Didnt know I needed this but the Ring Pro customer service folks said it was necessary because of distance from my router to door. This has made the world of difference. I receive all of the notifications. Its working very well.

    Keeps Losing Connection (Beware)

My wife picked up the ring chrime pro so we can hear the Ring doorbell inside the house without the having to get our smartphones. It was fine for 3 week but now it loses its connection several times a day and needs to be reset. There is not problem with our wifi and the signal is good. Unit doesn't reconnect without power cycle and it takes down the ring doorbell if you associate with the chime.

    Working for me!

I have a Ring Video Doorbell and wanted to add a Spotlight Camera (battery version) to my setup. I placed the camera on the front of my garage area and instantly had the worse wifi connection imaginable (I have that Cox Panoramic "whole house" internet, it's not all it's chalked up to be, go figure) . My router is in a rooom located at the other end of my approximately 1700 SF ranch style home. I debated on whether or not I'd get the Ring Chime Pro or a traditional wifi extender from another brand. Knowing how persnickety Ring products tend to be, I figured I'd better just go with the Chime Pro. I first set it up inside the house, plugging it into an outlet closest to my garage, which happened to be in a bedroom. My wifi still sucked. So, I decided to try plugging it into one of the outlets inside my garage, and that did the trick. I don't remember what my RSSI signal strength was prior to getting the Chime Pro, but just believe me when I say that it was off the chain dismal. As of this writing, it's showing as a green RSSI-53, which the app tells me is "better than most." I have no problems bringing up videos or live views now, they come up almost instantaneously. One weird thing, I already had a regular Ring Chime. I want to use that one for my doorbell alerts and the Chime Pro for my driveway camera and had set it up that way when I still had the Chime Pro in the house. After initially setting it up, Chime Pro fell silent, however, when I went into the app to test the sound, it was the regular Chime that responded! I've got to figure that out, which is why I took off a star, but the device overall is exactly what I needed.

I needed to get my stick up cam some WiFi. It wasn’t working properly and giving a signal strength of -68 to -70. I checked our WiFi. It was not us - we are blazing! So I read about the chime pro. I read some of these reviews that it didn’t work and was skeptical. I bought it anyway and worked exactly as advertised! I put the stick up cam on the Chime pros network and now I’m getting a signal strength of -44. Better than my doorbell that is running directly off my router and consistently pulls -48 to -50. Thanks Ring! Works great!

We bought the Ring ll several months ago and our modem is in the back of the house in my sons room. It seemed to take forever for us to open up the camera and it said our Wi-Fi was weak. I kept reading the reviews about the chime pro and a lot were negative but I thought it’s worth a try. I purchased it and plugged it up on the wall beside my front door where my ring is and big difference! My Wi-Fi showed good and now I can open up the live view and motion alerts quicker. It was definitely worth the $49 for me.

    Didn't work for me

I love my doorbell cam and my spotlight cam. I noticed in the Device Health section that they were getting poor scores for Wifi Signal health (I just bought a brand new Nighthawk wifi router). So I decided to try out the Chime Pro for the wifi extender function. I don't fully understand why, but the Chime, plugged in, indoors, about 30 feet away from the router gets a WORSE signal than the doorbell, which is about the same distance away in the same direction but outside the front door. I attempted to move the Chime around to different parts of the house and the signal reception never improved. I even plugged it in to an outlet that was directly behind the router on the other side of a drywall wall, and the signal got worse. My curiousity peaking, I got an extension cord and held the Chime pro up in the middle of the room where the router is located, and again, the RSSI score was lower (-27). Its possible its just something to do with my router setup or how my home is shaped, but the Chime Pro does me no good and I returning it.

      Hi Ken99999,

Hmm, this does not sound right. Even with a Chime Pro, we recommend at least 1 Mbps upload speeds for Doorbell and Stick Up Cams and at least 2 Mbps for Doorbell Pros/Doorbell 2/Video Doorbell Elite/Floodlight Camera or Spotlight Camera when connecting through the Chime Pro. Upload speeds that are significantly lower can lead to degraded video quality and other performance issues. Would you be so kind as to email me directly at [email protected]?

    Not worth the money

I purchased the Ring Pro doorbell bundled with the Chime Pro. The Chime Pro is not just a chime but is a WiFi extender and needs to be placed between your router and the doorbell. If you already have high speed Internet throughout your house (I have 100 mbps service) you probably don’t need the extender and if you use it it may degrade the signal between your Ring devices. I just wanted to have a chime upstairs to augment my mechanical chime downstairs. Every time I added the Chime Pro and attempted to use live view from any device it would not work and would disconnect the doorbell from the network. When I removed the Chime Pro everything works great. I guess there are situations where a Chime Pro would work OK but if you just want an additional chime for a back bedroom or upstairs location this is not the answer.

I had a Ring Video Doorbell that struggles to connect using wifi because the wifi range became limited that it starts to lag more often that it was. However as I bought this product, it produces sounds when someone rings the doorbell, and it significantly reduces lag from my video doorbell. This is a recommended choice for someone who has a poor wifi range.

Useless except for making noise inside your home.

One word. Useless. As others have stated and regardless of what a few reviews/folks have claimed DOES NOT help extend connectivity to the doorbell. Those of you that were fortunate enough to actually gain something from this product must be some sort of wireless messiah.... Yes, firmware was current on both devices. For starters, I have an enterprise class network in my home with various access points installed throughout. I wanted to try the wireless Doorbell 2 due to its price before I dropped the coin for a better one that I could run POE and be guaranteed a solid connection at all times. All of my network gear are all SonicWall components. None of my equipment is "shelf bought" just for the record. Anywhere in the house, capable wireless devices will receive a 100mb by 100mb connection which I have capped for various reasons. With ANY connected device at the doorbells installed location, you will get 40mb-45mb symmetrical. PLENTY of bandwidth to use the doorbell. Doorbell signal before installing the Chime Pro was -70 to -78 (translates roughly to below 1mb) which honestly is useless because it will fail to send notifications and live view will refuse your connection and time out. Installed the chime pro. There is an outlet exactly 4.5 feet from the doorbell. The Chime Pro reported a solid perfect signal per Ring's app. There is only one wall in between the extender and the doorbell. There was ZERO improvement with the doorbell connected to the new "ring network". Moved extender all around on the front wall of the house as well as moved the doorbell around on adjacent walls. Still ZERO improvement. Doorbell constantly reported low signal from doorbell with warnings constantly. The only thing gained from this purchase was having an alternate device to notify us if someone is at the door instead of relying on our phones. Ended up installing an additional SonicWall access point under the house firing directly at the doorbell. Then connected doorbell to my network instead of the useless "ring" network. No more drop outs and no more refused connections. I will probably keep the overpriced and basically useless Chime Pro installed in the home since I'm not one to walk around with my phone glued to me at all times.

Works well. Sound is good. If you have a lot of devices on your internet and not that good of an internet connection, it will not work well. If anything, it still works well as a chime
