First DSLR

After using this camera, and learning all the features and what it can and cannot do, wish I would have gotten a mirrorless sony a7iii. Overall it’s a nice camera but if you’re seriously getting into photography and using it for more than just here and there, are some things to consider. I made a list of the pros and cons Pros: Flip out screen Great for self portraits, filming and getting those angles. Image Stabilization Self explanatory, your videos will be pretty steady Subject Tracking This is a great feature that full frame, much more expensive Canon cameras don’t have. Especially useful in filming or just taking photos. Quality of Photos Given you know how to work manual, you can take the time to get some very stunning photos with the 24.2 MP. Cons: Crop Camera zooms pretty far in naturally and you may find yourself having the hold the camera extremely close to your body to get the same shot... Kit Lens Is not very great. High f stop meaning not good in “dark” lighting. Consider having to get another lens if you are traveling and want to take some good photos in the evening. Another to keep in mind is that Canon doesn’t have too many options in lenses so if you’re going with a Canon expect to pay some cash to get a “good” lens. Battery Life Has dwindled and very quickly. Used to last a whole day and now maybe half that. I’ve had the camera for less than 6 months and don’t use it regularly. Wifi/Bluetooth Connect Just not designed well in my opinion, constantly deconnects the second your viewfinder or phone goes to sleep and you find yourself reconnecting over and over again. Secondly viewing photos on the phone with the future is just clunky and not user-friendly. Each individual loads separately so if you have a lot of photos it can take a long time and you have to go through them one by one. Small glitches with the phone app as well, the view finder stretches the photo sometimes and you have to just reset it. Overall just a clunky feature. External Flash Another problem with the the wifi remote is that it doesn’t work with the external flash... I think I got it to work once when using a manual focus different lens but the kit lens it just doesn’t work. Lots of annoying things with the wifi remote. View Finder (screen) Does not work with external flash, you have to blindly figure out where you want to take the photo and use the eye hole part, which obviously is not possible in many cases (if it’s dark outside, you are stretching your arms, etc.) Should consider getting a mirrorless camera.

The threshold camera to a bottom tier pro camera

I like the viewfinder with the points of focus and the image stabilization works really well. Battery life is really short but that's solved with a couple extra batteries on hand. Most all the work with this cam has been photos and have used the video just a few times and it works well. Cam mics are never very good and I see a Rode in my future. My wife and I both like the quality of this camera and are happy with our black Friday Best Buy deals purchase. I am really glad the merchandisers had a better plan to beat the other retailers to the punch with BF deals before BF. And, I was happy when the final BF deals rolled around this camera was still selling at the same lower price we paid.
