As far as the unit goes, it works as advertised. The wifi reception isn’t that great, but the rest works fine. Where this fell apart for me is that i assumed "Smart Home Device" had a pretty standard definition. It meant that I could integrate this into my existing ecosystem and use it how i wanted to. That's not the case with myQ. The camera is live view only, so you can't have triggered videos without a subscription. Apparently, they got overwhelmed with the utilization from the Smart Home community, so they turned it off. So, I'm going to have to go another way. If you want a true smart home product, this isn't it. You can check your Wi‑Fi signal strength directly in the myQ app under the Video Keypad’s Device Management Settings.
To improve your connection, here are a few helpful options:
Move your Wi‑Fi router closer to the device, if possible.
Use a Wi‑Fi extender to strengthen the signal in your garage area.
The Video Keypad needs to be within 50 ft of your router when using a 5GHz network.
If you connect to a 2.4GHz network, the range increases to 150 ft.
For the best performance, we recommend connecting your Video Keypad to a 2.4GHz network.
