Died 18 days after purchase. 3 days after the Best Buy return deadline. I'll try getting the company to replace it.

The Crucial portable SSD model I have is the X 9 Pro series. This particular one is a two terabyte drive. The first thing I noticed when I opened the package is just how small this drive actually is. It seems that every time I upgrade my portable hard drives, they physical size just gets smaller and smaller. This one is really neat, in that it can fit in your pocket and you wouldn't even notice it being there. The only part of the drive that might annoy anyone would be the USB C cord used to connect the drive to the computer. The Crucial X9 pro does not have an IP rating for dust and moisture, however, the drive states that it is resistant to both dust and water on the packaging, so that should provide some level of comfort to those of us who may use this drive where it could encounter a small amount of thes elements. The drive comes with included software that can help secure the drive and has built in password protection. Like about anything else you buy nowadays, there are some trial software included on the drive, but that doesn't take up much space and can be removed. The read and write speed of the drive are both 1050 Mb/s and Crucible markets this drive for fast storage of photos and files. There are faster drives I am sure, but I have been happy with this drive so far with everything I have used it for, including some light gaming where the files where stored on this drive. This drive also comes with a 5 year warranty. So far it has been a great drive at a good price.

The crucial X9 Pro is a great external SSD that offers many benefits. When I first pulled it out of the box, I couldn’t believe how small this was, yet I was very impressed with the build quality. Measuring at 2.5 inches long, and no thicker than an iPhone 12 - this is the smallest external SSD I’ve seen yet. The housing has a very sturdy aluminum shell, and the bottom has a solid rubber matt, so it doesn’t slide around on your desk. The drive is very durable, it’s also waterproof in case of accidental spills. The X9 Pro is fast, it has read and write speeds of up to 1050 mb/s. I decided to test out the drive’s speed to see if I can run games directly off of it, and the results were incredible. I downloaded some of the latest FPS's on Steam and ran them directly off the X9 Pro, every game ran without a single problem of stutter. Load times were incredibly fast, and gameplay was smooth. Transferring files is also fast as well. Overall, I am really impressed with the Crucial X9 Pro. The build quality as amazing, I love how small it is, it really allows me to carry it anywhere with me in my pocket, or even on a key chain. With the fast speeds, I’m able to download games and play them directly off of the SSD and copying/ moving files are incredibly fast too. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an external drive.

This is a nice little compact portable hard drive. For some reason I thought it was going to be bigger. It is very compact at only 2.5” x 2” and about ¼” thick. You can easily throw it in your pocket or purse or briefcase to take it with you on the go. I fount it to pretty much be plug and play on my Windows PC and Laptop. I don’t have any Mac computers to test it on, so this review is for Windows only. Both of my machines are running Windows 11. I plugged it in and it was easily able to see the drive and I was able to read and write to it. So if that’s all you need to do, you are good to go! I didn’t have one problem trying to use it with the Storage Executive software which is supposed to allow some extra features of the drive. I tried multiple times installing and re-installing the software on both my desktop PC and Laptop and it would never recognize that the drive was connected. So, if you are buying this with the hopes of using those extra features, buyer beware! I did contact their support and they gave me a huge list of very detailed information they wanted about my PC and the specs and configuration of different parts and I really didn’t want to bother with all that since it worked just fine as a regular hard drive and that’s the way I will use it. So I will have to dock it a point for that. Otherwise it’s a great and fast portable hard drive!

Software needed to update the firmware is only available for Windows 11 and crashes after launching.

Best Buy never delivered the item. Time to look elsewhere.

So some background - I've been buying Crucial RAM ever since I can remember, back in the days when Macs were upgradeable. So, I've always been loyal to this brand and this time is no different. The first thing that struck me is how small and light the drive is. However, it's still imbued with some density, so it feels solid and not cheap. I'm in the process of slowly changing out my standard spinning hard disks connected to my Mac to solid state drives and that's where this Crucial comes in - I have a 2TB backup drive that serves its purpose, but is super slow when trying to access anything on the drive. Converting to the Crucial is like a night and day difference. Now, when I double click on a folder on the Crucial that is filled with tons of media, said folder opens almost immediately. This was not the case with my spinning drives - I would get the spinning wheel on my Mac while the folder struggled to access the data. That alone is worth it for me and has convinced me that I need to replace all my other spinning drives with similar Crucial SSD drives.

This is a 2 TB large capacity had drive that is much smaller than I expected. This makes it very portable. t comes with the hard drive and a usb type c to type c cable. The drive itself has a really nice design. It is sleek aluminum on the top and sides. The bottom is a rubber base, which helps to keep it in place while plugged in, and makes it a bit nicer to hold. It also offers some water and dust resistance, and is drop proof up to 7.5 feet. It also has a loop for attaching a lanyard - this could come in handy as the drive is so small. I haven’t tried the included encryption software - there are short cuts on the hard drive to download and install the software. The drive comes formatter at exFat, which should work for most people. Instead, I used my operating system for format and set encryption on the drive. This works best for my workflow, but I like that they offer the option to use their tool for encryption. Read and write speeds are right around 1050 MB/s, which is good for a USB Type C 3.2 Gen 2 connection. Compared to the competition, this is priced a bit higher but offers the same performance. If the smaller size is important this would be the one to get.

Fast, reliable, small package size, doesn't get hot, reasonable price, and has an actively light. This is the best external SSD I've used so far. I have only one complaint. It uses a USB-C ready cable and that is fine. However some devices still only have a USB-A connector. For the amount of money it should come with a USB-C to USB-A adapter. That is my only complaint, and I still give it 5 stars. That adapter probably costs a $1 to make, but when you want to buy it by itself, it sells for $10 or more. It should come with that adapter (and most other manufacturers supply it) to make it a perfect product.

Great product. Perfect size being as compact as it is. Great speed with usb-c, perfect for a gamer that is running out of space or just backing up your data. Got it on sale as well so it was an even better purchase then I thought. Highly recommmended for anyone needing fast, reliable compact storage.

I was looking for an external stoarage for an xbox and a worker helped me. He was saying how the storage device works with xbox, but didn’t say how you need to buy an adapter with it. I bought two different adapters one was usb 2.0 and one was usb 3.2 and it says you need to have a usb 3.0 or higher. I tried it and never worked. I tried to return it for store credit to get a different one but the worker said I can’t get it returned even though I had the receipt and only had it for 8 days and had no damage what so ever.
