Claims to go 16 miles in mountains, 8 miles in wooded areas. It went about 1/2 a mile with noting more than a few houses between us on flat land. If your kids are gonna camp in the back yard or run in the park its great, but if you need this for hiking or anything that requires more than 1/2 mile of distance, purchase something else.

Great little Walkie talkie for my 8 year old nephews.

Got these for the kids to play with. They love them.

Distace for use stated was exagerated. Could use and hear only at a very limited distance

I bought these so my husband and I could communicate when we were in different areas of the house and yard without using a phone. We have so much interference from other people around us, they are unusable. A total waste of money. The sound quality it terrible.

Is good in free space only because in close have a bad received

We took these on a cruise to keep up with the family. Though they advertise a 16 mile radious, on the ship comms were spotty within a less then 70 yards (factoring walls, doors, etc...). However, we use them around the house and they work just fine.

These radios do not have a 16 mile range. Even when used on a flat plain with line of sight unimpeded, we could only get about a one mile maximum effective use out of them.

These do not meet the mileage as advertised we can only get maybe 1 mile at best, works ok locally inside a park but not what we had anticipated.

Radios were purchased for hurricane preparedness in my local community. One reason I selected them was they claimed they took AA batteries. They can only take AAA batteries. Second claim was 16 mile range. We tested the radios in our gated community and some people that were closer to my position couldn't hear me, while others who were slightly further away could hear me. The terrain is quite level here in Florida and the tallest building is only two story. I would not recommend this product for any S&R work. I returned my product.

Work great on flat areas but any hills and the signal is gone. Also the range isn't even close. Try a mile maybe mile and a half.

I read many mixed reviews about these radios and decided to give them a chance. I'm glad I did! I used these on my move from Long Beach, CA to Beaverton, OR and they worked great! Driving a uhaul with a follow car took us about 20 hours to drive. Having the walkie talkies to communicate between the two cars was the best idea ever! Made it a breeze to alert eachother of any hazards and simply to stop for a break every few hours. The rechargeable batteries included lasted 15 hours!! I was really surprised how long the batteries lasted. For the remaining 5 hours we used 3 regular AAA batteries and they continued to work great as well. If you're thinking of buying some walkie talkies to use on a roadtrip, look no further. These are it! They're rechargeable and come with a single USB wire that splits into 2 micro USB wires (kind of like a letter Y) that connect into the radios to charge. You will need either a USB block or port to charge them. I used my cell phone chargers block and they did great. Sound and clarity was great, no complaints at all. Very happy with my purchase. Do not recommend this to anyone. Very static, heard other peoples conversations but mine
