The Canon 50mm F1.8 lens is phenomenal lens with great optics, it could work with Full-Frame and APS-C sensors. Well built even though its plastic but this time with a metal mount. GREAT LENS FOR GETTING OUT OF YOUR KIT LENS, SHARP, VIVID, AND CHEAP. GO BUY NOW!

I have the both the 50mm 1.4 as well as this new one, and I must say this is definitely lighter but don't let that fool you. It's fast-focusing and captures tack-sharp images on my 70D and 7D MarkII. Love it for portraits!

A great lens to add to your collection! If you are a beginner or just replacing an old lens, you should definitely consider this one. It has the ability to create an awesome boca effect with the f-stop 1.8. Every photo is clear and crisp. It’s actually one of my favorite lens in my collection, and I use it in almost every photoshoot.

This is the lens that you MUST buy if you don't have much money to spend and want artistic photos like a professional. Coming from kit lens this made a difference for me to like photography.
Bokeh is phenomenal and pictures are super sharp.
Only drawback is it cannot be used for landscapes or wide angle photography. Its more like a portrait stuff.

Haven’t had much experiences with different lenses, I’ve been using the one that came with my Canon. I bought this lense due to that it’s affordable and better picture quality at lower light which it has proven to have. Took a while to get use to the fact that it doesn’t zoom like my first lense, still worth the purchase and I’m looking forward to getting more experience with it. I would recommend

I'm just a newbie photographer. I had the standard lens that came with my DSLR and I've purchased a telephoto lens as well. This lens is to allow me to take better portraits than the other two lenses and round out my options. This has met my needs so far and I was pleased with the functionality it provides given the cost. I knew I could spend more but I'm sure I wouldn't maximize the use of a pricier lens.

This lens is literally my favorite to use. As soon as I started using it a few months ago, I didn't really want to use any other. There are fancier lens' out there, but I just really love the image this one picks up. It also makes you use your feet a lot more being a prime lens which I think makes for better shots instead of zooming in.

This lens is great for starters and professionals alike. It is very compact and quite fast and quite with the STM upgrade. It's bang for the buck and you would be taking much crispier photos. The lens is good for portraits but tends to distort at closer f stops.
But absolutely go for it don't think too much!!

We really enjoy this lens. It not only takes great pictures but is small so it keeps the camera lite and easy to handle. I heard this was the first item to get after your camera purchase. I will agree, it takes amazing close up shots of our kids. It has been fun to play with. The only thing I would say is the downside is indoor shots. It has a zoom feeling so we have to switch back to our 18-55 so capture a full room shot.
