Brews great coffee, but horrible reliability

This is my second Cuisinart, and both have failed in relatively short times. The first one lasted for about 1.5 years, and the second only lasted a year. My previous Braun, brewed great coffee for 14 years without a problem. These units seems to suffer from unreliable electronics and poor quality control.

I purchased this coffee maker from Best Buy about 2 years ago, and I still love it. If something were to happen to it tomorrow, I would purchase the same model again instead of researching various makes and models for weeks like I typically do.

great buy, but don't break the pot

We have had ours for over 6 years and use it twice a day. Makes a great cup of coffee, has it's own reusable mesh basket filter, and shuts itself off. We love it but are sick of paying $25 everytime we break the pot.

Worked great until today.

We have had this coffee maker for a few years and it has worked great until this morning. Now it will not turn on. All of the other functions will light up, but the power toggle switch seems to be broken and it will not turn on. Two days ago it automatically powered off and would not come back on, but we were almost done using it, so we didn't worry about it.. Yesterday, it powered on fine. Today, no such luck. Unplugging it for a while did not help. Seems to be a waste to throw it out and buy another, I'm sure that is easier than trying to fix it.

So far, so good. It brews a hell of a lot faster than our previous coffee maker (about 40 minutes faster!) The price, size and features were right so I picked one up. Like the title says, it's makes coffee and it makes it hot!

I really do like this maker. It brews very quickly and the coffee is HOT! It also has a 3 year warranty(limited). The only problem for me, is the clock/display. I have to change the auto start time daily, and the little clock window is hard to see. It's a standard black on gray LCD, so forget about seeing it in the dark.... As for only giving the "value for the price" a 4....I'm cheap. :)

Replacement for a bad choice

I had one of these for over 10 years. When it started having problems brewing I replaced it with a lesser expensive brewer that (supposedly) had more options. This second brewer lasted just over a year. I went back to a work horse I should have stayed with.

Done with Cuisinart

I should have expected it. I bought this machine for my office, and along with it the $120 grind-and-brew version for home. That one lasted all of 3 months. This one held out a bit longer, almost 2 years. But for the price, that's not too good. It replaced a Mr. Coffee machine that cost me $14.99 and lasted 18 years. Yes, 18. I think that Cuisinart got so caught up in adding features that they forgot the one feature that really counts, and that's quality. The front switch won't turn the machine on anymore. When it worked, it was a pretty good machine, but I didn't notice any appreciable difference in the quality of coffee over any cheap machine. It still drips hot water through coffee grounds. Oh, well. Some lessons are more expensive than others. This machine is now in the trash and sitting in its place is, you guessed it, a $19.99 Mr. Coffee machine.

This coffee maker replaced one that never seemed to keep the coffee hot enough. This is the first time, in a long time that a pot delivered very hot coffee, perfectly. Although the dials on it's face are hard to read, but once you know your settings, it's perfect!

I do not like the feature that you can not see how much you are filling it with water except shining a flashlight in the water containor. Otherwise it is a good machine.

Dont regret buying it

Makes good coffee, and I dont regret buying it. But my previous coffee maker (Barun Flavor Select) was better--functionally more efficient. What I dislike most about this machine is the following: (i) the carafe lid is flimsy and not as easy to put on and take off; (ii) the area where you pour the water is incoveniently narrow. The only way to pour water is to fill the carafe first (to get the measurement right) and then pour the water in. Cups of water tend to spill into the filter because the water-area is so narrow, and other narrow-lipped containers (such as a jug) have measurement issues. (iii) the base of the coffeemaker sticks to the counter and this is inconvenient because the construction of the area where you put in the coffee and the water is covered by a lid (it does not swing out), which means you need to pull out the machine to an area on the counter which allows you to lift the lid and carefully pour in the water (as described above). A sticky base means that accidents become more likely. (iv) the coffee takes a while to brew (but its good in the end), much more time than my Braun; and (v) finally, the on-off button is a piddly little thing that one has to be careful with--looks very fragile and breakable.

Unit broke within one year

I have been a longtime proponent of Cuisinart. I must have had 4 of these coffee makers over the last ten years. When my last one bit the dust, I bought a new one, exact same model, last May, about 10 months ago.
I was shocked to find that the unit had a problem so soon, so called Cuisinart Support. Lo and behold, they have a relatively new warranty, where you have to pay to get a new unit and you have to pay to send the old unit back. This is not what I have experienced before with Cuisinart. So, I have two complaints:
1) The Cuisinart quality control seems to be slipping - breaking in less than a year????? (Just recently, before this incident, I bought a toaster, and I have been disappointed with its quality.) The issue was related to hoses in the unit, which I have found recently as a common complaint, which is not fixable within the home. IMHO, they may want to consider doing a recall.
2) The Cuisinart support model is out of whack! They should go back to the way it was, but it looks like they are trying to gouge pennies from their loyal customers, while losing dollars in the future. Because of Cuisinart's previously superior customer service, and my perceived quality, I never looked any where else. I plan not to buy Cuisinart going forward.

I use to purchase coffee on the go since i had a hectic lifestyle busy. At beginning i wasn't big on making my own coffee but now I make my own i set my timer for morning brew i wake up daily to fresh smell of coffee. And sometimes when im running late to work this machine makes my coffee quick and fast. Also like that i don't have to change those chemical paper filters. Washable coffee filter always a plus and this thing saved me
$$. Haven't noticed anything bad about it.

We bought this coffee maker for my in-laws 4 years ago. It's still going strong! Makes wonderful coffee. However, they bought us one just over a year ago and it just quit working. Don't know if this one is a lemon or not, but I'm very disappointed in the short lifespan! I will try another one in the future because of how great my in-law's one has been...

Machine Likes to Turn Itself Off Whenever It Wants

I am somewhat picky about my coffee and consequently somehwat picky about my coffeemakers. I have had two previous versions of this model and was very pleased with both of them until they stopped working for whatever reason and needed to be replaced. I dont' remember exatly how long it had been for each, but it was not an unreasonable life span as I recall. So, when I needed a new machine I naturally went out and bought this one.
I have had this machine for a little less than two years. In that time, it has performed reasonably well although there has been some problem with the coffee not being hot enough despite adjusting the settings. That however was a livable issue. Lately, for the last three months or so, the machine has decided to turn itself off whenever it feels like it. While programmed to turn off after two hours, it has turned itself off at times varying from the middle of the brewing cycle to five minutes after completion of the brewing cycle, to 30 minutes after to 75 minutes, well you get the idea. I have spoken with customer service several times and followed their advice to unplug the machine for an hour and them plug it back in and reset the timer. That fix lasted a week at the longest. I have given up and am now shopping for a replacement since I'm too frustrated and frankly too angry to keep dealing with this machine. The only reason it got three stars is my prior experience with how good it used to be. When working properly it's a great machine. It just has a mind of its own.

I was looking for the 14 cup model but couldn't find it in any stores. I needed one immediately since the Kitchen Aid 14 cup we had dies after about 1 and a half years and couldn't be fixed. The coffeemaker makes very good coffee and is easy to use. It has many great features such as adjustable heat and time after brewing. It also is well priced.
