Quickly heats water but....

Started off as a great kettle.

Used daily for making tea, worked well and fast, but kettle is very short-lived. 1st kettle lasted for 4 months until the lid hinge suddenly cracked. Got a replacement through geek squad and 2nd one worked pretty well, then 7 months down the line the kettle would not shut off after boiling was complete. Few days later, the kettle powered on, but never heated.

No rust lid
