Posted .To reduce false alerts, use Low or Medium SEN modes. To change the SEN mode, repeatedly press the SEN button. Please note that this will only detect radar and laser. If police are not transmitting radar and laser then this will not alert.

Posted .Using Medium, or Low SEN modes will help reduce false alerts. If you use the iRadar app with RAD 480i, you can use Auto SEN mode which will automatically change the SEN mode based upon your speed.
You will end up getting a speeding ticket.

Trust me, this device is not reliable at all. I passed by cops with radar guns while my Waze maps were alerting me, but the Cobra failed to detect the radar. This happened more than three times on a single trip. So, for me, it was the worst experience.

One of the most common reasons for not detecting an officer at all is that he does not have his equipment actively transmitting, where the equipment will be in stand by mode and not emitting a frequency, so there is no signal for the detector to pick up and alert to (this also means your speed is not being clocked.) If you do not receive any alerts from any source there may be a problem, please contact Customer Service at 800-543-1608 Option 3 and we'll be happy to assist. Thank you.

Horrible Device

It does not work and it doesn’t do what it’s designed to do. I will be taking this back even though it says it’s past the deadline. I traveled out of town this weekend and the radar did not detect anything. I tried to give the device a chance but it’s horrible. The signal didn’t work and the laser on the screen just kept going back and forth. I do not recommend this device!

Posted .We're sorry to hear you are not happy with RAD 480i. Please be aware that in order to extend the display's life, the detector has a screen saver which shuts off the display after no activity for 1 minute. Receiving an alert or pressing a button will wake the screen up. You can turn off the screen saver if you like in the User settings menu.
If you are using the iRadar app with the detector you can turn the phone's screen off to save battery life and if you get within range of an alert, it will come through the detector.

Save your money!

On the morning of July 6th, 2022 it stopped working. Once I arrived at my destination and attempted to pull it out of the adapter I noticed that the top half of the adapter was stuck and had completely broken off into the adapter in my car. I’m now SOL as the “final” return date was June 30th. Save your money or buy a better better brand!
