I've been doing a lot of video editing in remote locations. I needed an external SSD drive to hold my media that was reliable, tiny, and fast enough to cut some high bitrate video. Been using this for several months now with no problems.

Small, High Capacity, and Compact USB-C 3.2 SSD

The Crucial x9 Pro is small and compact. It's is constructed well and is water and dust resistant. The bottom of the case has non-slip rubber and the case is thin. It also has an activity led inside a cutout on one corner of the case. It's has a USB-C 3.2 gen 2 port and it comes with a short USB-C 3.2 gen 2 cable. I used the SSD on two different computers and I was able to get at most 680 MB/s read and 470 MB/s write. It is advertised to get up to 1050 MB/s read and 1050 MB/s write. I was not able to get that out of the SSD on either of the two systems I used. The SSD I have works, but I'm not sure what may be causing the slow speeds. Regardless, the speeds I did get are enough for me to use this as a storage drive for games and to use it with my laptop as a storage drive while out away from my desk. If I'm out with my laptop and need to transfer data from a memory card to the SSD, the speeds are fast enough that I won't have any issues there. Also, the read speeds are faster than a SATA 3 SSD, so I won't have any issues with this being used to store and run games off of this drive. Pros: Compact Thin USB-C Cons: Speed Short USB-C cable It's a small SSD with faster than SATA SSD read speeds and is on part with SATA SSD write speeds. If that fits your needs, then consider the Crucial x9 Pro. The x9 does fit some of my needs even with the less than expected read/write speeds.

Bought with a great sale and very happy with the ease of use. I wanted something for extra photo/video storage and the files transfer with a couple clicks using the C to C USB cable provided.

Solid choice for SSD. Small and Fast. The drive does get hot and it would be good the they included a longer usb cable. But not dealbreakers. Happy so far with the performance.

This a very small but extremely fast SSD. I bought it for $121 total back in July of 2025. I can not believe it is currently selling for $400!!

Overall, this is a 5* drive - small, fast, and copious. My disappointment is that the encryption is largely useless with Windows Home. This limitation should be noted more prominently in the marketing material.

The Crucial Drive is the fastest download drive I've ever used. The 2tb drive, which is about the size of a credit card, ships to my editor safely and inexpensively. I highly recommend these drives as a great companion to a laptop or smartphone.

I had been trying to use a My Passport to free up space on my phone from all of my photos. I was having difficulty with the process so I pulled up a UTube video on how to save my photos over to the device. On the UTube video it was showing the Crucial Pro Series X9 Pro device and how easy it was to use that device for my photo storage instead. So I went to Best Buy & bought it and have been using it since. It is so much easier, quicker, & less confusing for me to use. I highly recommend it!

I use it as a backup hard drive for my work laptop and personal photos catalog. Transfer speeds are great and it's a good price for the amount of storage. I haven't had any issues with corrupt files.
