Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the RMx Series 850W power supply's ample power, modular design, and quiet operation. Many appreciate the high-quality components and easy installation. While some users reported an audible coil whine, the majority found the unit to run cool and efficiently. The positive feedback on quality and ease of use outweighs the relatively few negative comments.

Bought this to replace my 750 watt as my 3080 was taxing it so much. Works perfect and is pretty quiet. Great value!

I had to replace my power supply in a hurry so I didn't want to wait for shipping and they had this unit at my local best buy. I like the modular design, lots of cable hookups. I really like how under low loads the fan doesn't even come on at all. Really great feature, it made the whole computer much quieter when sitting at idle. One thing to not. Replace ALL the cables, don't think you can reuse the cabling from your previous modular supply even though it plugs in. I tried this and it fried my optical drive.

A little pricy but great quality modular psu. Wires are all wrapped in durable mesh. Quiet as well. To pull air from outside the case had to install with rmx850 badge upside. Not the best design imo. Doesn't impact the performance in any way but details do matter...

    Tank of a Power Supply

This thing is built like a tank. This RMx series is rated as a Top tier/Class A power supply so it is in the best of the best in terms of quality/production. It's not a platinum level PSU but none of us normal people can afford one anyway. But for a Gold level, it's one of the best. It's as good as the Seasonic and SuperFly power supplies. Only gripe is Corsair makes their PSU cables super stiff and they are painful to plug and unplug. Otherwise good stuff

Easy installation for my 9700K + 3080 Build

My system is an iBuyPower prebuilt that I purchased Black Friday 2019. For the 9700K it had and the 2080 Super card that came preinstalled, the included 650W off-brand power supply worked just fine. However, I was recently fortunate enough to be able to purchase an RTX 3080 FE from Best Buy. I used an electricity monitor to see how much power I was pulling from the wall while playing Flight Simulator and COD: Cold War maxed at 4K. I was regularly drawing 550 on average, with brief spikes just over 600. I've built systems before from the ground-up, but I've never disentangled the web of cables left for me in the back of a prebuilt, so I had a lot of anxiety about replacing the PSU. However, in about 30 minutes I was able to ditch the old PSU and replace it with only four modular cables coming out of the back of the RM 850x. I didn't realize how many extra cables they include with the non-modulars in these prebuilts! My old PSU used to sound like a jet engine taking off when I would play a game at max settings, while I don't know if I've even heard the fan on this one, yet. The only con and the only reason why I will knock this for "ease of use" is that the included cables are very thick, inflexible, and pretty short. I had a little bit of a struggle routing these cables through the back of my case and finally stuffing the PSU into the basement of my case. If I had purchased cable extensions, this would be a non-issue, but I believe the included cables should all be 3-5 inches longer. Overall, if you're looking to upgrade the components in your PC and think you might need a little more juice or overhead, don't hesitate to buy this unit. But maybe consider getting cable extensions.
