    Great so far

While I can say that I only just got this printer today, I am very happy with it so far. Of course I cannot speak to anything long-term yet like it's ink consumption I can tell that, initially, the printer seems great. I read some of the reviews about ink consumption and, knowing other Canon printers as I do, I wouldn't be surprised if this is a 'thirsty' machine but I cannot say anything about that yet. I recall reading in a number of reviews about only so-so text print quality. What little I've printed seems to be of excellent quality although I just let it print so it may have been printing all the way on highest quality. A photo I printed also turned out great and, being a photographer, I wanted quality photo printing. I don't print a lot overall but, I want to be able to print decently when I do and this printer certainly did. I read reviews about the printer being slow but I can't say the same thing in my limited experience with this printer, it was actually quick (not super-quick but quick). I also read about having to have a cable to scan and send to a computer; this is not the case. I DID have to have the CD installed before my computer was on the list of where the scan could be sent but it worked just fine and over wireless connection. Again, we'll see how this is on ink. Fortunately I don't print THAT much so at least that's not a HUGE concern of mine. The ink tanks are quite a bit smaller than on the previous model printer I had so I can see that they could run out quickly but, again, we'll see. A final feature I really like is the automatic document feeder - yes, you can scan multiple sheets without having to put them individually on the glass. One think I really like it the light-up buttons. There are 16 buttons on the front which I at first thought were not labeled. In fact, they light up with whatever options are available to you when you're going through menus (like O K to choose something or a back arrow when you can go back). I do also like that you don't lift the whole glass portion up to get at the printhead to put ink in. it's just a small door although that does mean that it's a bit of a tighter squeeze - could be a bit tricky for someone with large hands or who has poor manual dexterity. The only issue I've noticed is that the the paper support on the output tray it a little flimsy. There is a part that extends on its own in a 'swing-out' motion, seemingly spring-loaded as the tray opens. I have found that this occasionally does not retract properly and would block closing the tray but this usually seems to be easily corrected by extending that piece all the way back and then gently back toward the position it would be in when closed (just until it seems to bump up against the spring again). If that's the only complaint I have about this printer, I really have no complaint.

Purchased as a replacement for an HP and it never made it past the set-up process to align the head and actually use the printer. Ended up returning it for another printer.

Don't buy if you want to use it wirelessly. It connects at first, but if you are working on something and come back to print again, you have to reconnect.

Not bad printer, If on sale

This is a nice printer, IF you get it on sale. I bought this printer to upgrade from my Epson 600 workforce. I figured newer model might have new features and possibly use less ink. I have other canon products, Trust name ext, ext, ext...... Cons First off WIFI setup was a PITA ( Compared to my Epson). Seems to use more ink Then the Epson ( Not by much) Ink Cartridges cost more then the epsons ( not by much) Not a big fan of the tray that holds the printed documents. Papers easily fall off Instructions are average at best Pros Looks nicer then the Epson lol Printing speeds are just a tad slower the then Epson WIFI works great (Once you get it to work) Has a paper cartridge holder at the bottom. Has a few more features ( Software) This a decent printer, but not for 199.99 . I prefer my old Epson to this printer. I guess I could have taken this back to try the newer epsons, but this still works ok and still meets my needs. In the software this has a few more cleaning programs that are really nice. Don't get me wrong this this is a nice printer, but folks if your heart is set on getting this ONLY BUY IT, IF IT IS ON SALE. I have seen BB list this on sale for as low as 99.99. WIFI setup- spent a hour trying to get this printer to connect to my computer. Followed the instructions over and over and over again. I was about to package it up and take it back, then I tried it one more time and it connected. I didn't do any thing different........ I recommend before you hook this printer up , let it sit on your lap, pet it, talk really nice to it, again BEFORE you connect it ;-)

I cannot be happier with this printer. I read reviews online about everything that I possibly could and specifications - so when I realized this one could do 9600 by 4,800 dots per inch I was sold. I went ahead and purchased 3 more containers of ink because I knew this is what I wanted. the representative in the store told me that Canon was the breast printer available but you're going to pay for it, so then I started looking at HP, but then I realized that most of the color cartridges come in tri color whereas Canon comes in 4 to 5 seperate color cartridges but they are individual. For example if all of my blue or cyan is gone but yet my red or magenta and yellows are still available I would have to replace that ink cartridge. whereas I found online I can buy a single ink color cartridge for Canon for about 13 bucks a piece that right there made up my mind. Now I have printed easily a hundred four by sixes a very good handful of five by sevens and probably 10 to 15 eight and a half by 11 and I cannot be happier with the quality. I will say that it (the printer) is large but you can also set it up wirelessly to do regular Printing and as long as you just do grayscale for normal printing as it has its own ink cartridge for that and you're not wasting anything that you would be using for your printing of your photographs. The phone that I use for printing is a cricket style Idol 3 from Alcatel it's not the most expensive phone in the world but it does have a 13 megapixel camera and I do love the fact that I can print directly from my phone using and the app that I found on the Google Play Store. If you're like me and you're strictly looking for something for your photographs you cannot do better than this printer. I guess I was lucky I found this printer when I bought it it was only $85.99 I have since looked again and now it's back up to a hundred bucks. lucky me regardless of the price 9600 X 4800 compared to everything else being half of that the colors are immaculate it is an amazing printer!!

I had a Canon that I loved, but it died (rest in peace MP610). Then I got another brand that jammed severely within the first month. And the print quality was poor. We do 3d papercraft and print a lot of color and need it to look good. This printer has excellent quality printing. The ink may be more expensive than for other brands, but it's well worth it for me. This printer can print on both sides and has a feeder for scanning/xeroxing. There is one "con": it does a lot of head cleaning/adjusting and it can take several minutes to start up and do the 1st print. Even if you are printing several jobs in a row, sometimes it will stop and clean itself (that sounds odd) in between jobs. If you are in a super hurry, this can be annoying. All in all, though this printer is a gazillion times better than that other one. Canon is the brand for printers, in my experience. I hope I haven't jinxed my printer by saying this.

    Great MFP

I have used this printer for a couple months now and I think it works great. Setup WIFI with no issues, printed to it from iPhone 6s as well as Windows 7 laptop with no issues. Like that it has separate ink tanks for each color, 3 color inks and 2 black ink tanks as well as auto-duplex printing and scanning. Unfortunately it will not auto-duplex scan non-letter size paper, tried one that was smaller and larger than letter size and got a message stating paper size was not supported for auto-duplex scanning. Have not printed photos but document prints come out great and scanning works good as well. Have noticed that on auto-duplex scanned documents some lines of text are stretched, like the paper was moved while the printer was scanning that line of the page but it's not bad to make the line unreadable. Have not set it up for fax.
