By far, the best camera I've owned. I used to shoot with the DSLR 5D Mark III and , yes, it was a good camera. But this one just overpowers it. Photos (using the 24-70mm 2.8) are tack sharp. I would highly recommend took a little while for me to get used to everything, as with any new camera, but it is worth it.

Now if you want the quick and dirty answer I would should Yes! Technology from the 5d to the R5 has improved for the features that I use so it was worth the upgrade for me. I was in a similar situation in 2016 using the 5d3 when the 5d4 come out. I went ahead and bought the camera because once again there was a huge leap in technology. As for the investment so far, now this category has been huge. I always tell my students or other photographers asking for advice, the main key is do you have a plan to get your money back? If the answer is yes then the camera will pay for itself in a few shoots. For me upgrading to the 5d4 back in 2016 all I needed was the body so that camera was about $3800 or so because I already had the ef lenses. With the R5 this camera uses a completely different mount so I wanted to be able to get the full benefits from the camera so not only did I buy the body but I bought the RF 85 1.2 & 24 105 and went ahead and bought the ef to rf adaptor to use the other lenses I use as needed. I did buy 1 cf express card and a card reader. On top of that it's been time for a new computer, even though I had an i7 with 24 gig of ram, the computer struggled to play 4k video real time and trying to use canon DPP software which is not as fast as lightroom converting the raw files it was time to make a change. The computer was another $2600 on top of that. So all in that puts me at over 10k invested in the platform Do I think it was worth it? Absolutely based on the work I do and the type of people I attract with the services I offer, I already have work on the books that pays for all it and now every new booking is straight profit. Amazing camera body coming from the Eos R then the R6 n now the R5. i dont shoot video so the overheatinf is no issue for me also since the firmware update i heard for many that was fixed. the body feels great in yohr hand , although a little more weight to the body might been a little nice just to feel more once like a professional body but with mirrorless its also expected. once you mount your lens on it basically balances out. the only thing i wish canon would have done is instead of digital n push style button to change a traditional dial to me would have a better feel to it. now if your looking for a camera to not eat batterys sadly this is NOT it lol. buy at least one extra backup battery for this camera although i have more then a few. now also one downfall to this body even thohgh it takes some amazing shots this is NOT a low light camera an for low light scenarios id still use my R6.

I love this camera it’s video quality is amazing despite the over heating issues that people claim to happen.

I purchased this camera mainly for still photography. It is a very solidly built camera with all of the features that I need currently and other features that give me plenty of room to grow. I purchased the Canon EF-EOS R5 lens Mount Adapter and I am able to use all of my old EF lenses.

I made a late jump into the mirrorless scene after lots of hesitation, but I am so glad that I finally did. I am using R5 for exclusively photography purposes, so I cannot comment on the 8K video aspect, but personally I feel that just the photography alone is worth the money. I have never experienced a new camera body instantly improving my photo quality so noticeably. Highly recommended for anyone who has been hesitating like me.

Coming from the Nikon z7. This camera blows it out of the water. The r5 is the best camera I have ever used. I can’t speak highly enough about this camera. I’ve recorded 8k 4K hq. Never even had an overheat warning yet. It came with version 1.20. It renders such an amazing photo with the rf glass. My editing time is a snap now. The video is so good. The autofocus is unbelievable. No more blurry photos. Just keepers.

I’m a professional photographer and only trust Canon for my business. I love the R5 so much I had to purchase a second one. The focus eye tracking is phenomenal. This camera is very user friendly with an easy to use interface. I love the rotating back screen and love that the screen is a touch screen. Amazing camera and beautiful high quality images!

Light and powerful little thing ,migrating to mirrorless is the best when it comes to my work . Camera is great ,the one thing is the battery lasts way less time then prior systems ,aside from that , great purchase ..

Overall, the Canon R5 is a top-of-the-line camera that offers excellent image quality, impressive video capabilities, and a wide range of features for both still and video shooters. It is definitely worth considering for any photographer or videographer looking for a high-end camera.

The eye auto-focus on R5 is fantastic. The overall auto-focus is faster than R6. The EF glass works great with the adapter. Really enjoying shooting with my EF primes wide-open at f 1.4 and eye-auto focus enabled. Hit rate has been more than 95% so far. On the video end C-log3 provides amazing dynamic range to work with and a good set-up for me as I come from 5D4.

Love the focus on animals eyes, fast, sharp images.

The is a huge jump from EOS RP. I love the camera. It can handle any task you need. Definitely a must have.

I'm still learning all the features to this great camera. I love cannon and will always buy a cannon. When you take a photo, you will see what will come out when developing. So very excited to have this camera.

The images are incredibly sharp! Amazing ergonomics and fits snug in the hand. Very light.
