This is only the second lens I bought, and it was cheaper then other 24-105 mm lenses because of the F/4-7.1. I wanted to buy a lens that was 24-105 mm f/4 or less, but those are $2000 or more. I've loved photography all my life, but I would consider myself a beginner with a mirrorless camera, so I did not want to spend $2000 on a lens just yet. So the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 is less then $400 and very versatile! For travel, I used it the most, even though my first lens was f/1.8 and let in more light, it was only 35 mm micro lens, so for travel I needed something more versatile where I could get closer to things that were too far away if I wanted to get more details in certain objects in the photo. I don't think I really noticed the aperture until night time, but for the most part you don't notice, or it can easily be solved with a flash. I love the pictures that come out of this lens! And I've taken a lot good quality photos with it now! Pictures come out crisp!

A way BETTER LENS than the stock 18-55.
This lens has the right focal lengths. You will need a small light to accommodate the smaller aperture during low light photography and video.
The base length and zoom length though are incredible. Nature photography is great with this!

It's no L series but you cant complain about the price. Canon offers these lenses as an inexpensive option for amateur photographers but the quality is much better than expected.

Lens itself is good but doesn't reach as far as i wanted. Also the man who helped us said it would reach that far when explaining everythang i wanted to use it for. He also said it was an autofocus that would do for itself, well it doesn't i have to move it to focus for me. It should've been better for the price and should've just taken the lens that came with the camera for alittle more than $200 than $400

I did not actually get to try it out. It did not fit my camera at all. I accidently ordered the wrong one. But i did have to pay best buy $60 for them to take it back. I now buy my camera lens elsewhere.
