I was fortunate enough to be invited to a private listening party to hear tracks from the album on 8/1/2008. After hearing Bitter for Sweet, Stiff Kittens and Semiotic Love on their Myspace page, the 3 additional tracks were even futher proof that these two gentleman are on to something! We were given the album two weeks early and I have been listening to it every day since then. The album is driven by Jades songwritting talents that match and compliment Davey's lyrical abilities so well. The subject matter seems to be a bit more personal than previous work released by these two musicians from AFI. The songs that stand out for me are Semiotic Love which strikes me as an emotional discharge in a very nice contrast to the semi uplifting beat/music; The Fear of Being found seems to be directly influenced by the works of the wonderful Depeche Mode and has that same meloncholy approach to describing feelings that most of us have yet are unable to completely speak freely about; Again, Again and Again presents a struggle in controlling the urge to dance, a great song; Bitter for Sweet is probably the closest thing on the album to a song from AFI is that is what you are looking for in this album. However, be warned that you are barking up the wrong tree if you want an continuation of DECEMBERUNDERGROUND. This is a new expression of musical abilties, keep your preconceived notions away and be ready to dance! I believe the Best Buy version has an additional song exclusive to them, so pick this version up along with the different versions released to other retailers and iTunes. You wont be sorry!

This is not your mother's AFI.

Blaqk Audio is comprised of members of AFI. Davey Havok's familiar voice is probably the only similarity to that band. Not that that's a bad thing. This album was mainly written by Jade Puget (guitar for AFI) and is electronic based. Synthesizers, drum machines and sampler loops. The vocals were written and sung by Davey Havok, and really works well over this poppy dance club style of music. Most of the songs on this cd are absolutely outstanding, and the people I've showed this to have positively responded. We've all bought tickets to see them when they come to town. It really is a great album, but a few of the songs fall a bit short, thus the 4 star review. If you're an extreme AFI fan, you'll want to pick this up just for that - but if you're into alt. club music (think Depeche Mode meets VNV Nation) you'll like this cd.

If you love the melodic cry of Davey Havok's voice, and the musical genius that is Jade Puget. You will love blaqk audio. Don't be decieved if you like AFI this still might not be for you. But, definately give it a try. I am a HUGE AFI fan, and adore everything Davey does. So yes my bias might be a little strong, don't take that into account. Pick up this album and I guarrantee that at one point and time you will feel the beat through your vains. It is a great side project that will make you want more.

If you like Davey Havok's voice, you definitely NEED this cd. I love everything from AFI, and at first I was kind of skeptical about this electronic side project of Davey and Jade. I had no idea what it would be like, but it is SO good. Davey's voice is beautiful on every song, and the music is so energetic and unique. This is a must-have for any AFI fan, even if you don't think you'd like electronic music. Some of the best songs, in my opinion: Again, Again, and Again Semiotic Love The Love Letter

I received this cd 2 weeks before the date release. I had the opportunity to hear it and receive my own copy at a listening party with Davey and Jade of Blaqk Audio and the cd was also autographed by them. It is an extremely catchy cd. The entire cd is a great compilation of music. It's synthesizers to the max. My personal favorite songs are semiotic Love, Again, again and again and Wake up, open the door and escape to the sea. Highly recommend this purchase
