Dell XPS 8700 Desktop Missing one motherboard plug. I asked about compatibility prior to purchasing and was told it would match up fine. Not usable with my configuration.

That'd be correct. Many Dell systems use proprietary connections and only a proprietary PSU would work. Please contact our team next time directly if you need any prior confirmation, or feel free to look at your system's manual as well.
