A: DSLR is digital single lens reflector camera. It basically has a mirror being used in the camera where the lens is attached. There are now options for mirror-less cameras and this is the difference besides the aperture as well. STM is Canon's term for Stepper Motor which is a very quiet auto focus option used for videos and photos of wildlife. USM is the Ultrasonic Motor a good auto focus but not near as quiet as the STM, common in more wide angle lenses. IS means image stabilizer if I recall correctly. Canon has been using the term for decades now. The T7 still has an lcd screen but it is not flexible nor touch sensitive that the T7i does. Both of these are the using the APS-C sensor and thus not a full frame camera but offer great entry user options.
