many of the reviews do not do this lense justice, it is an absolutely phenomenal lense for the price, and has helped me be shown in photography.

If you have the Canon EPS Rebel T7 camera, then you need this lens. It has been a game changer for my photography business. The only downside, which isn’t much of one, is that YOU are the zoom for this lens meaning that if you need to get closer you must physically get closer to your subject. Same method for if you need to be farther away. This is because this lens has the ability to have super low aperture which helps create that beautiful bokeh effect that everyone wants, while also maintaining a super crisp clear photograph. Once you get used to that, using this lens is a breeze. I don’t regret purchasing this at all!

Bought the 50mm lens after watching multiple videos on it, and reading why I needed to add a 50mm to my lens collection. It hasn’t disappointed at all. It is actually a great lens, The Nifty Fifty as most call it. Opened my eyes to a completely different style of photography than I was used to. I mostly used a telephoto lens. Now I can do many things that a telephoto lens can’t do!

I couldn’t be happier with this Canon lens. The image quality is simply outstanding—sharp, vibrant, and full of detail. Autofocus is quick and accurate, even in low light, which makes capturing the perfect shot so much easier. The build quality feels solid yet lightweight, so it’s comfortable to carry around on long shoots. Whether I’m taking portraits, landscapes, or action shots, this lens delivers consistently beautiful results. It’s a fantastic investment that has truly elevated my photography. Highly recommend it for anyone who wants professional-level results without compromise!

That's no exaggeration, this has to be the best lens in the world for the money. There may be other brand names similar and cheaper but they're cheaper for a reason, they aren't built as well and the glass isn't quite as good. There's so much you can do with this lens, everyone should have one.

This budget lense is amazing. With the 1.8 aperture you cant beat the price on this baby. Takes great photos its also sharp as well. I use this one alot more than my other lenses. Its not that fast though But still good.

I am by no means at all a professional photographer! I just recently bought a cannon camera to take pictures and to start getting into photography, and quiet frankly I don't know much about photo taking or camera's at all! I bought this lens because it had great reviews and was a decent price. Since its all new to me I didn't want to invest in a super expensive lens since I don't know much about them. I love how great this lens works and how my photos turn out and cant wait to play around with this one! I would absolutely recommend to new photographers or someone just wanting to get good pictures!

The lens is lightweight, and even on my crop camera, it took great pictures at my daughters horse show. I took all of my shots of the horses and riders outdoors, blue skies and partly cloudy. It took a few minutes for me to stop reaching around to zoom but since I was moving around, it was easy to step in or out as needed. The pictures came out sharp with no shading. I set the crop for background blur in some pics and they were perfect! I did swap lens to take all of the action in the arenas though since this lens isn't for that type of picture. All in all, a great addition to the collection and at the price, I am extremely impressed at how amazing the pictures were.

I recently picked up the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 standard prime lens at Best Buy, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. This little lens is an absolute powerhouse for the price.
Best Buy had it in stock and ready to go, and their staff was helpful in answering my questions before purchasing. For anyone looking to step up their photography game without breaking the bank, this lens is a must-have. It’s easily one of the best budget-friendly upgrades you can make to your Canon kit.

This is one of those lenses that’s sharp, light and cheap! Yup, cheap!
If you’re new to photography and just got a camera, this should be your first lens you buy. When I first got my canon kit with lenses I was so excited.. but once I picked up this little guy I really got to try new things.
F1.8 for around $100 is crazy.. Sure it’s not built like a 70-200 f2.8L, but it doesn’t need to be. Chances are you won’t drop it.. and if you do it’s cheap and is easily replaced.

I have had this lens for several days now and I'm beyond impressed with its capabilities. I've been looking for a good prime lens for a while now and I finally decided on this one. I'm having a blast with it! I'm currently using it on my Canon Rebel SL1. I have gotten some of the best photos that I have ever taken with this lens. The quality of the images is incredible!!! I can't wait to use this lens on trips that we have planned this summer. I can already tell that this is going to be my go-to lens that I will use probably about 95% of the time. I still have my 18-55mm lens as well as my 75-300mm lens, but this "nifty fifty" lens is definitely my new favorite. Whether you're an amateur/hobbyist photographer or a pro, you absolutely need this lens in your camera bag! Below is one of the many photos I have taken with this lens since getting it last week.

Very nice quality lens at a great price. I bought this lens to start my young budding photographer with a good camera body (canon 6D) and a nice affordable lens that is both easy to be successful with but that she won't outgrow. Being able to get good results just feeds the interest. It was recommended to us by pro photographers as a must have for her kit, and I agree.

They don't call this the Nifty Fifty for nothing.
I am a 29 year professional photographer. This lens though it may be small and cheap, fragile even in this design, is more than worth its weight.
For such a low cost, this lens should be in every arsenal. If anything, it would be a great backup or video film lens.
The Boque of this lens is absolutely gorgeous and I would not go anywhere without it.
The downside as I said before is the plastic build. But for such a low price... why the heck not? I recommend for any beginner.

This lens is great for portrait shots. If you are a headshot photographer (actors, businesses, etc.) then this lens is great for 3 reasons. One, you get a 1.8 f stop which allows for a lot of light. Two, it's relatively inexpensive compared to the other lenses. Three, it's lightweight compared to hauling around a big heavy lens

is high quality and very useful for portrait and works for the Black magic camera as well. does not have manual gears for the manual focus, there for it must have power connected to it.

I recently purchased this lens as I am still starting out on my photography journey and this was the best first buy I added to my kit. The lens is perfect for beginner portrait photography. The employee that helped me explained this lens in detail to me and also compared the other 50mm and other lens and told me this would benefit me more in this stage of my experience and he was completely right. If you are looking to upgrade your lens I highly recommend this one. You won't regret it.

This is my first lens purchase apart from the lens kit I had gotten with my DSLR. I'd say overall, it's a big change from the kit ones. I especially enjoyed being able to shoot with larger aperture. And that blurry background looks nice, even with my crop sensor camera. The only thing I noticed (which is probably not that important to all) is how slow it focuses. I mean not turtle slow, but you can tell. And it's definitely not silent. I should have gotten the USM one but it's much more expensive. Overall, it's something that I would recommend if you're in a budget. Note: I am not a professional by any means. and this is just a beginner's point of view.

This is a great prime lense that offers extremely sharp images and wonderful background blur to make the image pop. Price point is great when the next step up is over $200 more. Only warning in shooting photos don't expect to shoot every image at its widest aperture or you will end up with a small focal point and lots of blur not only in the background but of the subject as well. Once you understand that then everything else is great!

I use this lens for both portraits and landscapes. It's really great to be able to get such a shallow depth of field with such an affordable lens. The wide maximum aperture also significantly reduces noise when shooting in low light, especially if using an APS-C sized sensor. Image quality isn't perfect, but it easily beats Canon's entry-level kit lenses (18-55, 18-135, etc.). It lacks image stabilization, which is something to keep in mind if you're used to shooting with IS lenses, but for the price (which is a steal, by the way), there's nothing with better image quality. This is a great lens if you're looking for better image quality as a beginning photographer.
