Great gaming headset!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked up this headset for both gaming and work. It did a great job at both. For Gaming, i utilized it on my XBOX. It connects via a USB-A dongle. Simply plug in and away you go. 2.4Ghx wireless gives you plenty of distance in any living room. I think I can actually go almost across the house and not lose audio! The sound is great and the active noise cancellation works well. This is an over the ear design. So you don't have that constance pressure against your ear. And I didn't really get much heat trapped like some other headsets I've used in the past. I really like the detachable boom mic. with the flexible arm. Alows me to take it off if not in use. No touch here! All analog button and rotational control for volume. I'm old - so this was a nice feature for me. And not having to remember touch patterns to do a function. Really like that it came with a storage case. Its a nice lined case. holds the headphones securely with enough room for the usb cable and dongle. as well. Wish there were a cable passthrough for charging though. I did finagle the cable along the zipper. But maybe for the next version! OVerall, very functional device. Build is very good. And expect a long time of use out of this unit.

If you don’t have a PC, don’t buy them.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately, you need a PC to upgrade the software from the headset. And the box does not say that before I own a PS5 and do not have a PC. So without updating the software, it sounds awful.. took them back the next day.

Crappy materials will cause the headset to crack.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound and other functions are good. however the top of the headset will crack. It's very cheaply made for how much money they cost. I bought two (one for me and my son). His broke before the receipt time expired. Mine is cracking and his replacement one is also cracking in the same spot. We do not mishandle or treat the heads roughly.

not worth the price with a plastic head band
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sound quality with a plastic head band, specifically chose this one because in looking at them they appeared to have a metal headband with all the other features I was looking for. Needless to say the head band has broken. Tried to find a replacement for it on the Corsair website and was unable to even find the headset on their website

Good sound, AWFUL Comfort
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I normally love Corsair products and have owned two other Virtuoso headsets. I wanted to love this headset for the features and improved drivers. However, after 30 min of playing, it was clamping so bad I already had a headache. I tried using my chair to hold the headset open overnight to reduce the clamping force. It worked a little but was still way too uncomfortable. My friends also said the microphone was much worse than my previous Virtuoso XT. For all these reasons I had to return it.

High quality and great sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headsets come packed in a very nice case. The only drawback they will only fit in it with the boom mic removed and the earmuffs have to be turned to lay flat in the pre-fit grooves. This keeps them well protected, but you will have to remove the mic each time they are packed up. Ease of use is very good, and it only took about 2 hours for them to fully charge out of the box. Once you connect the Max wireless receiver to a USB port on a PC, the headset instantly connectes. You also have the option to dual connect via Bluetooth if you would like to have them connected to your phone as well. It is highly recommended to download the iCUE Corsair app as soon as you start using. This will check and install firmware updates and allows a full range of customization. The ring lights on the side can be changed to multiple colors and set to static or changing. I really like the SoundID function. This walks you through step by step listening to different sounds and clicking when you can no longer hear a specific frequency. It takes about 10 minutes, and you get a perfectly tailored sound quality to your specific earing. The earmuffs are very comfortable, and the head piece is cushioned for extended wear. It is overall a little heavy, but not enough to cause discomfort. The mic easily connects into a USB slot and is fully adjustable. There is a mute button that easy to get to and the tip lights up white when on and red when off. Volume is controlled by twisting the entire ring on the left earmuff. Noise cancelling can be turned on or off and there is a big difference when it enabled. Outside noise is blocked out almost completely and you can barely hear someone talking loud right next to you. Gaming sounds are great, and you can easily hear enemy footsteps and which direction they are coming. It really gives an edge on the competition. They work great talking wirelessly connected to your phone as well and the mic pics up clearly. They seem made well enough to last for a long period of heavy use. Battery life is pretty good and should last most moderate gamers several days between charges.

Bad Flagship, RETURNED
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a flagship headset it’s awful. Mic quality is horrible, incredibly uncomfortable compared to their other models like the XT. Crazy that Corsair could make this as bad as they did when “lower tier” virtuoso models (XT, SE, RGB) have great mic quality and leatherette cushions. Better off picking up one of those.

Great headset but could be more comfortable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Corsair Virtuoso Max is a great wireless headset with just a few drawbacks - mainly being comfort and some software bugs. I will be getting into all that in this review. Unboxing/setup: The headset is nicely tucked in its own traveling case upon unboxing, and next to the case you will also find the detachable microphone and USB-C. You will want to install iCUE for all further setup. Design: Perhaps the best looking headset… ever? For me it is. It’s a brilliant mix of minimalist design that still looks premium. It’s mostly made of metal and the rest is a mix of plastic/fabric. You have all your usual controls on the sides and there’s even a play/next/pause slider that I don’t see very often. The ear cups also have a volume control, but it’s rather slow to rotate so I haven’t used it much. The microphone can be detached. Oh and there’s RGB for some reason on a headset :p Weight/comfort: My scale is a bit tricky, but it comes out to around 420-430g. It doesn’t feel too heavy and for the first few minutes my head feels totally fine, but after only 30 minutes SHARP pain can be felt. My head gets used to it and it’s still usable, but wow it can almost ruin the whole headset. Battery life: Very good for a Corsair headset! Used for a week and only dropped about 25-30% Wireless: Not once did the connection drop during my testing and it has a very long range! It’s really awesome being able to move room to room while talking to my mates online. Sound quality: Out of the box I was honestly very disappointed with the sound as it sounded very flat and bland. I turned on a software feature called SoundID which measured my hearing and preference and wow did it sound amazing after that! I kept it on and it’s great for music listening especially! For games I still recommend turning on the regular EQ and messing around with that. There is also Dolby Atmos support. I just have 1 issue with the sound and that is that sometimes out of nowhere the volume will decrease itself across the board by like 25% which is usually solved by a system restart. This could be a software bug. Microphone: Tested with my friend who said I sounded really good with basically no background noise (vacuum and fan test) this was all on stock settings, but you may want to tweak it if you find the suppression too aggressive Software: iCUE isn’t the best but I had no problem setting everything up and updating it. Sometimes it’s an issue for me on their keyboards/mice, but it went more smoothly in this case. I can easily recommend the Corsair Virtuoso Max if you’re in the market for a sleek premium wireless headset that delivers in so many aspects. I just wish the comfort was better as that was almost a dealbreaker, I recommend trying it on if it’s on display. Pros: Traveling case Design Sound quality Microphone quality Flawless wireless Cons: Comfort Volume bug

Poor quiet, distorted, & buzzing mic monitoring
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never heard a set of headphones with a worse sounding "microphone sidetone"... Meaning being able to actually hear your own voice (critical for gamers playing online). No excuse to have a $330 pair of headphones have such horrible sounding "mic monitoring". I searched online and it looks like this is a pretty common problem this line of headphones has. Returning these immediately.

ABSOLUTELY BAD
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These don't hurt your ears as much as the Virtuoso XT and although they improved comfort, after a few hours they hurt. The mic is terrible and the sidetone for hearing yourself while gaming is the worst I have ever tested. The look and feel is premium but the Astro a50 still sound better and feel better. I will be returning these headphones, they did not last a day in my house.

Corsair Why?
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For over 300 you get a cool looking headset, but really its not as good as it seems. The side tones has you sounding like a robot. The noise canceling doesnt really work since the ear mufs are fabric. And over all its just not there. For over 300 bucks. I better get a perfect headset.

Exceptional Sound!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These wireless gaming headphones are the future. Fully customizable when downloading the app. You can customize the colors around the headphones and the way they are displayed. You can set the tone, and color scheme. The sound is great but could be better. It could use more bass and maybe more volume. The headphones come with an attachable microphone. While in use there were no issues of other players hearing me. The set of headphones comes with a nice storage bag. Uses a USB-C port to charge. Manufacturer states the battery can last up to 60 hrs in one full charge and 6 hrs with 15 minutes of charge. The headphones are compatible with any PC, mobile, or gaming console. The headphones are very comfortable, they have plenty of cushioning around the ears and along the headframe. The noise cancellation on these headphones are solid. It also features Dolby atmos spatial audio which is great while playing shooter games. Overall, the sound and quality of these headphones are great. With fully customizable lights, these are great for any gamer looking to upgrade their headphones.

Great design, average sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Corsair Virtuoso Max wireless headset is fine for anyone who wants professional gaming headphones that feel awesome and can connect to multiple different devices (speaking as an intensive PC-Gamer™ with several other gaming corsair products at home as other brands' headsets, testing the product for a full week). Information for purchasers during unboxing: I would like to say that this is my final (re-written) opinion. In the first version of my review, I had no idea where the manual or any information about the headphones was since no instruction booklet was included. A lot of my first impressions revolved around this and it wasn’t until I found out that the manual was available by scanning a QR code on the inside of the box (which I had not found before) that I needed to change things. If I had not looked back at the box or had thrown it out before using my headphones like most consumers would, I would have missed some very crucial information on how these things worked, including some information about the importance of updating the firmware. If there was an actual paper booklet or anything other than a QR code hidden on the bottom of the box, I would not have to go through this. But after the software update and using it for about a week, I can say that the experience is significantly better, however, there are still some features that I am still not too happy with. First off, when you open the box, you are greeted by the wonderful black leather carrying case, the safety information, and the warranty. The carrying case is nice and sturdy which gives me a nice peace of mind if I want to bring this on vacation. When you open the case you get the charging USB type C to USB type A wire, the wireless stick that you plug into your computer if you don’t want to use Bluetooth (or it’s not available in your device), the detachable microphone that connects with a USB type C, and the headphones themself. With great aesthetics, the headphones look to be made out of quality materials and are very comfortable to wear. On the left side, there is a slider to change it from off, wireless mode, and Bluetooth mode, as well as the plug for the microphone. Before I get to the other side, I just want to say, at least for me, the idea of having a microphone that can be separated from the headset just seems to be a recipe for losing and/or breaking things. On the right side, there is a button that can be customized and can also turn on the noise canceling mode, a slider to go to your previous or next song, and the charging port. On the outside of each earmuff, there are dials that on the left, control volume, and on the right, the dial can be customized, just like the button. On the box, there are a couple of very key features that Corsair would like you to know about. First off, it says that there is active noise canceling and I could say that it works pretty good, in a limited capacity. You see, the headphones have three modes: transparency, normal, and noise canceling. Transparency mode makes it easier to hear anything around you, normal mode changes nothing, and noise-canceling makes everything sound a little bit quieter, which just barely counts as noise-canceling. The headsets also come with 50 mm Graphene audio drivers that supposedly “produce incredibly clear, accurate sound”. Now I don’t know if I have been tainted with bad audio quality, but whenever I initially put these headphones on, the audio seems extremely muffled for some reason. Now, this is without any of the firmware that Corsair urges you to download, so after reading the online manual, I downloaded software, did everything it said, and nothing really changed. The iCue firmware allows you to change different settings about your headphones like sound quality, what the buttons do, and how the LEDs on the ears appear. Honestly, I don’t really think I’ll use it. Finally, on the box, it says, “Call out commands clearly over a broadcast-grade omni-directional mic.” If you read that having absolutely no idea what that means or even why it is necessary, I am in the exact same boat as you. Why would you ever need a microphone that captures audio that comes from multiple directions when that same microphone is attached to your face and is going to be pointed at your mouth? It seems completely useless. Now, some of these features aren’t the worst and actually make the experience great for anyone who needs it. As I said before, the headphones have a slider on the left that turns it off, goes into wireless mode, and goes into Bluetooth mode. This makes these headphones amazingly versatile and perfect for any situation. The wireless mode requires you to plug the wireless stick into your computer which makes things beautifully simple. And if you are using anything that doesn’t have a USB type A plug or your computer had all of its USB plugs taken up, you can use the Bluetooth feature which works great. Another feature I find extremely helpful is the battery life. On the box, it says that it can last up to 60 hours and I can tell from experience that it is no joke. I have been able to use these headphones for days on end without needing to worry about the battery life at all. Another thing that you won’t find on the box, but something I specifically find helps is the range of these. I usually find myself having some music or a podcast on in the background while I go around and do other things so not needing to worry about being in the range of my computer is so useful for me. All in all, I think these headphones are great to use and are very comfortable, but I feel like there should have been a little more thought put into customers' experience or some features completely cut out for the sake of not wasting time and energy. I think that for the price, these headphones don’t have the expected quality-price ratio.

Excellent Gaming, Movie and Music Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been fortunate enough to have a lot of experience with several really nice high end gaming headphones over the last decade. So even though I do not consider myself any sort of “audiophile” I do think I have a more informed opinion of headphones than most. I knew I was going to write a review for these when I got them, so the first couple days I wrote down a series of words as they popped into my head while I tested my Virtuoso Max out. My list is heavy, tight, powerful, booming, clear, 3-D, and stays connected. So let me expand a bit on that on what I think are ultimately really good headphones. First impressions were solid. It feels very well built physically. The slide adjustments have several settings that click into place and the largest size is even more than my oversized dome requires. It has a tight stiff feel to it relative to other headphones I have used. I actually was a bit worried that the cup padding wasn’t going to be soft enough as the headphones themselves clamp down fairly firm. The foam padding isn’t that thick and these are the heaviest headphones I think I have ever owned, but fortunately I had no issues with any discomfort. The rest of the box contains the mic, dongle, charging cable, and a pretty decent carrying case. First I connected it to my PS5 to play a little Elden Ring and I thought it performed very well. The sound was excellent, particularly the deeper bass sounds. I was also able to track things in 3D space around me very well. I then moved on to try it out on my PC. I already had the iCUE software installed and it worked immediately once I plugged in the dongle. I listened to some music, watched some movie clips and listened to a podcast. Everything sounded excellent. Next I connected my phone via BT which is when I discovered perhaps my favorite feature. There is a dial on each side to control volume. One controls the volume for the BT connection; the other side controls the connection via the dongle. You can have both connected and playing at the same time with independent volume controls, very nice. The range is good as I could go anywhere in my house and went at least 50 feet away, down a hallway and behind a door. I also have no complaints about the battery life as it seems to be at least the 60 hours claimed. The microphone sounds really good and the active noise cancelling (ANC) is excellent. I called my friend when the complex gardener was just outside my window making some rather loud noise and we had a lovely conversation. I also appreciate the visual indicator of a red or white light at the end of the mic to let you know when it turned on or off. All in all I really like the sound of these headphones. Though I don’t really care, my girlfriend loves that she can change the color of the RGB lights on the outside of the ear cups. I think some people might have some discomfort with the weight and tightness of these, even though I had no problems. Every feature has met my expectations for high end gaming headphones in this price range. I would absolutely recommend them to a friend.
