This is my 3rd lens that I bought to use towards my photography. The f/ 1.8 is great and super clear and focuses really well. I would highly recommend this lens to anybody that wants to do portraits and stills!

I didn't expect to receive such a nice bokeh effect from this lens, but after using it up close to take pictures of collectibles I noticed it and was pleasantly surprised. This is very light prime lens and Canon made a good update with the STM version of this lens. It's not an L lens, but for the price, this is a great little lens. I use it with a Full Frame Canon 6D.

Bought this for my niece, for her birthday. She was so exicited when she opened it and started using it. She didn't know what she was capable of once she started photographing w this lens.

I bought this lens for my 6D to do indoor concert photography. It work perfect its just what I needed. The lens is fast and the aperture is wide enough to capture indoor shots without flash. Just what I needed!

I bought this to replace my EF-50 1.8 II, thinking it would be silent and focus noises wouldn't be evident in the recordings. Alas, the focus noises are lessened, but still audible in the on camera mic. They are quieter when the camera is in video mode, and the focusing is smoother, but I don't know that I would have bought the lens if I had known it. If you don't, and have a Canon DSLR, it is a no-brainer purchase.

I love this lens! The only thing I didn't realize until after I bought it was I own a camera that is not full frame so it acts more like an 85mm lens. But it still takes beautiful pictures. Very happy.

Great special use lens for portraits. Great blur of background while subjects remain in clear focus.
Zoom is a bit much for group photos, but it works if you have enough distance between you and the subject.

Great Lens for portraits. Picture quality is great and the quality of the image is superb. Canon is my favorite brand and top of that this lens is addition to my collection of all other lenses.

This lens has so many improvements from Canons previous nifty fifty that it's totally worth the upgrade, and it IS an upgrade. Honestly, after renting the pricier 1.4, I went with the new STM 1.8. It's just THAT good.
