Didn't last 6 months

Wireless headphones that dont work wireless
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As appealing as these headphones may appear they've given me nothing but trouble. Right from the start had issues with wireless mode and it just wouldn't work some times. But now it's at the point where it has 0 wireless functionally. Pretty cool right

Don’t purchase from Best Buy
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What an awful experience purchasing these from Best Buy was, ordered for curbside and after arriving home realized the package was open. Okay no biggie until I open it and realize the directions have been torn open and the usb dongle is missing. Go to return it and they don’t have the same ones in stock so I have to get the xt model which is 60$ more tried getting a discount as it was Best Buy’s negligence that brought me to this path. Quite disappointed to say the least

A step above the rest
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've tried a lot of headsets, and many of them have started to provide a differing level of comfort, features, and overall sound quality. When you unbox them, you'll quickly notice the more premium build quality of this headset. It weighs a bit more, but feels more solid than the lighter plastic ones. On each earphone, you'll notice what looks like an embedded LCD screen displaying different colors. When the headset is off, you can still see the logo, it's just shadowed out. It's a nice touch, since it feels like the rest of the texture of the area surrounding it. The lighting also looks really great, and really makes it pop when you're on a live stream. I've gotten no less than 20 compliments from viewers, and some friends that have come by. The included USB dongle carries on the same design elements of the headset, and it's a bit long. Compared with others, this one sticks out about an inch and a half (1 1/2 in), compared to the dongle of a competitor at around half an inch. However, it also has an backlit logo which also acts a connection indicator. Going from red to white when it's fully connected. The microphone comes unattached when you unpack this, so you'll need to plug it in on the bottom of the headset to get started. It has a really neat mute button on the bottom, just below the plugged in port. When pushed, you'll notice the LED ring around the microphone go Red when muted, and Green when mic is on. This makes it easy to figure out if your message is getting across. On the left headphone, you'll find an auxiliary input, which makes this compatible with an Xbox One controller using the 3.5 in port. This actually comes with a really nice braided cable, so you already have everything you need. I was able to quickly connect it to the controller, and didn't need to tongle anything on. If you really want the lighting effect, you can plug the USB dongle in to your Xbox, and it will mimic a connection, while still getting audio from the controller. The only downside, is the mute button doesn't actually work on the Xbox, so just be aware of this when using it. The USB cable that comes with this can be used to charge, and continue use of the headset when in USB mode. This means you weren't ever really down, while playing a game, you just have to plug in for a bit. The charging was surprisingly quick, and I was also able to use a USB C to C cable without issue. The USB cable also carries on with the design elements of the dongle. The iCue app, which you have to download from their website, makes changing EQ settings easy, with predefined options. You can also tweak them to your own preference. The app also allows you to change the color combinations of the headphones logo. You can set pulsating lights, solid, or turn it off all together. The headphones are very comfortable, offering enough padding to keep you wearing them longer. The extra weight isn't much of an issue, and the overall build quality makes them seem premium. All the compliments love the metal like design and the lighting effects. The sound quality is pretty great, especially the FPS setting. I was able to hear more of the ambient sound, while still getting the bumping effects of the action on the screen. The other EQ presets do what they're described as, like the common bass boost (which is pretty great), and the clear chat options made it easy hearing teammates talking in game. To add to the premuim feel, this also includes a soft protective carrying case made from some sort of soft fiber. It includes a small sewn in or attached pocket for the cables and dongle, while the rest of the headphones fit in. It even has a magnetic close flap. Not Velcro, or some weird snap style, just flip it on, and it's closed. It's done well to protect the headphones in my backpack, as I've started using these at work. The variety of compatible uses made this an easy recommendation. I was able to use this on my PC effortlessly without issue, and it provided some exceptional sound quality when gaming, and listening to music. The build quality and included cables make this complete out of the box, no need to worry about buying the right cable for your use, it's already here. If you're in the market for a new gaming headset that sounds great, and feels awesome to wear, this is it!

Why all the bad reviews
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For starters I have been looking for a wireless headset for a couple months. Logitech was uncomfortable and felt incredibly cheap. I tried the hyperx cloud flight. The sound was abysmal, the headset felt cheap. The comfort was incredible and the mic was decent! It came down to the arctis pro and the Corsair virtuoso rgb SE. I returned my flights and picked up a pair of virtuosos very hesitantly based on mixed reviews. I am beyond impressed. 1. Hands down the most aesthetically pleasing gaming headphones I’ve put my eyes on. 2. The construction and materials is unmatched. 3. The sound is really good, I am by no means an audiophile; however, if I was I wouldn’t be looking at gaming headsets. 4. The ability to go wireless and wired 5. The sound in FPS games is great. Significantly better than the Logitech and cloud flights. 6. The mic is really good. Discord and gaming people compliment the clarity. 7. RGB is cool and customizable. 8. EQ is okay. I like the competition FPS setting. 9. I have a rather large head and medium size ears. I played for a few hours and felt no discomfort. I will say it did make my head a little warm but nothing that bothered me. I would recommend these to anyone for gaming purposes. Blue tooth would be a nice addition.

5 star build, 4-ish star sound, 2 star comfort :-(
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom line: superbly crafted with some great potential held back by a few functional/technical limitations; a sound profile that needed some tender-loving-EQ but ended up pretty nice overall; decent (not exceptional) surround processing; and a [sadly] very aggressive clamping force that neither my wife or I could ultimately get past. THE GOOD (EVEN GREAT): Corsair brought their A-game to design, finish and build quality. Everywhere you look, Corsair is working to treat you to the premium owner experience the slightly premium price tag would suggest. The aluminum construction on the band and earcups provides for a solid but not overly heavy feeling in the hand; and the knurled finish on the aluminum housings and accents for the cables and wireless dongle help convey that sense of “this is more than gussied up plastic” here. The volume dial is similarly knurled for a reassuring feel when making adjustments. The analog and USB cables feel heavy duty and are braided for tangle-free use; the mic’s boom is rubberized and while it doesn’t have the most “grabby” memory effect for slight bends and movements, it will stay in place when muscled into a new spot that requires more substantial re-positioning. The quilted carry pouch is appreciated, though a hard(er) case would have been welcome as we round the corner past two Benjamins. The Virtuoso’s physical design abandons an “I’M A GAMER” look for something you could easily use in the workplace; the little perforations in the aluminum earcup housings allow the LEDs to shine through when lit (and are defeatable as well); otherwise, you’d be hard pressed to see any kind of branding on these at all. The style reminds me a bit of the Oppo PM-style headband and yokes crossed with the B&O round earcups. Both cups swivel flat in both directions which is great for making space in a backpack or suitcase; and the padding, especially on the earcups, is every bit as soft and gushy as memory foam should be. Usability and ergonomics gets almost everything as right as you can in a package like this. The detents for the earcup adjustments are also marked with subtle hashes and numbers on the outside of the band so you can re-adjust by sight any time you have to pack them away. An LED ring (also defeatable in iCUE) at the tip of the microphone lights red or green to indicate operation; and the physical design of the mic’s plug makes it impossible to insert into the earcup backwards. Onboard controls are minimal aside from the volume dial which means no fumbling around in the dark amidst a set of similar feeling controls (like the Logitech G935 or even Audeze Mobius). There is a somewhat under-sized switch next to the volume dial that moves you from wireless to wired (also doubles as the OFF switch), and a mic mute push-button that doubles for sidetone toggle on the base where the boom plugs into the left earcup. Beyond that, the analog 3.5mm plug exits directly out the bottom of the left earcup while the USB-C charging/wired port angles a bit out the back. This is slightly atypical placement for this type of plug which means you might feel the cable fight you just slightly in certain instances as it snakes backwards before settling down the front of your shoulder towards your console or PC. The Virtuoso also features a motion sensor to automatically put the headset to sleep after you set it down, or wake it up when you put them on so you technically don’t have to use the little switch to power them on or off…nice. Finally, the Virtuoso features some pleasant in-ear voice prompts for various settings and status indicators (low battery, mute, etc.) so you don’t have to rely on status LEDs or button settings to keep track of what’s going on. Mine worked wirelessly right out of the box with the PC dongle, no iCUE software required. They were only stereo in this configuration, mind you, but it was nice not to have to use iCUE. But once you do head into the app, there is a reasonable array of functions to adjust the Virtuoso’s appearance and operation. It’s not a very crowded app so it shouldn’t scare anyone off, but there are customizations for LED colors and lighting pattern, mic volume and sidetone sliders, a 10-band PEQ with a 12dB range for boosts and cuts as well as saving/loading sound profile presets, a big, easy-to-read button for the 7.1 surround. There is also a separate page for adjusting other settings like toggling voice prompts, mic LED, battery status indicators (which you can also put in the Windows taskbar), run a firmware update, etc. It’s perfectly functional and easy to navigate and provides quick access to the features you’d care to tinker with anyway. One extra-big shout out to Corsair’s customer support! When my unit seemed to have a problem with one of the drivers, a very helpful and responsive rep reached out to me, listened to my problem, and then spared no time or expense getting a replacement shipped out to me ASAP. It is SO refreshing to find a company that stands behind their products and their customers with such a responsive and positive attitude—highest praise for Corsair’s customer service! THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Here’s where things started to falter, at least in my experience. In wired mode, the headset supports 24/96 playback. Now, you can’t really appreciate the difference in sound quality over standard resolution without also having some 24/96 source material so I auditioned some of my files from HDTracks.com. I could certainly appreciate and pick out instances of greater clarity and detail in the tracks I knew very well vs their SD counterparts—but the “depth” of the soundstage felt a little small and the bottom end/mid-bass felt just a bit wanting. I switched to wireless (standard resolution bit-depth/sampling support) and noticed the same, slightly “thinner” sound relative to even some mid-fi dedicated music headphones like the Sennheiser Momentum or E-Mu Teak. I went into iCUE to adjust the EQ sliders and that helped quite a bit—interestingly, there’s even an option to link the sliders to help smooth out frequency adjustments vice a dramatic/isolated 1-band cut or boost. The sound quality definitely got better, I’d say bordering even on very good, but that improvement only lasted as long as I was using iCUE--there is no onboard storage to keep sound profile settings stored or even activate surround once you move systems or plug it into a console like the PS4 or to use with a DAP/iPod. Personally, I would have liked the EQ sliders to be adjustable to a customized frequency band (if that was in there, I couldn’t find it)—most people wouldn’t need more than 10 preset bands, but as I couldn’t ever quite get the mid-bass “fullness” up to where I was comfortable, I can’t help but wonder if a little more granular control over EQ settings would have helped. Surround sound performance; something I was keenly interested in, was…okay; good I guess. I didn’t really find it as precise as the Atmos app I’ve used with my non-gaming cans, the Waves NX solution built into the Audeze Mobius, or the DTS HeadphoneX 2.0 I have with my G Pro X cans. BUT, that’s not to say it was bad…it was definitely serviceable and engaging, I’d say at least on par with the matrix-based solution I recall from the HyperX Cloud IIs. Supposedly you CAN use the Windows Atmos app if you uninstall iCUE (I didn’t try this myself because I have many profiles and settings saved in iCUE for my Corsair keyboard), but then you lose the ability to tune the sound profile, adjust lighting, etc. I will say that the Virtuoso’s 7.1 setting DID add a great deal of depth to the soundstage in AC: Odyssey and screen-appropriate sound localization for games like Dying Light or the latest COD, but the panning and sound-source depth relative to the action on screen just felt a little smeary and variable at times, nothing that could be fixed either with EQ tinkering or Windows sound settings. I’m not a competitive gamer so I don’t know that pixel-perfect sound localization is something I’d ever really care about, but if you do have a favorite flavor of 3D positional audio, be it Dolby, DTS, etc. just know that Corsair hasn’t licensed any of them specifically for the Virtuoso which is a bummer. Finally, the bone crusher (literally)—fit and comfort. The headband and earcups are finished with some cushy pleather though personally I could have used a bit more padding along the headband. I do wonder about materials longevity as a few of the pleather pads on our other phones have flaked over time—time will tell if that’s true here. The pads fully enclosed my wife’s ears but I could feel spots where the outside edges of mine were pressed flat. That really wouldn’t have been a big deal were it not for the significant clamping pressure. My wife has a smaller head than mine and she couldn’t wear them for more than 5-10 minutes without taking them off because they were so tight. I could go 30-40 minutes before the pressure was uncomfortable enough that I had to remove them for a breather. I tried stretching them out on a tightly rolled blanket to break them in, but the headband is apparently pretty strong because any adjustments didn’t seem to last more than a few minutes. Over time they might work into a more forgiving shape; but at least for me, I couldn’t get past the significant discomfort issues enough to make a blind-buy recommendation. Perhaps it’s fair to call the fit “finicky” as they may feel and fit wonderfully for some…but clamping force seems to be a common complaint in the other reviews I’ve read so I would have to encourage any prospective buyer to try them on first if possible before committing to a $200+ purchase.

One SMALL problem with the detachable mic, as the button is a TAD flimsy and stopped working after 3 weeks. Tried to return it a month later, but Beat Buys WONDERFUL policy of 15 day returns totally screwed me out of a simple exchange. Never doing business with your company EVER again... Wow! Best Premium Gaming Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow! Wow! Wow! I know that's a lot of wow's but I am seriously impressed. I have never owned Corsair products before and I was blown away by the build quality and most importantly the sound. I am going to use a phrase I never have used before "high fidelity". Corsair say "high fidelity" on the box and I never really considered it possible for gaming headsets until now. I tested this on my Win10 gaming PC Fortnite and Destiny. The sound was richer and better than before. I also played a quick round of CoD where the sound mixing and ambient directional noise of enemies was much clearer and honestly helped with my gameplay. The attention to detail from Corsair is amazing. You have 3 ways to connect. Wireless, Corded, or USB C. Thank you Corsair for making USB C the connection option. The headphones automatically turn off when you put them down. THANK YOU. The number of times with wireless headphones I put them down and forget to turn them off only to discover it when I go to play next time is too often to count. So Corsair's auto-off feature is GENIUS. The included cables (audio and USB C) are braided material with solid rubber inserts and metallic finishes to stop fraying. Corsair also include a nice carrying case to keep your headset safe and all of the cables together when you travel. Comfort-wise this is pleasant to wear, it fits snug and the noise isolation from the headphones is impressive. I wouldn't feel weird wearing these (without the mic) out in public as a pair of corded headphones to my phone. The main headphone arm has padded faux-leather which makes it easier on your head. The adjustments for size actually firmly click as you move them. Don't confuse the click with being hard, it's just that they lock-in to place compared to others which can be a bit flimsy. Microphone quality is sold, I was worried that I wouldn't like the fact that unlike most mic's you can't flick up to mute and instead there's a button you press near the base of the microphone. But it's easy to find, has a nice firm click and wasn't an issue. Chatting on Discord during gameplay I got no complaints from other users. The microphone is removable and connects via mini USB. Just FYI, there's no microphone in any of the cable-based connections (USB C, audio). This isn't a concern more sharing as I know some headphones do offer both options. Finally worth saying that the Corsair iCue software is straightforward and easy to use.

They sound great and fit really good
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Corsair Headset comes boxed in a really sturdy box. It contains the headset...of course and a really nice bag to store it in. Below that, there's a separate box that contains the detachable microphone, USB-c charging cable, a 3.5mm cable, a USB transmitter and a user's handbook. The complete package gave me the feeling that it was a quality product. I've used Corsair power supplies in the past and still have a 750 watt in my last PC. I've always found their products to be well made and up to my expectations. So I fired this up. First I used the 3.5 mm cable to my original Pixel. I played a few games and listened to some streaming music. I got to say the sound was very good for headphones. I was trying to find out how to set the 7.1 audio sound and after a Google search and reading the manual... who does that??? I discovered I needed to go to the Corsair website and download the iCue software to my Windows machine. Doing that allowed me to set the audio, toggle the equalizer, and the lighting. I then went to my PC and insert the wireless transmitter. I picked a playlist and allowed it to start playing. My home is a bit over 1500 sqft and I was able to walk around the house listening to the playlist without any hesitations or drop. Also this headset is so light and/or comfortable that it didn't distract me like many others do. The sound is great and very enjoyable. I didn't use the eq or try to boost the bass or treble. I used it like it came and that works for me. I like a lot of bass in my music and although it's not a subwoofer for the head, it does what it needs to do for me. I then tried it out with the still in beta version of Age of Empires II Definitive Edition. I usually play the game with a 5.1 surround system and again the Corsair headset did well enough that I didn't need to switch back during my review. I'm not big on games and video via headsets. I mainly like music through them. I can say however that with the comfort level of the Corsairs, I could see doing either with them, especially if I'm playing a game that requires a microphone.
