review but I’d rather not put anyone’s face on here, but you can see how sharp the detail on her sweater and the cedar posts are.

Portrait photos look STUNNING with this lens and the 1.8 aperture helps let in more light for darker situations. I would definitely recommend buying this lens if you work with portrait photography.

I purchased this lens a few weeks ago and have been using it since then mostly for portrait photography on my Canon Rebel T3. The lens focuses relatively quickly and silently thanks to the STM motor, it's clear and sharp in the center of focus, and has very nice bokeh/DOF especially wide open at f1.8, great lens if you are looking to get into portrait photography or street photography.

I was recently pushed by a friend to purchase my first prime lens. I wasn't sure which one I wanted, the 35 mm or the 50 mm. I am so so so happy with my decision on the 50 mm. Its perfect for portrait photography, if that's something you are looking to use it for. I absolutely love this lens its silly. I have been using it a lot when I photograph engagement shoots and senior portraits, since it's light weight and I can carry it for great distances on a shoot - and not feel weighed down. Got to love my nifty fifty.

So I picked up this lens to just start shooting with my camera I just bought, and I'm blown away by the quality it gives off and if you can find like the right balance between focal point and aperture then you will get some pretty stellar pictures out of it

I'm only a hobbyist but the "nifty" 50 was definitely an awesome purchase. I haven't shot too many things with it so far as I've been working a lot (7days/week) lately. But I did a few test shots in the yard and with the kiddos and dog. Very excellent lens. I am a complete amateur so my skills on focusing etc are a little off. Will post some sample pics with very little editing.
