A great camera. However my unit had 3 frozen pixels on the rear LCD which cannot be corrected. There is no such thing as the "perfect" camera in my experience, but for the price of this body I simply can't accept this. I'll be exchanging for another one.

Overheating issues in photo and video, I am a videographer and a photographer and I have had this camera overheat on me in both situations however when it overheats when I’m taking photos the camera has been on for maybe 3 to 4 hours during a wedding, but I’ve never had this issue with any other camera.

Item appeared open and camera appeared handled. For a $3600 camera it should have been new in box. Camera is top notch, Best Buy is not.

The R5 the a superb camera

I replaced my Canon R with a Canon R6 which was generally excellent. However I returned the R6 and purchased the R5. The primary driver for this was the ability to shoot bird and wildlife photos and crop in while retaining excellent detail. Both the R5 and R6 have superb eye autofocus for animals making it possible to achieve stunning wildlife photos. Personally I often can not get that close to a bird or animal and the ability to crop-in with sufficient detail is the difference between a great photo and one that is not usable. Another advantage of the R5 is the ability to store and retain your preferred video settings. The Canon R6 will default back to 1080 video every time you switch back to photos which is a problem if you want to shift rapidly between 4K video and photo modes. I believe the R6 Mk 2 has added custom modes for video and fixed this issue. Finally the R5's viewfinder and back screen have more resolution than the R6 which was noticeable and helpful to me. I used to keep cameras about 6 years and hope to retain the R5 that long. I felt the R5 offered the features and longevity of use that I was looking for. I'll close with my personal view on cameras which I have been using over 50 years. All major camera manufacturers are making superb cameras these days. There is really no need switch systems these days. If you have quality legacy Canon, Sony, Nikon, etc lens, I would select a camera based on your useable lens inventory. Canon has a massive legacy of professional used EF class which provides a low cost alternative to cheaper 3rd party glass. There new RF glass is extremely good as well.

    Best Canon camera ever!

Have used several Rebel series, 5D Mark II-IV series, R7, and finally decided to upgraded to the R5. Unparalleled performance in this camera. Tack sharp images and an autofocus that is out of this world. In my opinion, as a photographer of over 40 years, if you want a fantastic all around camera and you can afford it, you just can’t go wrong with the R5. As a side note, I paired this with both the 24-105mm F/4 as a general purpose lens & the 24-70mm F/2 as an AMAZING portrait/ event lens and the R5 allows for a top notch performance with each that just can’t be achieved with an inferior camera body. Quite frankly, this just is a GREAT camera with the characteristic exceptional Canon quality. No hesitation whatsoever in giving it 5 stars.
