If you like replacing your expensive printer often
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used it very little. Eighteen months after purchase, a service code appeared. I can’t remove service code, so my wonderful printer is no longer usable! I really liked the printer, but would not recommend. Too expensive for no better service than that.

This printer is terrible.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer has been trouble ever since I took it out of the box. I was never able to get it connected to the wifi and it does not print or scan consistently. Most of the time I need to print something, it takes 15 minutes and the printer will just hum for 10 minutes. In addition, when I have to scan a two sided document the printer will freeze and I will have to manually unplug it and start over. I've never used the fax option, but I wouldn't bother. I'm stuck with this because I didn't return it in time, but take heed to my warning and do not buy this printer.

Going back to HP
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After having HP printers break regularly (normally a month after the warranty ran out) I thought I would try a new brand. Did not find this as user-friendly to use as the HP and this one broke as well. Sigh. So, heading back to the HP.

Not for a small business
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought to use in a very small business, but found it insufficient for my needs and had to return it. One main reason why is the failure to have separate trays for letterhead and envelopes, which proved cumbersome and time inefficient.

Low Quality scanning results
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using this printer close to year now. Quality of the scanner in this is not what I expected from a cannon. When color images with pictures scanned it turned to the very dark colors. My low cost hp printed was providing better results when scanning. And even I wanted to print in black and white and if other cartridges are out of ink I will have to replace all colors with low ink even though I just wanted to print in black & whiter. That makes this printer very costly to operate. Very disappointed and going to buy an replacement. Can find an better on cheaper than the cost of 4 cartridges.

Never Again
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would actually rate this as a ZERO. Purchased on best buy rep recommendation. I have mixed MAC and PC network this machine would not setup properly. I contacted GEEK squad for help and spent more money for nothing. I contacted CANNON and they couldn't help. Took it back and bought an HP 8710 that took only minutes to install and run properly on my network for all machines. Will never purchase another Cannon.

Ink guzzler
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer uses so much ink you could buy a new printer instead of buying ink. I returned it to Best Buy and bought an HP.

Might be good but not the one I got.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was hoping to get away from hp printers and this one looked good. I'm not a novice with computers but I found the setup rather awkward at best. Setup one desktop OK but the second one resulted in repeated error codes that said to turn the printer off and then on, if that doesn't work contact a service center! Not a good way to start with a new printer, returned it.

Looks nice.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Printer was shipped by mail (don’t really trust people to handle things like this but...). When unpackaged, loaded with paper, and plugged in, the printer gives a message - PAPER JAM. PLEASE CLEAR JAM. All attempts to clear the message have failed. I have a large paperweight. Printers print. This does not.

Sheet feed issue rendered the printer useless.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the printer for all of 3 days before the sheet feed began acting up. It would run a few sheets through and then start mangling them. I tried different types of paper, aligning the paper perfectly, etc. but it just would not work. I returned it and bought a comparable HP and have been pleased with it.

Not worth it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed with this printer. Had to replace but the replacement also has the same troubles as the first one. It does a terry job at picking up paper and getting it to print. I have to cancel its printing process and try it again.

A great all-in-one inkjet printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Canon printer. After continued problems with HP inkjet quality and customer service, I'm really impressed with this product. It is well built, user maintainable (printheads DO wear out), has great features and produces excellent text and color chart outputs. I haven't tried it for photos yet because if I want photos it's more cost effective to have them printed professionally, especially when you consider the cost of both the paper and inks. Note: This printer uses premium PIGMENT based ink like many other fine inkjets. If you decide to try non-branded ink, be sure it's PIGMENT based and conforms to the Canon specs, or you will ensure clogging the printhead. Never mix Pigment and Dye-based inks. If you use Dye-based ink in this or similar printers designed for Pigment ink, the heat at the printhead nozzles will cause the Dye based ink to crystallize and ruin the printhead. Fortunately, this printer's printhead is user-replaceable and doesn't cost a fortune.
