Worth it just for "Ordinary People"

This eclectic album by the always intriguing Neil Young opens, quite unexpectedly, with three unrealesed songs from the 1980s: The opening number, the quiet, bucolic country ballad "Beautiful Bluebird," the rambling "Boxcar," and one of the Neil's best ever numbers, the sprawling 18-minute epic "Ordinary People." The rest of the album shifts from beautiful ballads like "Ever After" and "The Way" to Crazy Horse-style rock on "No Hidden Path" to silly throwaway rockers like "Dirty Old Man." The album seems to skip around from genres and styles, but as a whole it is a worthy addition to Neil's already magnificent catalog. Long may he run...

Newer Sound, but still Neil Young

Album starts off mellow (Beautiful Bluebird, Boxcar), then Neil gets into some jams (Ordinary People, No Hidden Path, The Way), and also has some rockin material (Spirit Road, Dirty Old Man, etc.). Overall, great blend of material

This is a mishmash of songs that were written long ago with newer material and different styles mixed in. This make it a very uneven album to say the least. Highlights include Boxcar, Ordinary People and No Hidden Path. Most of the rest of the album is not very remarkable and very forgetable. Since after the Sleeps with Angels album Neil Young has released mostly albums with very few highlights and Chrome Dreams II is no different.
