Overall, I am pleased with the Chamberlain - myQ Smart Outdoor Home Security Camera. It was a challenge to set it up, partly because I already have three myQ garage door openers with cameras. When trying to set this outdoor camera up, it disconnected the garage door cameras and the garage door openers. It took a lot of troubleshooting to get everything working as expected.
The Good:
The Chamberlain - myQ Smart Outdoor Home Security Camera is small in size but mighty in capabilities. The camera has outstanding clarity, especially at night. This makes for an excellent security camera. Aside from the bumpy setup, the myQ app is intuitive, intelligent, and easy to navigate to change various settings. The unit doesn’t come with any sort of literature for installation, but there are QR codes for both setup and the app, if you don’t already have the myQ ecosystem setup. The outdoor camera comes with a long wire (25 feet), though it uses a micro-USB connection which is disappointing. I’ll explain more in the next section. The mounting base is easy to install and took less than 10 minutes to get the camera hanging on the side of my home where there was no security camera. The WiFi range is excellent – the camera is installed more than 100 feet from the nearest WiFi hub in my home and the signal is strong and steady (2.4g only)
The Not-So-Good:
While the camera indeed provides a very high quality live view, Chamberlain makes it very, very challenging to get past the subscription services when setting it up. It was actually rather frustrating because I wanted to actually use the camera and see how I liked it before committing to any sort of subscription service. Also, I wish this outdoor camera came in black – and more specifically a black wire. My house is a dark brown stained wood and the wire is very visible. I also wish the camera’s power connection was a USB-C rather than micro-USB. The part where the micro-USB connects to the camera is really sensitive – you really have to push it in to get a flush fit, so an after-market wire wouldn’t work. A black/dark option would be great.
Final Thoughts:
The setup of this outdoor security camera was frustrating, it was eventually worthwhile. If you don’t already have myQ devices installed in your home, perhaps the setup would be easier. If I had the choice, I would definitely buy this camera in black – or at least have the option to get a black micro-USB wire with the unique, snug connection. At the price point, this is a solid outdoor camera with quality resolution and a strong connection.

I own and use a Chamberlain Garage Door Opener with WiFi and have used it with the myQ app for a few years now. Seeing how now they have cameras that pair with the same app really made me want to give it a shot in a sea of cameras in the current market. I was pleasantly surprised with quality (to a certain extent), ease of use and above all, latency.
The camera is super light weight (less than 1lb) but the mount that it is attached to is very durable and strong. It's not going to easily move even with strong winds.
Included in the box is the camera, mounting hardware including screws, power brick and a very generous 25ft USB Micro to A cable to supply power. Box also has 2 printed on QR codes for installation help and the myQ app if you already didn't download it.
Installation is very easy and for me I decided to monitor the garage. Used the included bracket and screwed in the supplied screws and a quick twist and the camera was done. Very adjustable with a nice range of motion to point it exactly where you need it. Setup with the myQ app is also very simple. Once plugged in, the camera was flashing to let you know it is ready for pairing. The app found it instantly, connected to my WiFi network and it was ready to go. For me, after connecting, I thought the camera was frozen or had connection issues but do not worry, I found out it was downloading and installing the latest firmware. After that, I was up and running.
Performance is great. Camera quality in normal light gave nice clear video whether in color or b/w. In dark areas or nighttime, the night vision is excellent. You can see on my screenshot on how well it performs. My gripe is that even though the camera is FHD (1080), any type of zooming, either in night vision or regular color, the picture gets really grainy very fast.
Another HUGE plus is latency. It is on par with the big names. Once I hit play to see live feed, it takes 1-2 seconds before I see it. This is excellent. Also the delay is less than 1 second for me. This means I can basically see anything as it is happening instead of being seconds behind. Great job Chamberlain.
Now when you set up the camera, you do get 30 days of free cloud storage for video recordings. After that, if you like the service, you can purchase the subscriptions to keep it going. If not, you will only get alerts and access to live feed.
All in all, this is a great camera and I do plan on getting more especially for outdoors. I would tell anyone to give them a try, they won me over.

I have the MyQ smart garage door opener and wanted to pair it with a camera. The garage door opener informs me when the doors are opened or closed and also if it has been left open for a period of time. I wanted to monitor my garage with their camera.
It comes with an adapter and micro USB power cable that is a good length. This camera has many settings for detection. You can control the sensitivity of motion, create zones, even smart detection for people, animals, and vehicles. It has many features as any other smart cameras on the market.
The quality is good. When the garage door is closed and the garage light is turned on, the image quality is good enough.
Here are the issues I am having. The app connection to the device is always dropping. There is a wireless access point hanging inside the garage. No other device in the area have issues but both garage door and camera have issues. I want to view the camera, but all it does is it stuck at loading. I even disconnected my phone from Wi-Fi just to rule out that it is my phone that could be an issue. Same results. My garage opener sometimes has this issue as well. I ended up connecting a smart plug so I can cut power to the garage opener to reset it.
The camera does record based on the settings I have it on. I can view them under history. The issue is checking out my garage live or when I want to. It just loads but nothing happens. I have reset the camera and did the entire installation process over. I made sure every thing is up to date. Same results.
I was hoping the camera would be a better product than my garage but sadly it is not from my experience. There is also a paid tier if you want added features.

If your looking for an affordable way into a security camera then this is probably on your radar as it’s high value is the main attraction here. As a long time owner of a Secure View lift master garage door opener with camera that uses the myQ app this integrates perfectly and even gives some benefits of having both.
First off if you have the opener like I do then you have an included basic plan for video storage on the cloud through the app. If not, there is very reasonable ones to be seen here. Also included a free 30 day trial out of the box of the premium features to see if it’s a fit for you.
Anyway the camera itself is good quality, the cable included is robust and has appropriate weather sealing around the connections to ensure use even out in weather. Mounting it is straight forward and simple. Note this does use a usb A power brick and micro usb at the camera input which I find strange in 2025 as those are normally a drawback and why I removed some off the rating.
Though it does not affect the performance and most of the desirable stuff is built into the app. It works very well, smooth and integrates appropriately. It links to the camera right away and is SUPER easy and fast to setup. It can detect people and things using its algorithms which are very quick to send you notifications in the app.
I am not a big fan of subscription based security but it’s a necessary evil if you want to be using cloud storage. In the end the value of the camera for the price and features you get are pretty unbeatable.

Great little wired camera....
Super easy to setup and use.
So setup was super easy. Plug in and download the app and follow the directions. Suggest that you do this in the house and on a table near your router first. There is an update that is needed and it took a while to update.
Initially had some issues with the software my android update but is finally synchronized and it worked just fine.
Comes with a temporary subscription for free.
Pulling up history is super easy. The AI to tell there is a person there is pretty good. You can also record and take snapshots. No problem.
Day and night vision is decent. Also the fact that the camera is small and you can just about put it anywhere as long as you can plug it in the wall outlet and have wireless you are all set.
So if you are looking for a simple camera to use that is needed in a remote location where you have at least WiFi and an electrical plug this is the camera for you.
Easy setup. Small compact. Easy to use. Easy to to pull up images and recording.

The Chamberlain - myQ Smart Outdoor Home Security Camera – White worked well for the first few days, but after that gave me problems. My video stream kept turning black with an error message, “ Oh no something went wrong .Try again”. For days, I could not get any video stream and the help section for camera only deals with the garage camera making the help section useless. I installed the MyQ app on another device and got it to work, even though for a short time it malfunctioned and went offline just as my other device. The night vision is set to work automatically, but does not give any video with clarity at night. I can hear cars riving out the driveway, but the screen shows no defining video of who or what is outside! I receive livestream video, motion detection and notification alerts to my phone every time a person, animal or vehicle is within the cameras pickup range, without a subscription. Notifications are timed stamped and tell what was detected near my porch. This camera has no physical storage within it. You must purchase a subscription for storage at 7 days of video history for $3,99 monthly or 30 days of video history for $9.99 monthly. Premium features add video recording, face detection and activity zone customization of motion detection. When online, videos and pictures are clear and give detail of everything in camera range. Sound is heard, but not that much volume is produced on my devices. The Chamberlain - myQ Smart Outdoor Home Security Camera – White works sometimes and has problems maintaining an online connection and has faulty night vision. Video recorded during morning, afternoon and early even records fine, but late night recording is just a black screen.

This security camera is wired!
It comes with a very long long usb-c cable provides power. I mounted mine fairly easily to the outside of the garage and stapled the cable nicely all the way to an indoor outlet about ten feet away. There was ample cable considering turns and wraps. And I won't have to replace batteries every two weeks like my other cameras.
WI-FI connection is strong and I am able to connect way faster than my other brand cameras which often take forever (or never) to open a live stream.
Image quality is actually pretty good. 1280x720 images. 1920x1080 video. Not sure what's up that that resolution discrepancy...but the resolution is very good. 4k is enough to see faces and license plates. Night vision is clear.
The app is easy to use and does everything you expect it to. Download videos, images, view recording history, adjust detection areas, and notifications.
There's no free option for video storage with any available possible hardware purchases. It's cloud or nothing. This is in contrast to some other products. The subscription is $100 a year for all myQ cameras you might own or $40 a year for a single camera. Their is an additional difference between these two packages which is video retention. 30 day vs 7 day. This is acceptable.
Great quality, good value, and no technical issues found!

The my Q Smart Outdoor Wired Camera is actually part of the myQ Smart Garage product range and though it is preferred that the camera be used in conjunction with other products, the my Q here can be used as a standalone product.
The my Q is very minimal and inside the box, you’ll find the camera itself, a mounting plate with screws, a 25 ft long USB cable and a 5V charge. There are no manuals included but there are QR codes both for physical installation and setup printed inside the box.
Directions for physically installing the camera is pretty straightforward. Just select the location where you want the camera. Screw the mounting plate, attach the camera and plug in the camera. Setting it up is also pretty straightforward too. Just download the my Q app for iOS or Android. Create an account and follow instructions and you’re good to go.
Once setup and you’re good to go. Upon using you’ll be given a thirty day trial to experience the full experience of what my Q offers then you’re back to basics. The basic service which is free is simply video monitoring. And while it is only 1080p, the video clarity is topnotch during the day. At night your mileage may vary. In order to have video recording, person monitoring, and all the bells and whistles of a security cam, you have to subscribe to their plan. As a standalone camera, this may be a hardsell as the competition is pretty much diverse from free to paid. How I wish this has local storage. But if you are invested in their garage door opener system, then this is highly recommended as this will definitely complement your garage security.

Having already installed the myQ garage door opener, I was looking for a camera to monitor the driveway. I wasn’t looking for an expensive camera that may need to be recharged. So I opted for the myQ Smart Outdoor Wired Camera.
Affordable doesn’t mean cheap! This camera comes with 1080p resolution, two-way communication, motion detection, 130-degree field of view and twenty-five feet of outdoor rated power cord. You can even live stream from the camera as well.
Setup is extremely easy. Download the myQ app for your Apple or Android device. Create a profile and follow the instructions on the app to add the camera. Once the camera is set up and connected to your Wi-Fi you can move on to mounting the camera.
It’s really that simple, however the camera provides a very clear and vivid video. myQ has several different plan levels to store your videos, from a basic plan that doesn’t record any videos, a plan that provides long term storage and in between. myQ seems to have covered every budget.
This isn’t the most sophisticated camera with regards to configuration. Other cameras allow you to set the sensitivity to movement detected or a specific area to be monitored. There are settings for cars, animals or people, but no way to set high or low sensitivity.
I have been very happy with the myQ camera but wish I could set the sensitivity. This is a very good basic camera.

TL;DR - the video quality is good but the dependency on an internet connection for recording video is a drawback. While the camera itself has a smart design, I would have preferred USB-C instead of Micro-USB for the power connection and the AC adapter's bulk makes it difficult to use in many in-use plug covers. Video quality is great and nighttime video quality is excellent, but because of the design flaws and the lack of local recording options, I can only recommend this to people with plenty of outdoor power and internet connections with massive upload bandwidth. By far my biggest problem, however, is that you have to pay a monthly or yearly fee to have functionality beyond an outdoor camera, meaning you're paying a kinda high price for the right to rent something you bought.
Unboxing and setup - I do like the way this is packaged, plastic sack and film over the camera, the super-long power cable (25 feet!!!) and AC adapter nicely tucked in, and a backplate and screws that make this super easy to install. I wish it would have come with cable clips, however, as that long cable tends to drape over long distances. For the price, this could have also come with a shorter cable for those who have power outlets in their soffits or at different levels of their exterior.
Adding it to the MyQ app was extremely easy. Unlike most cameras and DVRs, this is configured using Bluetooth, meaning you don't have to line up the camera with a QR code on your phone or read a hard-to-scan QR code with your phone. Of course, if you don't already have paid MyQ services, you will get hit with upsells from the MyQ app for video recording service.
(Pro-tip - if you don't subscribe as you set up, you'll be offered 20% off for a year of services after the fact.)
Mounting is easy, but the screws packed in were a little small. I ended up using slightly larger stainless-steel screws to mount to wood siding. Aiming and securing the camera is also pretty easy - the mounting hardware makes it easy to adjust and secure where you're aimed.
I have a love/hate relationship with the way power is. I love that this came with a 25-foot-long power cable, with water-tight gaskets for both ends. I hate that it didn't come with an optional shorter (~8 feet maybe) option for a power cord, and I hate that the AC adapter is as bulky as it is, making it difficult to use with an in-use outdoor outlet cover; a power cube like what the iPhone comes with would have been a better design choice here. Luckily, if you have outdoor outlets with USB power connectors, most of those will output more than enough power to be usable with this camera.
Usage - it works like any other outdoor camera, as long as you have a subscription to the MyQ services. Detection zones, face recognition, pet recognition, motion sensing - it's all there, just behind a paywall. At least it's not using huge amounts of bandwidth for recording video to the MyQ servers.
One really neat feature is how you can use the AI features of MyQ to automatically close your garage and lock doors should an unknown come into view. While this probably works for entry doors (I don't have any MyQ-enabled door locks so I couldn't try this), it didn't work well for my garage door as it didn't trigger a door close until I was close enough to stick my foot in for the auto-reverse function to kick in.
Herein is the rub for MyQ, however - other companies make cameras for about the same price that are useable without a monthly fee for anything outside of live video. Many brands have good detection features, some with on-device zone, person, and pet detection.
So all in all, I feel like MyQ smart outdoor camera is good at being a camera but not good at being a good value. Had the camera itself been less expensive, it would be easier to recommend. Considering there are cameras that are far less expensive with similar subscription fees and cameras that cost about the same with local recording options, I'm hard-pressed to recommend this for anyone other than those who are set on MyQ, and even then, I'd recommend other options.

The myQ smart outdoor wired camera comes with the following:
Camera with mount
2 screws
mounting plate
2 drywall anchors
power adapter
25 feet USB to Micro USB cable
There are also 2 QR codes for downloading the quick start guide and the myQ application.
The camera has a built-in LED light and a microphone for conversing. The camera is full HD at 1080p along with 130 degrees field of view and motion detection. The application allows live streaming and 2-way talk. As an added feature you have color night vision. The camera is weather resistant, and this should be considered in placement of the camera outside. The camera needs to be located within 24 feet of the power outlet, and if outside the outlet should also be placed in a weatherproof container that can close completely. Due to the size of the power adapter, you will need a larger weatherproof container. The outlet should be a GFCI outlet. The placement of the camera should not be in direct sunlight.
The quality of the output to the phone is ok, but you need to have a subscription to store and retrieve the video. In the basic mode all you get is monitoring the camera live.

I was a bit hesitant to get a camera for my garage. I live in South Texas and the heat and humidity tend to pretty much destroy anything that is rated for outdoor use, and even then you still might have some issues. When I came across this Smart Outdoor camera by Chamberlain I thought this would be exactly what I was looking for.
Setup could not be easier. I had it unboxed and connected to power in my kitchen first to start connecting it to my Wi-Fi. I already have the MyQ app on my phone since we use it for our garage door. All I needed to do was open the MyQ app and connect the camera to it. Entire process took less than 5 minutes and that was even with an update that needed to be installed to the camera once it was registered. I already knew my Wi-Fi signal should be fine in my garage since the garage door motor is on the same Wi-Fi and connected to that MyQ app. I used the included plate, and hardware to get the camera mounted in my garage so that I could see everything within the garage as well as whatever was in my driveway when the garage door is open. Image is super clear, and sound is also crisp. No problems seeing at night when the lights are off in the garage.
Smart notifications are also great, you get a notification and a small thumbnail when the camera senses motion; even letting you know if it’s a person or a vehicle. I love that I can see when my kids get home, or check on them when they are playing in the driveway. The 2 way radio also comes in handy.
I’ve only had it setup for about a week so time will tell how it will hold up to the South Texas summer, but I have confidence it will do well. The camera was a breeze to get going, and the image quality is stellar. The MyQ app is great and smart notifications are handy. This is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a quality outdoor camera.

The MyQ Outdoor Camera is a compact 1080p resolution, 130-degree wired outdoor camera. It has two way audio, motion detection, facial recognition, and infrared/color night vision. Setup is simple: load the MyQ app on your phone, power on the camera, and hit 'search'. Once the camera is found, select the wifi and set the password, and you're pretty much done. Next step is selecting a paid plan, more on this later. By default, you are signed up for the 30 day trial 'pro' plan. Managing the camera and options is equally simple.
The camera is powered by a micro-usb connector and comes with a 25ft usb to micro-usb cable and usb power supply. Both the cable ends have o-rings to seal out water and dirt. The unit is IP65 rated, which means dust and splash. Not sure how it would fare in a downpour.
The image is available in the MyQ app. I have a Chamberlain WiFi garage door opener and wanted a camera in the garage. The image quality is pretty good, better than I expect with a 1080p camera, but not up to 2K or 4K image quality. The motion detection, and type selection (humans, animals, vehicles) all worked really well, as did the surprisingly good face recognition.
I had ideas of using it to auto close the garage door. Our garage can get very damp in the Winter and very hot in the Summer, so I thought the outdoor camera a better choice. That feature appears to be a subscription only feature, along with storage, motion type selection, face recognition and all automation features. Live video and basic motion alerts are the only features available without a subscription, which adds $40/yr for the single camera for 7 days storage or $100/yr for multiple cameras, more features, and 30 days storage. The MyQ ecosystem seems to only include wire powered cameras with 1080p resolution and garage door openers currently, which makes the cameras and plans a limiting choice. Didn't really test it, but I'm also leery of the IP65 rating for locations where the camera would be exposed to heavy rainfall.

I was looking for a basic smart camera to set up to monitor the door of a shop/garage on the property. I didn't need a whole suite of cameras and a giant recording box like with a lot of options on the market. I wanted something a step above a smart doorbell and this hits the sweet spot for me. The packaging is small and the camera isn't too large. I feel like this is a more discreet option than a giant camera you have to really mess with to get the right angle. This works well enough to monitor the door area and anyone or anything that would pass by the area while no one is around. I may get a second one to cover more of the driveway at some point but this is doing a great job for now. I appreciate the small size of the camera and this is probably the easiest camera to set up out of similar security products I've used in the past. The app works well and the picture quality was better than I expected given the size of the camera. Set up and connecting to the app was also super easy. It seems weather proofed well but we've had pretty fair weather since I received the camera. We do have a storm coming this week thah will really put this to the test but with how solidly it installed I'm not very concerned. This is a great option for people wanting an easy install and setup.

I've been using the Chamberlain myQ Smart Outdoor Home Security Camera for a few weeks now, and it's been a solid addition to my home security setup.
Installation & Setup: Mounting the camera was straightforward. The included 25-foot power cord provided flexibility in positioning, and the adjustable mount made it easy to get the right angle. Setting it up with the myQ app was a breeze, thanks to the integrated Bluetooth connection. The app guided me through connecting to my 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network without any hiccups.
Security Features: One of the standout features is the AI-powered detection. The camera can distinguish between people, vehicles, and animals, which helps in reducing false alerts. I set up custom detection zones to focus on specific areas, like my driveway, and it's been effective in notifying me only when necessary. The face detection feature is a nice touch, recognizing familiar faces and adding an extra layer of personalization.
Night & Color Vision: The 1080p full HD video quality is crisp during the day, and the color night vision ensures clear footage even in low-light conditions. The 130º wide-angle lens covers a broad area, and the 360º adjustable swivel allows for comprehensive coverage.
Detection Modes: The camera offers various detection modes, including motion, people, vehicles, and animals. These modes can be customized in the app, allowing me to tailor the notifications to my preferences. The smart detection feature ensures I get relevant alerts without being overwhelmed by unnecessary notifications.
Conclusion: Overall, the Chamberlain myQ Smart Outdoor Home Security Camera is a reliable and feature-rich option for outdoor surveillance. Its easy installation, advanced detection capabilities, and integration with the myQ ecosystem make it a valuable addition to any smart home. If you're already using myQ devices, this camera seamlessly fits into the setup. However, keep in mind that to access features like video storage and advanced AI detection, a subscription is required.
