This game is easily in my top 5. It was an incredible experience, It took bits and pieces of the series we've loved and created something spectacular, a true masterpiece. The music, combat, story, and journey should be experienced by everyone.

I am a die hard JPRG, turn based gamer type of guy. I have my go toes, the FF, DQ, Skies of Arcadia, etc.. You dont see a lot of new IP's coming out. There are so many remakes, and remasters, nothing is original. This has everything, gameplay, story, music, and of course graphics. i have been eyeing this game since for over a year, part of me was thinking this was not going to live up to the hype, ( few do ). I'm glad this one did. im about 12 hours into it. i hope devs look at this and finally go back to taking chances in their games.

I've played quite a few open world RPGs in my life, including Zelda and Final Fantasy. Expedition 33 breathes new life into the entire genre, and shows that passion has been poured into every aspect of the game, including story, gameplay, and music. Two of my favorite aspects of this game are its punchy battle system and animations, and the new take on over world design and interactions. I hope the gaming industry can take inspiration from this beautiful game and stop being afraid to experiment with new ideas.

This game gets a lot of positive hype. It is well deserved. Been playing RPG's since Dragon Warrior on NES. My favorite JRPG of all time is still Final Fantasy III on SNES. (Now titled as Final Fantasy VI to align with the Japanese numbering system). Expedition 33 is exceptional. The only game I beat to completion last year. The battle system. The story. The music. All top notch. A game that makes you want to play it over again once you beat it. There are some things here and there that hint at it not being a triple A title, but considering the state of gaming I would take those negatives any day. It probably isn't a perfect 5/5 game, but probably a 4.7 or higher. Would play it over Final Fantasy XVI though any day.

Incredible game. Amazing turn based combat, story, and soundtrack. Games like this come don't come around often. If Expedition 33 doesn't win multiple game of the year awards, I'll be truly schocked. Don't pass on this game.

This game is just cinema. The characters are so complex and fleshed out. The story instantly hooks you but also continues to throw twists and turns. The combat is fun, interactive and has variety to it. The music ties it all together to really immerse you. GOTY for me.

Nearly perfect, visuals to animation to music to gameplay. So well refined with a genuinely emotional story that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The casting was great, all the actors put a lot of time and effort to give a good performance, the game felt well balanced. Top contender for game of the year.

I love turn-based RPGs and this one is a pleasant surprise with a unique battle system. I'm not a fan of all the mechanics of the game but it's beautiful, tge story is engaging enough and the soundtrack is good.

This is one of the best games Ive ever played. The music, story, art, just a masterpiece of a game and one I wish was more commonplace today in gaming. Absolute not only game of the year but game of the decade so far.

This was hard to find in stock but I'm glad I found it here at Best Buy! It totally deserves GOTY award! I haven't finished it but the music, art/environment, characters, relationship building, fighting style, and the storyline have all been fantastic. I love this game and can't believe that it was created by such a small studio. The quality is as good as it gets. One of my favorite games of all time. It is turned based combat when fighting but I've found that to be fun.

Expedition 33 is one of the best and most impactful games of the year. It honors JRPGs of the past and picks up the torch from others that have experimented to bring real time action elements into the turn based combat and parry systems. The gameplay is uniquely rewarding, the narrative is engrossing, the art is supremely detailed, the music is god tier, and the whole package of this game is something that shouldn’t be missed by anyone - fans of turn based JRPGs or not. Play this game. Support indies. Support game design that takes risks. Support new teams making sustainable projects. And reward yourself with one of the most highly rated gaming experiences of this - or any - year. The *only* critique I have is a lack of accessibility options - the game may not be accessible to blind/low vision players or those with motor disabilities.

Went into it after hearing nothing but good things from friends and family as well as all the YT coverage. I wasn't ever a fan of JRPGs in the past, wanted to get into this one. Glad I made the purchase. The prologue is over an hour to complete which is awesome as I don't want this game to end. It is fun, looks great, and the narrative is interesting. This has opened my eyes to other JRPGs that I now want to try. Game of the Year winner for a reason.

As stated by many others, many times, this game is an absolute Masterpiece. I first heard about the game last year and after seeing the trailer it was an automatic pre order after. I never watched any more videos of it as to not be spoiled on anything. Everything about the game is incredible. The story, graphics, and gameplay are nearly perfect. And the soundtrack......wow look it up on Spotify. Crazy almost all the team behind this game was found on Reddit forums. The combat is turn based but with input events like Legend of Dragoon, super Mario RPG, and paper Mario. RPGs are my favorite types of video games and this system just makes it even better. If you're on the fence about this game don't be just get it. It's my personal GOTY so far and I don't see anything beating it out.

I had no intention on playing this game because of the hype but it blew me away. The esthetic, music, game play everything was just amazingly fun and beautiful. I bought this copy for my friend who just got a ps5 because I recommended it to her. 10/10 played it twice!

s someone who has been gaming for decades, it takes something truly special to blow me away, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 does exactly that. It is easily one of the best games I have ever played. The game breathes incredible new life into the turn-based RPG genre. The combat system is a masterpiece—it perfectly blends deep, strategic turn-based planning with real-time reactive elements like active dodging, parrying, and chaining combos. It keeps you completely engaged in every single encounter; you can't just mindlessly mash buttons. Visually, the game is stunning. The surrealist, Belle Époque-inspired art style is breathtaking and unlike anything else out there. The story is equally gripping, built around a haunting and mature premise: a mysterious Paintress wakes up once a year to paint a number on a monolith, instantly turning everyone of that age to dust. Following the Expedition's desperate journey to destroy her before she paints "33" is an emotional, high-stakes ride. If you are looking for a deeply immersive RPG with incredible world-building, a phenomenal soundtrack, and a combat system that respects your skill, do not pass this up. It’s a modern masterpiece.

yes, it's as good as everyone says it is. i loved every minute i had with this game. i laughed, i cried. extremely fun combat, FANTASTIC music, great return to linear levels/a navigable overworld ala pre-FF10 final fantasy games. characters were complex and loveable, environments were beautiful, enemies were interesting. not a super long game, but long enough. incredible metanarrative on what fiction and reality can mean to us. absolute masterpiece.

This is probably going to win GOTY. However it’s poorly optimized on the PS5. Play on PC or Xbox. Beautiful music, artwork and gameplay.
