The only reason for four stars is the volume at which it operates. It does a good job of grinding coffee though.

We may have had this model for at least 5 years and never had a problem with it. We use it at least 5 times a week. It is a great product.

I ordered the Cuisinart Supreme Grind DBM-8 automatic burr mill coffee grinder 3 or 4 years ago. I use it about once a month. It stopped working yesterday. From reading other reviews this is a common problem with this grinder. I would be happy with a hand turn burr grinder.

    Buyer Beware

I had a prior Cuisinart grinder and it died. Decided to get another one and the first time I ground coffee it made a terrible sound. Emptied out the beans and out came a round piece of steel. I have tried to contact the Cuisinart Customer Service to no avail. This will be my last Cuisinart product of any kind.

It was great while it lasted.

After 2.5 years, you slide the button to tell it how much to grind and then hit the button... The button doesn't stay pressed. You have to hold it to grind. Very darn annoying.

I purchased this about 12 months ago - perhaps less. Used it about one time a week. Last week it failed. Just will not operate at all. Had a propeller type grinder (and still have it) which I used for years. Cannot recommend this product.

Noisy and Powders the grounds instead of crushing

I have a Proctor Silex Blade Grinder that does a nice job of chopping up the Coffee Beans with not much noise and very little dust. I thought the Burr Grinder would be gentler and quieter but it is very loud and it produces a lot of fine dust. The dust piles up on the inside of the Grounds Receptacle on the back, top side which is just opposite the exit from the Burr Mechanism. This means the ground beans are exiting at 90mph indicating that instead of "crushing" the beans the Burrs must be rotating at extreme speeds and are just destroying the beans.
