No comprehensive manual for this model. A manual for a similar model is online.Easy to put together but set up of electronic finder tricky. Star finder function requires completely clear skies to consistently work.
Telescope and lenses function well. A nice beginner scope.

Although I'm giving 4 stars, this is a very satisfying telescope. It's just doesn't look the price tag, but in actuality, it's a good telescope and in good set of hands, this will get you to see things up in the sky with a reasonable clarity.

Got this for my elementary astronomy class. This is a good middle ground from the super expensive and really cheap. Easy set up and useful app to help find stars once you get it lined up. I would recommend this for older kids and adults who are interested in the night sky.

Love it! I've had it since the summer and love the ease of use. I upgraded after 20 years with a cheap telescope and this blows it out of the water. The 25mm and 10mm eyepieces are good and you can always buy other eyepeices. The red dot finderscope is so useful and I use it way more than the app. The smartphone dock and app are fine, but the app can be off, so the finderscope helps keep it all together and useful when the app is being difficult and won't align properly.

Celestron Starsense Explorer DX 130AZ Refractor

The Celestron Starsense Explorer DX 130AZ is a well made refractor beginning telescope that utilizes the processing power of newer cellphones in conjunction with a Starsense Explorer App that provides for manual guidance of the telescope to a selected celestial object. By moving the telescope using arrows on the App towards the user’s chosen object, one can not only reach the chosen object to view, but also develop a greater knowledge of the location of celestial objects in the sky. A clear sky is required for the App to function correctly, but due to the provided red dot finder a user can also manually find objects in the sky the “old-fashioned” way. The OTA with a f/5 focal ratio five inch (130mm) aperture and 650mm focal length allows for sufficient light gathering power to be able to view objects clearly and sharply. The OTA is made of steel with other parts of the telescope made of a high quality plastic. The tripod is aluminum. The focuser is a 2 inch rack and pinion type with an included adapter for the use of 1.25 inch eyepieces. Included 1.25 inch eyepieces are fair quality 1.25 inch 25mm and 10mm.

I bought this telescope as a gift for my daughter who had been wanting a telescope. It arrived on time from Best Buy and in good shape. Assembly was easy and the product seems pretty sturdy for a device at this price point. It is a great entry level telescope.

Really easy to set up and use. The app integration is really cool. One of the included lenses seems a little cheap and tends to be difficult to focus, but hopefully it can be replaced or upgraded.

I purchased this telescope for my dad. Thought it would be a great Father’s Day gift. After watching a short video online, the telescope was ready to use, or so we thought. Aligning the telescope has been a struggle. The instructions if comes with are not detailed. I am pretty generous with my ratings, but for this product, I’m giving it three stars. It could be that we are beginner star gazers, but researching telescopes, I was under the impression this was a beginner scope.

Once you learn how to use the telescope it is so much fun for the whole family. We bought an extra lense kit to see planets. we couldn’t believe the amount of detail seen. For the price this is an excellent beginner model. My 10yr old son is even able to set up and use on his own. Lightweight so easy to travel with.

Great little telescope for the beginner but I’m not too happy with the software. It’s very hard for the software to work with the positioning. It repeatedly failed trying to find the telescope. But I found many objects manually.
The quality was really good. We could see Neptune and Saturn and even the rings around Saturn! We used it all summer and had a great time with our neighbors viewing the skies.

Bought this for my 12/14 yr old grandsons to experience the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction of Dec2020. They were able to set it up easily and were quickly checking out the conjunction, Moon and Mercury all with minimal help from adults. The smartphone app is an amazing help for novice stargazers to ease with finding celestial objects.
Highly recommend this Celestron product. I own a 130mm, also from Celestron, also a great product.
