I took this to a convention and got some really good photos out of it. On an 80d though, this lens is really a bit over 70mm? Anyway, the point of my comment is that you will need space when taking full person shots. So hallway cons suck. Other than that it's great

Pictures come out clear, and definitely a good starter lens for up close shots

I am new at photography, well, learning how to take great photos. In all the photography books that I have read so far, this was the recommended lens for beginners. So far, I love it. I'm sure I will love it further when I understand camera functions and shot selections better.

Great lens! this Nifty Fifty really is quite Nifty. Price is thrifty. Learned to use it swiftly. Amazing dof with blurred bg and tack sharp focal point. Buy it. No regrets here!

The Canon product is excellent. The BB team knowledgeably advised and helped determine the correct lens for our needs. They let us try out the demo version and when the store we were in did not have stock, they found a nearby BB that had it in stock, helped us make the sale, and reserved it for us to pick up at the other store. This process also included a return which the friendly staff made a very easy and reasonable process for us to do. Great in-store experience. One criticism is that the BB computer system is overall slow to implement a purchase at one store and a pick-up at another. A 'wait period' of at least an hour was recommended by the staff due to a 'slow system'. Given everything else was real-time, including finding and putting on hold the product in stock at the nearest store, it seems reasonable to expect that there should be in-company computer communication that is commensurate with comparative network inventory systems.

This canon lens is an excellent staple among my other lenses for my camera. It shoots excellent street shots.

I can't give a proper review without reply using this lens. I must admit I wonder if I should have gone with the 1.4 vs the 1.8 but that was always going to be the case. I think getting a hood will make a huge difference so I am in search for that now as I start to utilize more. The lens does seem more study then the original 50 but I know everyone loves the non stm 50. So far it's a great lens! I'm not a professional photographer so it should be enough as a hope to get better. I would give this 5 stars if I had a better handle on this lens I'm sure, but put for just in case.

Best lens, the nifty fifty is so helpful! Takes such crisp photos and makes a world of difference when coming from a kit lens

This lens is perfect for outdoors scenery pictures that you may want to blur out the background. You point and shoot and your subject will be crisp and clear standing out from the background. I am a beginner photographer and have had challenges in achieving this setting manually, but with this lens just pop it on and set your F-stop to the lowest number and boom...your picture looks like a pro took it.

This lens is a great partner for my EOS M50. Perfect for portraiture, bokeh and blurring are really good. With an aperture of 1.8 it is ideal for archieving these two effects. Excellent purchase !!-

I purchased this to use my canon rebel t7 as a webcam and the image/video is super crisp. Works great.

this lens is the best buy I ever made for my camera. It makes it so easy to give your pictures that look of a high paying professional. I used it to take my nephew's second birthday pictures and they turned out terrific.

Purchased this lense for our daughters Homecoming night photos and it was a great choice. All the pictures turned out fantastic. I'm a hobby photographer, family photos mostly and my youngest daughter's soccer events. Would highly recommend!

I knew exactly what I needed from this lens, when I was going to purchase it. As always, excellent product from Canon. Might sound pricey, but you pay for the quality, and I would do so any day. Must buy for short range photos.

This is a definite must have for your bag. It is great for portrait shots! At first it feels weird because its so zoomed in, but just know this isn't meant to replace your kit lens, just something you use to make some of your photos look great!
