You don't get an error message, just a circle that keeps spinning endlessly. Online support is frustrating and inadequate, Canon has no phone support. I returned in less than 24 hours after it was delivered. Good riddance.

But so far it works very well as a scanner and a printer, but like many ir most people that no longer have a landline, I am unable to assess the fax component
