Thermostat not working well , plates fall out

My problem with cheap ones is non stick doesn't work after about 6 months so much to soon to tell about that. The red ready light comes on after a couple of minutes and it is not ready to cook. The cook plated came out while cooking.

top plate pops out of place on one side

I use it for breakfast meals mostly. flat side on the bottom and grill on top. heats up quickly and heat is fairly even. The problem I have is that the top plate pops out of place on the right side requiring me to put it back in place a few times each time I cook.
