Great dash cam for my truck. Camera shows front,in cab and rear. If I have a problem it will be recorded on the camera

This cobra dashcam has excellent daytime image quality. At night while driving the headlight illumination gives a sort of tunnel effect that emphasizes the road ahead, but when the headlights are off it functions well in its role as a parking camera.

I have had this dash cam for about a year and it is great it help me in a hit and run 2 months ago it got the tag number and the cops. I strongly recommend this dash cam.

My daughter who is a new driver wanted this so she could prove she was driving safely in the event of an accident. I love the extra features that come with it also. Video quality is excellent. Would recommend along with installation by Best Buy.

The Cobra SC 200D is one of Cobras newest dash cams on the market. It features higher than 1080P recording in the front and 1080p in the rear. For a dual dash cam, this price point is very reasonable. I really wanted to give this product a five-star review for its image quality but all the other aspects pull its score down to more of a 3.5 or 4 out of 5. Setup: Frustration within the App! Setting up the SC200D within the app was at first very confusing because I didn’t know if the errors were on my part or the camera/app’s but it was clear after a little while it was the app. In car setup requires finding a level spot on the windshield to mount the camera with an adhesive pad. I prefer suction cup mounts for the easy for install and removal but this is not that. I have never used this type of mount so we will see how the longevity is. You get two adhesive pads for each camera. Cobra could solve this issues of being permanent by offering just the mounts to buy for each car and it’s as simple as transferring the camera from car to car then. The rear camera is wired (I would love the see a wireless data transfer camera) so setup required running the wire which depending on the car is easier than others. Finding a spot to mount it can also be tricky. One thing I ran into was the fact my car was already hardwired for dashcams with a Mini USB plug, this one features a Micro USB plug. I bought and adaptor to use and it works but most dashcams still use Mini USB as my understanding. Setup within the app was awful. The Drive Smarter app is not ready for prime time. I tried using a phone with Android 11.0 and Android 8.0 and actually the older one somehow got the camera firmware to update after nearly an hour of trying with both. My camera firmware now sits at v1.69 but I cannot tell a difference. Usage/Image Quality: Crystal Clear! The camera works very well but it has a slightly slower startup speed than others I have used in the part (1-2 seconds slower to boot and start recording). The buttons work well and are mounted on the bottom which makes it easier to use than on the sides. The GPS works well and gets signal after moving for about a minute or less. An audible chime is heard once it locks in GPS data. Has plenty of settings inside the app/camera to adjust but I would recommend doing it on the camera as the app is painful to use. Image quality is amazing! This does however create huge files on the SD card so the 16GB card that comes with it will not cut it. I would recommend a 64GB or 128GB but it states it supports but to 256GB. Both day and night quality are good with plenty of ability to zoom in on videos in postproduction to see license plates or finer details. Drive Smarter App: Simply Doesn’t Work I tested on Android 11.0 and 8.0 and neither worked well. I reached out to Cobra and I sent them a video of my problems with the app and they stated they are stability issues and are working to fix them. I hope they are resolved quickly because the app would be extremely nice to have working. Almost nothing works in the app for me other than settings adjustment on the camera but even then it shows some buggy behavior just doing that. For now I plan on not using the app at all just to be safe and not experience utter frustration. Final Thoughts: The Cobra SC200D has great image quality and a fair price point for a dual camera setup. If you are ok with the lack of a functioning app at first (Hoping it gets fixed!) then this might be a good buy for you. If you need the app working as of writing this review, then I would say pass. The adhesive mount and micro USB plug are something I haven’t used or seen on the past cameras so if your car is prewired for Mini USB then an adaptor will be needed. Overall great quality and features but lacking the promised app functionality as of now.

Did good for a while, but slowly it would not recognize the SD card so had to switch them out a couple of times. Now the cobra logo is just on and wont turn on, oh well on to the next one.

Good video quality and easy to install. Down side is that you can only use 64gb or smaller micro SD cards.

This thing saved me in the event of a hit and run. Got a crystal clear picture of the offender’s license plate that the police were able to trace. Little difficult to initially understand how data was saved on the card and a little slow to read in device, but the supplied thumb drive adaptor works a charm.

The best thing you can get for your car helps you a lot

I should have listened to the previous reviews stating the excessive issues with the app connecting to the camera. It connects less than 25% of the time, and I feel like thats being generous. The cord used to connect the rear camera to the front camera is so old and outdated, I was completely unable to find a replacement when my back camera quit connecting to the front camera 7.5 weeks after purchasing this set up BRAND NEW. Best Buy didn’t have the cord, the guy I spoke with at Best Buy said the connection type is so old, it’s not used anymore and difficult to find. He helped me check Amazon, EBay, and even called up a local store that literally ONLY sells cords and connectors and they said the same thing…so old, it’s not used. I ended up getting a new cord through the warranty, but it took them 21 days to send, and the cord has ended up not being the issue, it’s just the camera crapped out. Don’t waste your money on this camera. The only redeeming thing is that the front camera works fine, but you cannot move the camera side to side to get a different view, it only moves up and down. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone given the awful customer service, poor design, and apparently the poor quality of parts they used for the back camera.

For the price, this unit does the job, easily access recordings from the app.9

Overall this dash cam is very good. I just wish I had purchased the larger screen and touch screen model.

This little unit already paid for itself by protecting my family and I from a false claim! Video doesn’t lie, people do.

This camera is non-functional with a useless app that is heavily drains your phone battery and almost never connects only had the camera for less than 24 hours and very unsatisfied with it will be calling cobra to request a refund as the paperwork in the Box says do not return to store.

Loved it!!!! Worth it buy it you will not regret it

This unit is great! Great quality videos even the rear camera. The knly thing i would say negative is not about the camera itself but cobra needs to do something better with the drive smarter app. It won't connect to the camera
