I bought the product 2 weeks ago and so far I am NOT impressed . First it is very hard to connect to the network . Plus , it does not give an alternative to load the software if your PC does not have a CD drive .. I had to spend an hour to find the drivers as well as the software to load . Then last , so far I coul only print 3 good photos .. the remainder of the photos are smudgy and have off color . That is a big turn off . The Canon rep was basically no help at all ..

Upon opening up and starting the set up process something was not right. Called canon and they told me it was broke from the start. Spending that much money it should not be defective from the start

I got this printer for free, brand new with another purchase. I purchased a Cannon 5D Body and it came with the deal. If I say where... BB will delete the post. This printer can print pictures taken with my $7000.00 camera like posters!!! But... get ready , it eats ink like a 65 Camaro goes through fuel. You will not be disappointed other than big bucks for Ink. dont' use 3rd party ink. Those inks work OK at first, When they sit in the printer without using the printer for weeks< it clogs the jets and ruins the printer. If you have the dough to spend on Ink, you cant go wrong. Im so happy I got it for free. Using it for a year now and printed beautiful pictures that hang on my walls. IF... you go through a LOT of ink, and it wont sit in the printer, go 3rd party. When tose are Empty, throw Canon in there. Its like switching from Premium gas to regular on occasion to keep those injectors clean.

I have purchased several of these for use at my place of work and everyone who uses it is immediately impressed by the quality of the prints and how easy this printer is to use. When paired with the right paper and the right profile, the images produced by this machine are terrific. I use a combination of Canon Pro Luster, Canon Pro Platinum Glossy, and Moab Slickrock Metallic Pearl paper and I have nothing but happy customers. If you are looking to get into photo and art printing at a low price point, you can't beat the Pro-100.

This canon works better than I expected. Very easy set up compare to Epson printer and great mobile app support. Printing quality is good (by this category) and print speed is decent. Because this is a dye-base ink printer, there is no annoying print head clogging issue associated with Epson pigment base printer (which forces you to print something every week or you waste few % ink to clean the print head). Overall it's an awesome printer for photography geek like me.

Really great prints, I'm so glad that I chose this printer. It's a little bigger than my last printer, but it has been doing a great job so I love it!

Bought this to replace an All-in-one printer/scanner. This prints absolutely great pictures, better than a regular printer. Also, the ability to do large 13" prints is excellent (haven't used it yet, but planning to do a few Wedding pictures for our walls).

PIXMA PRO-100 poor print quality with new computer

    Posted .

The Canon PIXMA PRO-100 was a great printer, but not when used with new Windows 10 versions… Degraded print quality and terrible customer service and support. Canon doesn’t care. I had been a long-time satisfied Canon customer for cameras and printers, but that’s changed… My wife is a professional photographer. We had been using our old Dell XPS computer with our PRO-100 and were impressed with the photo print quality. We recently purchased a new Dell XPS computer and immediately noticed degraded clarity of photo prints. We tested by printing the same photos from the old computer to compare, and confirmed the problem. I opened a support ticket with Canon. I emailed their support engineer a photo of side by side prints and they acknowledge the problem. After a thorough assessment they could not figure out what was wrong. They told me to reinstall the OS. I reinstalled Windows 10 but it did not fix the problem. Canon support told me it was a problem with Windows 10 and to contact Microsoft. They took no responsibility to work the issue with Microsoft themselves. I opened a ticked with Dell and when they could not figure out the problem they had me reinstall the OS again with a download directly from Microsoft. The problem still was not fixed. Dell engineering did exhaustive analysis (THANK YOU Dell) and concluded it was a PRO-100 driver compatibility issue with new Windows 10 builds. After 4 months of support calls with Canon, often waiting more than 45 minutes on hold, and where support often failed to get back to me. I mailed them sample prints and other requested information. Canon support engineers ruled out anything specific to my configuration. I even wrote a letter to Canon US executive management, who did not have the courtesy to respond. I finally got in touch with a Canon support manager. He told me there was nothing more Canon could do. Given the level of troubleshooting by both Canon and Dell, the print quality problem is clearly not an isolated problem. If you want great print quality and a vendor that stands behind their product when you need them, you should give up on Canon and look elsewhere. The PRO-100 had been a leader in this space, but it is now 5 year old technology with an apathetic vendor who no longer cares. I recommend you consider the Epson SureColor P700 or P900. Newer more modern technology and great reviews.

I purchased this printer to do prints for clients and it does well! Semi-slow printing but that's not really an issue for a small business.

    Burns up print heads

I really want to give this printer a good review, but it's impossible. I've been printing postcards as part of my business for about 18 years now, and every time Canon obsoletes another PIXMA printer, I'm forced to upgrade to something new in order to print glossy on one side and matte on the other side using Red River paper cards. I've gone through 2 PRO-100 printers in 2 years, and this second one has burned up 6 print heads in the one year I've had it. It will print just fine for some period of time, and then start losing colors. I run the Nozzle test, and one or the other bank will be completely dead. I'll run 6 or 8 cleanings, wasting lots and lots of ink, and sometimes the colors will come back. I'll run a few more batches of cards. (A batch is about 100 a week). And then colors will drop out again. Another nozzle test, another cleaning, deep cleaning, finally it works again. After 6 print heads (at $100 a piece) this time around, I'm convinced it's the printer and not the print heads. So I'm going to spring for another $350 (rebated and discounted) price. The ink tanks are criminally tiny for the price. Canon has no alternative for people who print postcards for a living. In fact, nobody really makes anything that can handle glossy and matte on the same heavy card stock in these batch sizes. I'm disgusted.

I love the picture quality that comes out of this printer. Hate the constant print test to maintain functionality. god forbid you miss one 24 hour cycle, takes hours to get group two to work again. Haven't bought a canon in 18 years cause i got burned by them. Based on reviews and comments of photographers gave this one a try before buying a big one of theirs. I cannot justify 100.00 in ink to print three 13x19 photos and a multitude of test prints to make sure the ink doesn't dry in the head.
