Overall, the MyQ Smart Garage Video Keypad is a great upgrade from the old, manual keypad I had for my garage door. I can now control and add/remove user PINs remotely from the MyQ app on my phone and I'm not limited to just one code and one temporary code. There have been many times in the past when I wanted to grant temporary access to my garage, but I forgot to program a temporary code into the keypad or ran out of space. The MyQ Smart Video Keypad will solve this problem! Also, the keypad and MyQ service is integrated with Amazon Key (if offered in your area), allowing you to monitor Amazon deliveries inside your garage (banish the porch pirates!). PROS: The keypad is connected via WiFi to the MyQ app on my phone, which allows me to remotely program user PIN codes. You can setup multiple users with "temporary" codes (codes that are only valid for use during a certain date period) or recurring codes that are valid for use during any or all days/times of the week. The app will tell me (via notifications) anytime a PIN code is used to open the garage and I can show a live view from the keypad camera by tapping on the notification. The keypad runs on a rechargable (microUSB cable included), removable battery which is accessed from the rear of the device. I've been using the keypad for 12 days, during which period I watched video streams a few times and used the keypad 5-6 times to open the garage and it's currently reporting 89% battery, so I expect the battery will last about a month with my normal use. CONS: The video features are a nice addition, but like most devices now, Chamberlain hides most of the video features behind a subscription paywall after the initial trial period ends. If you don't subscribe, the video features are limited to only live view from the camera and no "smart" detection of people in the view. Also, I had some difficulty getting the camera installed initially - it refused to connect to my WiFi a few times and the initial firmware update errored out twice.

The MyQ video keypad is slick upgrade from the old school garage door keypad. It is easy to install. It has an angled mount much like a video doorbell. There are two screws used to attach the mount. It did take quite a few hours to charge the battery the first time. Set up using the MyQ app was pretty easy. You do have to press the setup button on the garage door opener to pair it with your garage door just like any other garage door remote. In order to secure the keypad to the keypad mount, there is a setscrew that requires a small allen wrench. The downside to this is that if you lose or misplace the tool, it will be difficult to remove the keypad from the mount so it can be charged. I have not had it long enough to know how long the battery will last, but I am afraid that it may need to be charged more frequently than I like. I charged and mounted it about 9 days ago and it is down to 83% charge. It is nice though that the MyQ app shows the battery state of charge. The keypad buttons cannot be pressed very far and you do have to press the buttons firmly for them to register. I have tried to enter my code and it was not reacting until I pressed the buttons harder. One nice option is that you can create personal passcodes for each family member and or a code for a friend or neighbor. You can enable or disable codes/pins from the MyQ app. The ability to have someone call you from the keypad makes it much like a video doorbell. So if you don’t have a video doorbell, this would also work as one.

This is a great garage keypad and camera. Be sure to remember that this is a subscription based camera and you'll have to pay monthly to get all of the features that it has to offer. The installation process is very simple and the provided hardware makes the install easy. It only takes a few minutes to have it mounted and working. You use the MyQ app to add the keypad to your existing system, assign users and pin numbers and you're done. The app offers the ability to view the video events and the app will also alert you when and who accesses the keypad. The video quality is good and offers a wide view of the area. My wife and I will leave short messages for each other whenever we are using the keypad in hopes that the other will watch the video later. You can also initiate a video call from the keypad. There is a slight delay in the video and audio, but that is to be expected for a basic camera. The keypad works great and looks to be weatherproof. But, the app is what makes this keypad shine, you can see all of the past events, door access, videos, etc. This is a great video keypad.

We recently moved into a new home with a three car garage. We have one large garage door and a single car garage door. We researched the market for a video-enabled garage door opener. With the popularity of front doorbell cameras, it is a logical next step to have a video camera for your garage door. Chamberlain has developed a quality device which checks off all of the boxes when it comes to video monitoring, safety and security. I have used a Chamberlain video camera in our previous home and was impressed with the quality of the video. I find the quality of the video on this video keypad to be excellent as well. It took a couple of attempts for me to synch the keypad code with my Chamberlain garage door opener but when it was synched it operates properly every time. We like the customized key code options for friends or family who need to access our garage when we are away. Like other types of video-enabled devices such as doorbells, there is some latency when it comes to video an audio for this device (maybe 2-3 seconds). Hopefully that will be fixed in the future. The one design concern I have is how well the keypad will hold up to the elements without a cover. I wish they could have designed a cover for the keypad part of the device. We live in Arizona and the sun, heat and dust will likely do a lot of damage over the years. The same could be said for the cold winters of Minnesota as the keypad will get encrusted with ice and snow. All-in-all this is a quality device and I'm sure it will become another must-have device for home security in the years ahead.

Summary -------- A step above the garage keyboard opener we have been using for ages. This is a game changer with the video notifications and a cloud paid subscription for 30 days worth of video recording. Pros ---- 1. Increased garage door security.. 2. Clear videos 3. comes with wedge for mount 4. rechargeable battery 5. Temporary pin capability Cons ---- 1. No local storage and its pricy for subscription 2. wish the keypad bad backlit Details ------- Installation is straight forward, just need to drill some pilot holes and then use the Philips screws for hooking up the keyboard to the garage wall. you can use your myq app to setup the camera just like you setup opening/closing the garage openers Once setup, you get a 30day free trial video recording after which you will need to pay for cloud based recording. It would have been great if you had an microSD card slot to save videos locally which is a bummer. The camera can be setup for different sensitivities by adjusting it. Wish though it had a zone which can be defined for monitoring movements. However, it does capture if a person is close to the camera. I did not get a chance to see how much battery life i can get out of the device and interestingly i did not see any claims being made on how long it will last. only time will tell. I think for a few $$ more than the regular keypad, this is a great device for video recordings.

It's a good device and works well. But the reason for 3 stars is the lack of app control to remotely open the gate. I can remote open the garage door with MyQ, I should be able to remote open with this device. What was Chamberlain thinking?? Another negative is to get the features, you need a subscription. I hate subscriptions as the cumulative costs across all other devices and services is becoming a significant burden. Last issue: The time from the alert to getting into the mobile app, reviewing the alert, and then interacting (voice) with the person at the keypad is far too long. And then this leads to my first issue: the delivery person rings the keypad, I respond, and then I can't remotely open it for the delivery guy to leave the package safely inside. I have to tell him what the code is so he can enter it and open it himself. Dumb.

The best thing MyQ has ever done since they came up with accessing the garage via cellphone. You can see the door exterior and when the door opens up and go down. This gives me the absolute best security I need. PERFECT!!!!!

So far so good. I really like the openers and the camera and sound are a much needed bonus. Spent the extra money and really enjoy the product.

Purchased this and following setup and installation with full battery charge, it lasted about 5 days. At that point i kept getting notifications that the battery had less than 10% charge. I charged it again and same scenario. I called Chamberlain and told them i must have a faulty battery and they sent me a new one. Happened again. They admitted the batteries are “faulty” and are working on a “software” fix! If youre looking for a piece of art to hang next to your garage door…buy one! Recent charge lasted about 34 hours…on the new battery

Unfortunately my garage door opener was not compatible. The instructions are not user friendly. I have installed RING doorbell in the past and the instructions were very clear. Unfortunately the older generation like myself needs simpler instructions and clear information.
