Great camera that 'replaces' my older 5D Mark III. Quality of images, image stabilization and accuracy & speed of focus system is awesome. The only downsides are the high price and the time I'm going to have to invest to learn how to use all those features.

Absolutely love this camera. I went from an R7 to this R5 for the full frame sensor. Pictures are clean, great megapixel and ya not too heavy of a camera. It’s super fast with uploading photos straight to my camera after sessions. The two card slot is always a plus and I’ve had zero issues with this camera. Highly recommended to those who love quality!

WOW! I purchased the R8, kept it for 2 weeks and decided to return it for the R5. Boy, was I glad i did. This camera has taken my photography to the next level. Sure, it's twice the cost and there is A LOT to learn and many menues to navigate. Once you understand, it's a WONDERFUL camear. Not a "started" in the least. I'm so happy i moved up from my canon 7D DSLR... to mirrorless..

Hands down the best camera I've owned. I replaced my 5D Mark IV with this and couldn't be happier. Very light, easy to carry, and the photos are beautiful.

Absolutely amazing camera, coming from a 5d4 and the eos R, the R5 is a perfect blend of the newer technology with mirrorless and the familiarity of the layout and feel of the 5d cameras. Got to use it during a wedding last weekend and was thoroughly blown away. 11 out of 10 recommend.

The Focusing tech makes this camera a marvel. In a low light setting at a Wedding Reception, it just nailed image after image. Do not fear the Image File sizes, I still use a 2015 Dell i7 PC and yes it is a little slower, but nothing so bad that it affects editing. I have been with Canon since 1982, dipped into Sony when Canon was a little slow with this type of focusing, but I'M BACK because of this camera. Dynamic Range is better on the Eos 5D MKIV HOWEVER these files are so darn clean. And the in-body Image Stabilization will save many an image.

Canon Leaps To The Front Of The Pack

After missing out on the early shipments of the R5 this fall, it popped back up on BestBuy in December and I was able to snag one. Although I have had this camera for a month, between the holidays and the bad weather I haven’t had too many chances to shoot with this. But my initial experience shows a number of enhancements over my old Canon set up. I shot some nighttime cityscapes from a cold windy rooftop in Brooklyn in January. Although I was still largely unfamiliar with the redesigned control layout on the R5, it took little time to work through the touchscreen options to change the exposure settings while the camera was mounted eye level on a tripod. Tap the aperture box on the large LCD, then roll the shutter dial to the desired F stop. Tap the ISO, white balance, etc, and roll the dial for the same quick adjustments. My hands were freezing and I can’t imagine trying to fiddle with the various top mounted exposure settings in the dark on my old 6d. The new controls, so far, seem intuitive and certainly more visible. The 45 mp image size is just mind boggling. Take a well exposed shot, open it on your computer and the amount of detail crammed in there is hard to fathom. You can zoom/crop to just a portion of the original image and it continues to be crisp and very useable. If your last camera was a 20 mp sensor, the increase in resolution is startling. The cons - My only negative so far is this - One of the early selling points of mirrorless camera technology was that with the elimination of the mechanical mirror prism on the top of the body, the camera body was going to be smaller, lighter, less burdensome to carry on a landscape shoot, and easier to handle. That may be true, but any reduction in size and weight of the body seems MORE than offset by Canon’s RF L Series lenses. While the 70-200 may be a bit smaller than its old EF counterpart, the 15-35 and the 24-70 L Series zooms are big honking lenses that seem noticeably longer and heavier than the EF zooms. With a reduction in body size and an increase in size and weight of these lenses, the R5 feels perpetually front heavy. I’m sure I will get used to that as the months go on, but I may consider adding the optional battery grip to the R5 body. Yes that will add still more weight, but it may balance the camera better. With eye tracking focus, wicked fast burst mode, this is a great leap forward in technology for Canon.

Nearly Perfect Camera in the Market

This is the BEST full frame camera in the market now. You can't find any one else which provides almost everything you need as a professional photographer. The video quality has significantly improved compared to EOS R. No one can beat its 8K video, NO ONE! Sorry Sony, you are behind this time. Once Clog2/Clog3 can be added into the near future and the over heating problem can be further reduced by future firmware, this is the one you can use 5-10 years with no regret, I can guaranty you desipte its relatively high price right now.

Got this camera in late 2022 and it has been an incredible change for me. I switched brands and I can truthfully say this camera is everything. The colors are amazing and photos come out beautifully. I would recommend this camera to anyone, time and time again.

Wished the iphone app worked better with less lag

I'd give it 4.5 stars. The app to connect my iphone to the camera is... a game changer! However, the only downside is that whenever we are a bit too far from the camera (think ~6-10 feet), it gets... SUPER laggy and doesn't always register the click to take the picture. Therefore, I gave it a 1/2 star deduction from getting a full five stars. Pictures are obviously amazing, as you'd expect from this price point so I will not go into greater details about the quality of the photos.

The Best Camera for Hybrid Shooters

Great camera! Even though they just came out with a Mark II version, the original is still the best workhorse camera for hybrid shooters. High resolution for stills, unreal video quality for videographers and durability to last.
