Does exactly what I needed, instead of paying hundreds for another brand

I selected the best brand therefore I decided to purchase from My store of choice.

Lasted all of about 6 months before the heat got to it and now it just rattles around in a drawer somewhere in my house because it's turned into a waste of money.

great for radar protection it covers all the bands law enforcement uses

Works well for the money . I own two of them.would buy them again

Know where emergency vehicles are and know where the cops are

It works most of the time. Sometimes it'll send a false alarm.

The Cobra SPX5500 is a excellent radar detector. I've only had it for 2 days and it's saved my heavy footed self 3 times already, no lie!!! You know it's sad, I almost didn't buy this model based on reviews but after reading more closely nearly all the negative reviews we're solely based on the windshield attachment and not the product itself!!! I normally don't do reviews but that made me change my mind, first of all READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST, THE SUCTION CUP WINDOW ATTACHMENT WORKS FLAWLESSLY AS LONG AS YOU ARE APPLYING IT TO A FRESHLY CLEANED WINDOW!!! If for some odd reason yours is defective then just use the sticky velcro dash mount, don't blast the product online ruining it's score and turning away potential buyers... Sorry, back to the product, works great! Gives you a heads up with plenty of time to slow down. With the awesome Inteli-Mute feature I have not received any false alerts yet nor does it even go off unless you are likely going over the speed limit. This was a MUST BUY for me and a great investment due to the NEW NC state law writing tickets for 1MILE OVER THE SPEED LIMIT!!!

Doesn't read most police cars. And when it does, it is because they are a car length near it. Really disappointing. For a hundred bucks I'd expect more. And also it says 'train' alert out of nowhere. Very annoying

I've always had good experiences with Cobra detectors.

The clip on the radar detector that holds it to the windshield breaks Really easily the radar goes off for trains thats not in the area to me it's not that great of a radar detector for the money

Keeps giving me an alert that a train is approaching, no way to turn that off. Turns out it's DOT traffic cameras that are setting it off - drives me nuts and I want to throw it out the window!

My fault but thought this had the the same features as the 5300 it does not . This only has the alarm, train and city or highway. Older model had much more e.g. compass, vehicle's speed, speed trap area and more.

Too many false alerts like train approach and your nowhere near tracks and others false alert goes off for cops but never see them can't trust it waste of money.

I've had many radar detectors in the past. Some of which were Cobra brand AND they actually worked. This one however DOES NOT. In fact in every instance so far (50 would not be an exageration) I've seen the police BEFORE THE DETECTOR GOES OFF! Thats absolutelty worthless to me. I realize law enforcements technology will constantly evolve AND SO SHOULD THE RADAR DETECTORS. If I could have given it a ZERO I would have. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER COBRA BRAND, EVER!

Worst outlay of cash I ever did. This is total Junk!!! It alerts to train approach on interstate roads I travel every day and there isn't a train track for miles. So unless trains don't need tracks this is wrong. It alerts to every gas station door in town, but fails to alert when I can plainly see a cop sitting with his radar gun pointing. So if you like to listen to false alerts, and not get any real alerts...then by all means buy this piece of junk.!!!!!

I've used many Cobra products in the past and they've worked great but this Cobra radar detector was the worst. I tried it around the city and on the highway through several states. It was not reliable at all and was constantly alerting at nothing. I was very disappointed and would not recommend wasting your money or time on this specific model.

bracket holding radar detector to windshield broke. can not use it now
