Doesn’t fit the head, and sounds considerably worse than the HS65 for less.

    Decent, mid range gaming headset

For this in the market for a decent gaming headset without breaking the bank, the Void fills that role quite nicely and for a decent price. I've used a number of different gaming headsets from Astro, Alienware, Logitech and Steel Series. Some are really great but usually come with steep price tags while others have been so-so at best; also sometimes with steep price tags. But the Void works great in that it's relatively inexpensive and wireless which is a nice bonus. Sound wise, this is decent. Not the greatest sounding headset I've used but also not the worst. Sound is clear and bass comes through OK. Fit wise, it's a tad tight for me but I have a large head so I'm sorta used to that. It fits OK but I find it uncomfortable during long gaming sessions. For reference, I wear a 7 1/2 fitted cap. There is a small bit of RGB on the headset but not much. You can control it through their iCue system to get all the pretty colors and such. Overall, a decent and affordable gaming headset with decent performance.

Compressed Audio, but a Generational Improvement

TLDR: Compared to Corsair’s previous generation & similarly priced HS80’s, the Void 2’s represent a marked improvement in audio quality even if the audio is overly compressed. PROS Audio Quality much improved over HS80’s Supports Dolby Atmos spatial audio 2.4GHz Range is Outstanding CONS Audio is still overly compressed and not as open & airy as the best gaming headsets Headband too narrow for my melon leading to a poor seal around the ear RGB lighting pointless & seems like an afterthought SET-UP The Void 2’s are set-up and configured by Corsair’s iCue software. While not my favorite, it does a decent job of making things easy enough. I will say that the software is about due for an overhaul. It is starting to get quite long in the tooth. Competitors’ products are more intuitive, polished, and easier to learn, but iCue isn’t the worst on the block either. One thing worth noting is that Corsair claims that the iCue software only installs the modules necessary based on your peripherals (or so they say). That is a nice change and keeps you from installing a whole suite of programs and features you may never need or want. Goodbye 1GB installation files! Thankfully, the Void 2’s can be used without the iCue software should you choose to do so. Aside from the RGB lighting controls, I found the Void 2’s worked equally well with just downloading the Dolby Access app from the Windows store. Sometimes, less is more, and I like not being mandated to manufacturer’s software to get a peripheral to function properly. Yes, you do lose the ability to control RGB lighting and firmware updates, but this is one of the few products that can function independent of its software! PERFORMANCE While the Void 2’s are still not as good in terms of audio quality as some of its competitors, Corsair has improved the audio quality from its previous generation of products. Unlike my review of the HS80’s, I found the new Void 2’s to be much more adept at music and movies. Not that the sound quality is necessarily bad, audio just seems overly compressed. The Voids don’t sound nearly as open, light, and airy as many of its competitors. I tried my best to open up the soundstage, but it just wasn’t happening. No matter if I used the 2.4GHz dongle or Bluetooth, it didn’t matter. I tried tuning it out with the Dolby Access app or the DTS app, but neither restored that spacious feeling I like. Still, the Void 2’s produced decent sound quality. I found I liked them the more I used them. While specifications at the time of writing are sparse, I’m guessing, like the previous generation, the Void 2’s use 50mm drivers and have a full range of 20Hz – 20,000Hz. Bass response was markedly improved over the HS80’s as well, but the higher frequencies still seem subdued and compressed. Speaking of that 2.4GHz dongle. Corsair nailed it on their transmission distance. I was able to walk from one end of my house where the office is to the far opposite side of the house with multiple walls in between with ZERO audio loss. WOW!!! Great job Corsair. That’s at least 60 feet away (direct line) and at least 6 walls in between. OUTSTANDING! CONS First. The biggest drawback is the overly compressed sounding audio. I’m guessing it is an algorithm issue, and I’ll bet Corsair can improve it with a firmware update in the future. Still, the audio is perfectly acceptable for gaming. You won’t give the audio quality a second thought if using the Voids for gaming. It is only when you want to chill with some music or a good movie do I notice the difference compared to my current set of cans. Second. The RGB lighting honestly looks like an afterthought. When I first laid eyes on them, I thought the lighting was added because a designer forgot to check that box off in the design stage. No illuminated logo, just 2 random bars that face the front of the headphones. It looks cheap and out of place. Third. For my big melon, the Void 2’s don’t fit quite right. If you have a normal sized head, you probably won’t experience any issues, but the top of the Voids are just a bit too narrow, forcing the bottom of the cups to not seal as good as the top half for me. Because of that, ambient sound leaks in. There is enough leakage that ambient noise almost seems like it’s being amplified while wearing the Voids. I attribute this primarily to the poor seal along the bottom of the ear cup. Most users probably won’t be affected by it. FINAL THOUGHTS Corsair did a fine job with the latest updates to the Void 2. Audio quality is improved over their previous generation of products that are similarly priced. While I do miss the spacious sound stage of my current cans, the more I use the Voids, the less I notice it. This is not an issue that I experience or care about while gaming. During game play, the Voids sound just as good as any similarly priced competitors’ products. It is only when I switch over to listening to music or movies do I notice any real difference. Unlike the HS80’s I reviewed, the Voids 2’s are not a deal breaker for me. Corsair has done what is needed to be done to improve the audio quality of this generation of headphones. I give the new Void 2’s a solid 4.5 on gaming and now a 4 on movies and music. A definite step up from the last generation. RECOMMENDED

The sound quality of these headphones is excellent! I hear crisp highs and deep bass to the point that I can feel my ears vibrating from the low frequencies. The surround effects are impressive. I listened to multiple surround sound test videos and really enjoyed the effects. Straight out of the box, everything worked without any software download or installation. All I did was plug the dongle into a USB port and turn on the headphones. The devices were paired and didn’t require any configuration. I highly recommend plugging the dongle into a USB 2.0 port because the signal kept dropping when plugged into a USB 3.0 port. This is a known issue with wireless dongles, because USB 3.0 ports emit a lot of RF interference. It is no fault of the device, but I was hopeful that a newer device might be able to handle it. Once plugged into a USB 2.0 port, the connection was perfect, with absolutely no dropped connections. Physically, the headphones have a unique shape. They rest comfortably on my head and over my ears, but there are some gaps that allow some ambient sound in. If in a quiet environment, this does not matter. However, these headphones might not be the best option for someone in a noisy environment. There is no noise isolation since there is no seal around my ears. With that said, the shape is really comfortable to wear for hours at a time. I have also never felt bass like I do with these, so I wonder if the shape of the headphones contributes to better acoustics. The flip-up microphone with automatic mute is a great feature. I love having a mic attached, but I often eat with headphones on, so I don’t want the mic in the way. When it flips up, I forget it’s there, but it’s simple to lower it down and use it. There is a voice prompt that says “mic on” and “mic off” when the microphone is flipped, so there is confirmation that the audio is muted. Friends are happy with the sound quality when I use it to talk to them online. They also say my voice sounds natural with no filtering, so I am happy with it. Although there were no instructions included with the headphones, and the QR code to scan is not working yet, I eventually found a link to the Corsair software. I installed it and gained multiple additional features. The best part was the additional EQ settings. I was happy with the audio quality before I found the EQ, but I was extremely impressed when I turned on the “Movie Theater” mode. Wow! I love the preset! In addition to audio settings, there are tons of options for the LEDs on the front of the headphones, the ability to change button behavior and auto shutoff timer, and then my next favorite part – a dashboard with a ton of tiles showing hardware temperature and usage data. It is a nice-looking status monitor for the entire system. Overall, I highly recommend the headphones for gamers or other computer users who are in quiet environments. Personally, I love them! However, I wouldn’t recommend these if there are multiple people in the room or there is a lot of background noise since they don’t filter outside sounds.

    Basic Headset

The Corsair Void Wireless v2 comes with no instructions. There is a QR code on the box that is supposed to take the user to a manual, but it just goes to the generic Corsair website. I searched for the Void Wireless page, but it does not provide any links to a manual. This review is based on what I can figure out using a Windows PC. The headset comes with a USB-A dongle but also connects via Bluetooth. I used Windows Bluetooth to connect the headset to my PC. The headset uses Windows' Bluetooth capabilities with no added functionality. From what I can tell, there is no added functionality. A volume control on the left side of the headset works with the Windows volume control. There are also two buttons, power and a generic button that pauses and resumes audio. Perhaps the generic button does more, but it is trial and error without instructions. The headset also has a fixed boom microphone that mutes when flipped up. The headset has RGB lighting that changes randomly. I am not sure if and how the RGB pattern can be changed. The sound quality is good, and they are comfortable. They are a basic headset. When turned on, they do not automatically connect to the PC; I have to go into Bluetooth settings to connect them. Perhaps the experience is different with Mac, Mobile, PlayStation, or Switch.

Nice mid range headset from Corsair. This newer version of the void features Dolby atmos which sounded very good. Music audio quality is good but behind my higher cost music headphones. Gaming performance was very good and the microphone was fine. I attempted to use on a corporate pc for voice recognition but was unable to get the sound to work. I also had issues downloading the software on one of the testing laptops (x3). The software is fine and there is support for the lighting. I texted mostly on windows and the usb dongle is somewhat large (usb - a) and there is a cord supplied . Equalizer is unavailable if using the windows spacial sound. I find the headphones un uncomfortable after relatively short periods of use. This is primarily due to their tightness on my head. I typically wear one of the larger hat sizes. The unit does support Bluetooth and utilizing the 2.4 GHz wireless. There was zero latency on gaming. There is also reported support for mobile PlayStation and switch.

Not Full Dual Audio as Advertised

Overall not a bad pair of headphones. Build feels cheap but well made. Very light while wearing. Disappointed that it's advertised as dual audio. While yes, you can use the 2.4ghz wireless and Bluetooth at the same time. The audio on your Bluetooth is for calls only. You have to single press the power button to switch to calls and multimedia audio while connected to a phone Bluetooth connection, which turns off the 2.4ghz connection. Kind of lame, since I was hoping for a full dual audio solution between my cell phone and computer. Probably going to return.
