I think f1.8 says it all. The background blur because of the aperture is excellent. It is great for portrait photography. Just make to identify if you have an APS-c or a full frame camera because for APS-C this will make the focul length to 1.5x or 1.6x.

Great for boque effect and many other options. I'm new to DSLR cameras so i'm still getting a hang of things.
