Will not connect to Bluetooth. Will not record. I have tried and tried to get it to work. I was going to send it back but I waited too late so I guess I will try another dash cam.

EZ to use, still learning with playback (speed of frames), but it captures real time consistently.

Unless you buy a separate wiring kit, this is only on when the car is running. Looking at videos is a pain and there are chimes that seem to be meaningless. When I tried to use with Apple CarPlay I get an error message that it cannot be done.

Summary: Set it and forget it, that’s where the Cobra SC 120 shines as a dash cam with a decent camera and storage options. If you are looking for a more hand’s one experience with bells and whistles (like a built-in screen), there are other more expensive units out there. Comes with an App for fine tuning and works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Pro’s: - Compact, unobtrusive design. - Easy to install. - Good 1440P video resolution. Con’s: - So so wireless connectivity. Matter of Taste: - The App could use some work. - Ultra-wide camera with a ‘fishbowl’ output. - Do it yourself installation. - Can’t connect with CarPlay (or Auto) and the included App at the same time. - Your CarPlay has a larger user group for road alert functions. More Words: Some dash cams have so many options and frills they almost double as an entertainment system, but the actual picture is no better than what the Cobra SC 120 can provide. It is a competent camera that is so small that it won’t distract you. The lens is ultra-wide, which has pluses and minuses. On the plus side, you record a lot of the action around you, on the bad side, things will seem further away with less detail than you might remember it. The fishbowl effect is so prominent you won’t be using the footage as home movies but it’s insurance in case of a negative road experience. The App, well, make sure it’s up to date and the firmware is the most recent, and that means connecting inside to a strong WIFI source first. It does connect with your phone, to adjust settings and presumably download footage. I found it faster and easier to just use the included micro SD card (16 Gb) with a card reader. It’s a revolving loop, erases the oldest footage, so you will probably want to upgrade to a 256 card for long trips. Bottom line is if you want a dash cam that is just a dash cam (records usable footage), this is a good price for a compact unit.

Stay away! This thing records random events, nothing specific lol. I have countless hours me walking around in my garage BUT no actual driving events. I bought this to record classic car runs in my classic car; and it recorded NONE of the driving, only stops at lights, and random "quick videos" that are 1 pic/second showing nothing of interest. One video has 10 minutes of my garage - no movement, no sound. lol. Save you money - do not buy this.

Terrible camera. Bought the OBD2 port connection and no matter what setting i did. The camera would either record constantly while off or when i set to parking mode, it would stay in parking mode while driving and every bump would set it off like it was being hit and the SD card filled up on one 20 minute drive. I tried changing all the settings and nothing worked right. The App is terrible and it took multiple times to connect to the camera every time. Will be returning and trying another brand.

I was quite interested in obtaining the Cobra - SC 120 QHD Universal Dash Cam that works with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto - Black for testing and review. It arrived in perfect shape taking just a small box to fit the cam, C-USB Cord, long car cig lighter plug and roof overhead cover installation tool. The Cobra SC120 dash cam was quite easy to install and took up very little windshield space behind the car's review mirror. Before installing I tried several times to connect the dash cam with my iPhone before I was finally able to connect the two. I contacted Cobra's customer service department and received further instruction on connecting the SC 120 with the Drive Smarter application. Before installing and using the SC120 Cobra dash cam, a firmware update is required. A download of the Drive Smarter application which acts as a GPS navigation device and reports/records instances of speed traps, etc. is also required. The Drive Easy application records the devices videos and allows access to them via your smartphone so removing the dash cam or its SD card are not required to view the saved videos. The Drive Smarter application records the date and time on each video segment but saved my initial videos as occurring in August 2024, not October when they were actually recorded. I have contacted Cobra customer service for help correcting that. Another issue I experienced was the Driver Smarter application not able to find a local retailer by name, near me or actual street location. It felt like the Drive Smarter app was in the early stages of development with improvements hopefully coming along shortly. The application reminded me a lot of another navigation application that reports driving issues, speed traps etc. when users report them as they are driving along. The quality of the videos taken by the SC120 were excellent! Great color, excellent clarity with no blurring or jerking. I only tested the device during daylight so am unable to report on night time use. The SC120 cam has a small speaker in it that can verbally advise of upcoming traffic/driving issues. I found that to be quite useful. If needed the dash cam is easily remover from it's windshield mount with a simple twist of the cam and reinstalls the same way. The camera is unobtrusive and is the smallest dashcam I have ever used. Now if they can get the Drive Smarter application to work better, this cam will be a keeper!

The driver smarter app is no good and you need it for this device

I recently installed the Cobra SC 120 dash cam in my vehicle and have been testing it for a couple of days now. The package included everything needed for installation including cables, a trim tool to help with concealing the cable in my car’s trim, cable clips and cable holders. Also included was an SD card which was very much appreciated. The last dash cam I bought did not include one, you had to buy it separate, so this was a welcome addition. Setup was very straightforward which includes downloading the Drive Smarter app. I had no problems connecting to the app, setting up an account, and downloading/installing the firmware update. The Drive Smarter app has a lot of functionality in it, and I’m still in the process of learning what all it can do. Surprisingly, the app also includes navigation with voice prompts and I found that it works well. Uploading clips to the cloud and downloading them to my phone is seamless and quick. A couple of things that could use a little improvement. One, connecting my phone to the dash cam’s Wifi in order to view recordings is rather slow, you gotta be patient until it finally connects. And two, the recordings are all dated two months ago. As I write this on October 8, all of the recordings from today are dated August 8. I reviewed the online manual for the camera and it says under General Settings you can modify the date/time. I have gone through every menu and setting in the app and I cannot for the life of me find anything related to date/time adjustment, and certainly not under General Settings. There is a user support link in the app so I submitted a question to see if Cobra can help. I haven’t heard back yet, its only been a few hours, but I’ll update this if/when I hear from them. After testing in my vehicle for several days I’ve found it to be a solid dash cam that does everything I need it to do and at a good price point. The inaccurate date/time setting is annoying, I’ll guess I’ll just have to adjust for that if necessary.
