Nice full featured printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Canon replaced an aging HP printer that finally died. It was easy to set up and use. I like the individual ink cartridges and wireless capability. I do wish the paper door would close itself once the paper is removed.

Quick to print, slow to start
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So as long as you don't let this thing turn off, it's not bad for home-office use. I haven't printed photos, mostly just black/white and some color documents for school/work. I replaced my similar model (outdated, now) that fried the print head. From what I understand it's a common thing for Canon, but I still cannot argue with print quality I've seen in the past from the brand. Regardless, it takes forever for it to start up if turned off, don't store it in warm/dry places, don't let the print head NOT print for more than a week, and expect to spend high money on replacement cartridges (a big problem with ALL the major printer brands). Still, it gets the job done if you've got the patience. Watch for it to be on sale.

Less features than older models
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved the MX870 & ours is still working well both for productivity & quality photo prints. It prints envelopes in batches using the back paper feed & only jams occasionally. The MX922 has no back paper feed. The primary paper tray is shallow so I will not be able to use it for batch envelopes. The 2nd paper tray only holds up to 5x7. It does at least print decent quality photos. But if any dimension greater than 7" paper has to go in the bottom tray (clearly designed for regular paper). On the very first attempt it pulled through 2 pieces of paper & printed my photo on regular paper, rather than the photo paper I placed on top of the stack of copy paper. This printer is a step backwards for Canon. I spent time on the phone with them and unless we complain, we are going to get less features on these printers in the future. They are moving to a focus on single purpose printers. If you want to print odd sizes & thicknesses...you have to purchase a craft printer. If you need to copy/scan/print more than one page at a time you have to purchase a multifunction printer but don't expect it to handle odd sizes & thicknesses. If you are like me & just want one printer than can do all of this, please let them know! The 870 worked very well.

Very Nice Printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Canon has a good reputation for its quality products. Purchased this model because of its overall popularity as a good seller as well as the nice price at the time of purchase. Also, researched ink pricing to be somewhat more reasonable than most others. All the features are incorporated into a not to large unit. Initial warm-up is pretty slow though. Otherwise, all good if you are not in any hurry.

Excellent Printer From Canon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a HP Photosmart 6520 a few months ago from Best Buy. It worked fine, until Verizon needed to replace my Fios Router. That's when the HP became a nightmare. With over 15 hours of extremely frustrating tech support between Verizon and HP, the 6520 could not find my home network. So, I owned a big black brick, which couldn't print. Best Buy saved the day, when they approved the return of the 6520 after several months of use with full credit towards another printer. This IS why I'm a loyal Best Buy customer. Kudos Best Buy. Not wanting to have a repeat issue with a HP printer, I did some research and the Canon Pixma MX922, while a bit higher in cost than I might have liked to spend, was highly reviewed. So, I replaced my HP with this Canon. It connected instantly to my home network. The set up was seamless, simple, easy, painless (HP should have something this simple). The print quality is superb, it's fast, it holds 250 sheets of paper, it's quiet and it's actually attractive for a home printer. A bonus is this printer has an ethernet port, so even if it wouldn't connect via Wifi, it would connect directly to a router, so it's very versatile. If you have Verizon Fios as your home IP, don't, I repeat DON'T buy a HP Printer (unless it has an Ethernet port). I'm now a Canon Printer convert.

Another winner from Canon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Canon printer and I could not be more pleased with it, Especially since it was essentially free. The cost of the printer (on sale) was about the same as cost as a full set of replacement ink tanks for my older model. So a no brainer to get this one. It is a lot bigger (taller, not width or depth) but has some added and desireable features, most notably a sheet feeder, that makes scanning or copying multi page documents a breeze. Also does double sided printing, which saves a lot of paper. Setup is a bit complicated but if you follow the instructions, you should be good go. The most unusual step was putting in the special sheet of notched paper to align the heads. Wi-fi works fine. Drivers and software can be an issue. Make sure you uninstall any existing printer software or drivers, even Canon stuff, before you install this one. I did not and ran into some scanning software issues. Tip. Make sure to uncheck the "Let windows manage my printers" checkbox on the printer device setup menu before running installation disc. . Color photos look great (comes with a small sample pack of 4x6 paper. The biggest downside it does eat ink like there is no tomorrow and it is expensive to replace. Save money by ignoring the printer when it tells you it is out of ink. It probably is not. Note it says "estimated ink levels." Just keep printing until its clear the ink has run out. Depending on usage, there are probably weeks or months more of ink left once you get the "out of ink" warnings. Canon obviously makes money on the ink, not the printers so they want you to buy more as soon as possible.. .
