I own the 18-55mm lens and the ultra wide range lens also and this one by far is my favorite! I love the fact the fact the I get polished photos without all the guesswork. I'm no photographer but I do enjoy taking photos. Super lightweight, you won't be disappointed.

Dollar for dollar this is the Best Buy for your money on any canon glass. You will take AMAZING pictures with this lens. Low light = no problem with its 1.8. If all you have is your kit lens, stop reading this and add it to your cart, you'll love it. For $99-130 it can not be beat.

I have a T5 and the kit lenses were already pretty good, but this lens stepped up the game so hard. Excellent for beginner photographers like myself. The price is GREAT and this lens is worth a lot more imo. Good job Canon.

This is a great light weight general purpose lens. I use it a lot in low light conditions, mind you it is no where as good as the 50mm F1.4, but for the low price paid it is well worth the money.

I was able to notice the difference between my other canon lenses. If you want a picture that will blur the background surrounding the object/person, this is the lens to get for your canon.

New to photography as of November 2017. Can't say anything more than what others have already said so I've attached a test shot I took while herding my dogs in the backyard. For the price, it's impressive. Great way to learn additional features of my Canon 80D without spending a ton of money. This lens will keep me quite busy until I'm ready for a sizeable upgrade.

    EF 50mm f/1.8 STM

This compact and lightweight lens delivers excellent image quality with smooth bokeh while at the same time being very inexpensive. Unfortunately, despite the nice metal mount, the overall feel of the lens is somewhat disappointing. This is mainly due to noise produced when focusing. Although the motor of the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM is quieter than the previous model, it is still noisy compared to all other Canon STM lenses which are practically completely silent when focusing.

The nifty fifty is a classic lens. This STM version is even better. Add it to a used camera such as a Canon 5D Mark II and you have the perfect starter Camera kit.

I got this lens to replace the 50mm f1.8 II. The autofocus system is much quieter and much more precise. It's built quality is also much improved. Love that it has a metal mount again. I don't see much of a difference in image sharpness than the II but the build quality difference made it a worth while upgrade for me. Best lens you can buy for $125

This is the perfect lens to transition to after purchasing a dslr camera. The stock lens that come with Canon cameras usually don't cut it. But having this 50mm f/1.8stm lens will open up a whole new world of possibilities and really help you see the potential of what a DSLR camera truly can capture.
