Paying high price for less quantity

How much printing would I have to do to run out of ink a month later? Quite a lot I suspect. I am already getting the signal that I am low on black ink. Given the cost of ink it would be cheaper to buy a new printer - certainly not a Canon. I guess Best Buy can't be responsible for the quality of Canon printer ink, but I am certainly unhappy.
